About
The Sinking City 2 is a third-person survival horror set in 1920s Arkham. Deliberate, tense, and resource-lean: pressure builds as you push deeper, relief comes in brief refuge, and fear is something you manage. Mind your inventory, take on unnerving puzzles, and double back via unlocked shortcuts for supplies and upgrades.
A Roaring ’20s port city buckling under a supernatural flood. Tide-stained avenues and battered Art Deco. Speakeasies gone dark. Districts feel lived-in and water-worn, with routes by foot and skiff, shortcuts behind collapsed seawalls, and secrets tucked in boarded parlors. You’ll navigate a hospital where science hides its face, a fish market where the merchandise bites back, and descend deep below the city to where eldritch horrors stir.
A ritual gone wrong trapped her soul in the Dreamlands, and now malevolent forces have stolen her body. To rescue the woman you love, you must walk a dangerous path through catastrophe to the source of the flood — her presence always felt, but rarely seen.
The Slither animate the dead. Deep Ones surge from dark water. Shadows bend space and test nerves. Some fights must be met head-on; others demand a retreat to rearm, retune your build, and return better prepared. Or take on an optional investigation and come back with an upgraded gun.
Exploration is the key to survival. Read ritual residues, sift through grisly clues, decode journals that shouldn’t exist, and pry at masks that won’t come off. Optional cases never gate progress — but they unlock safer routes, hard supplies, and upgrades that change how you endure the next encounter.
The Sinking City 2 draws on Frogwares’ detective roots to deliver survival horror that runs deep and hits hard. Shaped by studio obsession and community feedback, it’s a faithful Lovecraft experience: myths made manifest, and the inconceivable fear that results.

I don't really care for the resident evil part, since it's just a matter of watch jump scares, stay calm, and place careful shots, but this is pretty decent. What's more fun are the puzzles that aren't suer complex, but reward attention to detail and critical thinking. The story is above average, but not as intriguing as the first game. Optimization is average (and considering the UE5 is a glorified movie engine, that means most computers will have some struggle, despite the small scope). The days of investigating are done, unfortunately. Despite my disappointment in the lack of choices and engagement with the world, I recommend it if you like RE games. It's a bit disappointing and feels a bit soulless, but also seems to be the exact direction a story around previous events would go. Consider this a meh with a caution warning. Most of the story is just jump scares galore, tbh.

The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

I Love what I'm seeing so far, but I keep having the game crash on me. I can get maybe two or three minutes of gameplay on average and a bit more if I'm lucky. I crashed maybe 9-12 times just trying to get through the first chapter. It's a real shame, i'm having a great time otherwise. I'm no longer able to progress so until the devs fix the performance, i'm going to have to leave a negative review. I won't refund it because I want to support the devs, but I am a little disheartened that I bought the premium edition to get early access and this is what I get. Once again proving the old ''never preorder'' adage true.

This is the good stuff. A survival horror emphasising limited resources that doesn't expect you to kill everything that moves, good puzzle design, likeable characters, a cohesive plotline... things that Capcom could learn a thing or two from after their 2026 disaster. The gameplay including the UI/Puzzle design itself borrows heavily from Alan Wake 2 with all the welcome modern conveniences like colour coded Map, mouse driven drag'n'drop inventory, a 'mind palace' clueboard to keep relevant puzzle information sorted etc. And while spray-and-praying is a viable if somewhat wasteful option, most enemy designs have dynamic weakpoints to zero in on instead to keep the shooting fresh and engaging. Little leaping abominations can be ground stomped in a very satisfying Dead Space inspired fashion, and even leg-shotting humanoids and then going in for the ground beatdown makes for some great resource saving tactics. I enjoyed how rewarding exploration was in the form of bonus puzzles and dream essences - the latter used for the game's perk system which allows for a surprising amount of 'builds' or play styles (The amount of melee upgrades along with the Shotgun Axe weapon mod would differ wildy from my own focusing on defence, for instance). The game rewarding you with an essence after correctly grouping each puzzle piece together somewhat addresses the common problem of replays or NG+ runs since you will still be incentivised to find all the relevant clues despite knowing the answer too. Enjoyable main/NPC characters and VA work all around, and a compelling story with a pretty straight forward driving force (which answers the question of 'why don't they just leave?' like so many other horror games tend to struggle with) Need to shoutout the elephant in the room of this being developed in Ukraine in the middle of the war too. Especially one touching scene in the hospital chapter which broke my heart as they managed to include some firsthand accounts and correspondence from frontline soldiers in a way that felt organic and didn't betray the tone of the game. About my only complaint would be that the game employs the 'Lock you into a room and force battle' trope in several instances complete with infinite respawning ammo... This was what ruined Silent Hill f for me and it's sad to see it again in other horror games. Could have done without these entirely (Or even remove the boxes and make them *true* timed instead of relying on me killing things to encourage a more evasive gameplay style if ammo is low?) Apart from that, it was a fun hefty experience clocking into that survival horror sweetspot of between 10-20hrs (Steam says I played for 20, my end stats were 10, I figure cutscenes/inventory may not be tracked, also accounting for times replaying areas or reloading deaths/leaving the game running etc.) Only once did I think the game was starting to overstay its welcome, and that was in the finale chapter which was thankfully extremely short and more of a set dressing/exposition dump for the wrap-up. Overall one of 2026's better Survival Horror games IMO.
I really enjoyed the first game, this one, however, is a complete departure from the exploration and investigation aspects that made The Sinking City great. The developer has made a Resident Evil game instead. The horror is more based on grotesque creatures, rather than strange and disturbing happenings. It took me just under 10 hours to complete a playthrough, whereas the first game was much longer. I had a good to okay time, however i cannot recommend the game at its current price of 50 €. Buy on a steep discount.
Not like Sinking city 1 at all, but honestly that's fine. The first one was, in my opinion, just ok. The combat was bad, the detective portions were not very thought provoking, but the story was good and the city was pretty cool (though the more you were forced to run back and forth, the less cool it got and just became tedious). Sinking city 2 is very different game, its basically an RE game, but honestly I enjoyed it more. Combat, while not on par with other third person games, was much more enjoyable and the puzzles/detective work fit the new style of game with each level kind of being a puzzle on its own. My primary complaint would definitely be the inventory, the grid based system paired with the smaller levels really doesn't have me making in choices in what to carry and what to leave behind. Most of the time is just padding time cause I have to run back and collect anything I couldn't pick up before. Overall, a solid 7 or 8 out of 10 based on how into the story you get.
UPDATE: Before writing this review, I had left a question on the forum about the point number 1 below (the semi permanent red borders.) After writing this negative review, the devs MOVED my post with the question to the "troll" area, despite it being a valid criticism written without any personal offenses or bad words. For anyone considering purchasing the game, keep that in mind as well. A needlessly vengeful reaction to a proper question. Another person asked for an FOV slider and also got moved to the troll section. The more you read the forums, the more you noticed that a lot of valid comments and criticisms are just being moved to a less visible forum. There is absolutely no reason to behave like this. I wish I could give it a "neutral". The cons are always balancing out the pros. The most bothersome for me are: 1 - as you take damage, the borders of the screen get red, and this red line gets thicker and thicker. The unbelievable part is, unless you're at FULL HEALTH, there will ALWAYS BE A RED LINE around the screen. Not only is this very distracting, but I cannot understand how this was approved, and how there's no option to turn it off. There's a permanent heart on the bottom right of the screen (that keeps pulsating, by the way, also distracting) which tells you your health, so why the hell do you need to permanently hijack my screen with this red line???? How is something like this in the final game?? 2 - The enemies drop no resources whatsoever, so unless you REALLY have to, running away is always the best option. This might be a plus if you prefer the opressive approach, or a minus, if you're more of an "RE 4 or later entries" kind of person. 3 - there is a "dodge" button, but there are no Iframes, so I am not sure what is this to be used for.
