Shortest explanation possible from a veteran player. My ex introduced this game to me long, long ago and I played for 1000s of hours on her account after at first refusing to try it thinking I would not like it. It CAN be very addicting but at first, you might not think it looks interesting. BEWARE!! It sucks you in hard! As a family, we bought ALL the expansions & stuff packs PLUS the ENTIRE online Sims 3 store (very expensive, but there was a lot of help doing it, including contests winnings and gifts for creations). My new bride said "I don't like it," barely glancing at the slightly dated graphics. Today, we tested a new headset and she heard the sound effects while watching various things happen in my new game (I had not played for the last 2yrs). She was suddenly delighted and had not even seen the cute little toddler playing and wobbling about the house still learning to talk. She is teaching me Sims 4 (better graphics, simplified construction but much less mod-able & less in many ways while I teach her Sims 3. Sims 1 is fun and has options not available later. It is cheap so try it out? Sims 2 is ALSO inexpensive and is basically an upgrade of 1 in every way but lacks a few details that you might find fun in Sims original. Sims 3 was a GAME CHANGER. It VASTLY improved Sims 2 but got more and more glitchy with further add-ons. EA programmers were too distracted with putting out new materials, designing things that gamers should be designing (fabric patterns, colors, characters) and even coding in a large percentage of Sims to be gay. Their fashion choices for male characters were mostly not the preferences of straight males making the game unpopular with most males, BUT, scores of fan creator sites popped up worldwide creating vast amounts of material in Germany (plants, animals, European stuff), Mexico (great man clothes), USA (everything imaginable), Canada & Russia. The best stuff of all often came not from EA but from fans, especially the NRAAS fixes to EA programming errors (FREE downloads in multiple sites!) As time went on, EA tried duplicating their own versions of some of the best fan material. Their first try at a carousel failed but their 2d try was a spectacular success. PRO TIP: The PREMIUM CONTENT for sale on the Sims 3 store is EXCELLENT QUALITY, the best stuff EA programmed for Sims3 beyond the Expansion Packs. Some disgruntled former EA employees plus some fans offer pirate copies here and there on the internet but we secured all of our legally over a decade ago. The stuff and stuff packs are far less valuable to most players since you can download any "stuff" imaginable for free on numerous websites (TSR, Blacky's Sim site, etc.) STUFF PACKS ARE ENTIRELY OPTIONAL ... so optional in fact that EA REMOVED their most unpopular and controversial stuff pack ever, the Katy Perry pack (good luck finding that one! I did not see it online but have it on disk). PRO TIP 2: Limited funds is a very real problem so, the Expansion Packs I consider most essential are: #1 Ambitions #2 Generations #3 World Adventures (100s of hours exploring nectar making recipes alone!) #4 Seasons then the really cool $5 Island Paradise. I greatly enjoy Into the Future & had a real blast with Supernatural (the 1st one I explored extensively) but those two DRAMATICALLY alter the flavor of the game, and it's core value can be experienced without them. Late Night is not exactly my cup of tea but lots of people like it. I personally found the "everybody becomes a celebrity" thing annoying when you play friendly sims living normal lives but lots of people have a blast with the magicians, singers, dancers, etc. The shows ARE fun to watch other people do but for me, not really my personal favorite way to play. Pro Tip 3: The single BEST RESOURCE for teaching Sims 3 online is not on youtube but Carl's Sims Guides -hands down! The Sims's Resource and EA forums offer a lot of help too but Carl's is better organized and more accessible, easier and faster to learn from. Finally, what is great and unique about the Sims 3? OPEN WORLD!!!!! The open world is the key that makes Sims 3 the pinnacle of Sims programming tech, just be advised, their original programming was faulty. Even with their big patch (after they studied NRAAS for a decade it seems), you still want help from NRAAS. The 2d and 3rd best things in Sims 3 are the immense (nearly unlimited) options for designing lots, sims (the later EA sliders were actually FAN PROGRAMMING!) and for editing the worlds or even creating worlds. Examples: There are entire online communities dedicated to playing the Sims 3 with medieval or renaissance or fantasy flair. Recreations of real world cities or neighborhoods exist. I saw one lady in love with Victorian England so she has worlds, construction parts, lots, clothes and sims all designed for that one love. There are people making Tsarist Russia places, Shogunate Japan places and much more more. It takes 100s of hours to perfect a world BUT that is ONE way of playing not as available in Sims 1,2 or 4. It is like an exceptionally high grade Minecraft type game with vastly more options. I have seen one site dedicate to making the Sims 3 X rated (also some material or 2 4 if I recall correctly) Replacing the preteen/teen-friendly programming with advanced adult options and graphics is not what I want in the Sims, but some people consider it "essential." I can see the appeal with 100s of NSFW games available online, especially since using the Sims 3 programming in that way offers a VAST amount of options in NSFW play that those games cannot offer in 20 years of attempts at programming them. IMO The Sims should be a FAMILY FRIENDLY GAME, but if you are lonely and live alone, do what you want? Did you know you can play 1 household for 1 week, save, then play a different household for a week, repeating all the way through the world playing 12 different households in a single saved game series? Did you know you can play 2 DIFFERENT versions of robot sims in Sims3? Did you know you can play 1 sim, raise a family, then watch him die, only to play his child, then his grandchild, then his great grandchild? Did you know you can play a Sim in one world till that one feels "done" then move to another world? You can even do this with the prior 4 generation concept. Rotating through worlds also seems to reduce crashes in long games extending for months of real time but DO NOT BRING SIS FROM THE FUTURE TO THE PRESENT (crashed in all 3 attempts), except for simbots ... those seem to be safe. My overall point is this: The Sims 3 is the most flexible of all sims games for immersion in building and playing worlds and people completely under your control. It can be an exceptional learning tool for kids that have trouble concentrating in a text message world. It can teach fashion history, fashion design, architecture and can even give some real world lessons in life. Despite being hidden by Steam behind the family settings, it IS safe for preteens to do semi-supervised play. Who knows? Maybe a child playing might be stimulated to try the guitar, painting or to begin exploring the science of ontology? Maybe a kid playing a werewolf sim might be stimulated to become an entomologist, or a fairy player might be stimulated to study horticulture? Sims 3 might stimulate a desire to run a resort tr hotel or to buy remodel and sell real estate? It night even stimulate a desire to study art history and become an art dealer? The Sims 3 is an exceptional game despite it's original flaws (all corrected by fans). I rate it 10 of 10 for fun, replayability, creative play and for pre-teen to teen hobby play. It is NOT, hoever for kids or adults with severe learning disabilities due to its complexity.
po prostu nie dziala nie da sie nic zrobic zeby dalo sie przyjemnie grac xd
DEFINITELY recommend. best sims game. Also, doesn't update anymore- making it perfect for mods when your tired of updates every week.
love this more than any other sims games, it can be laggy at times and shuts itself off but its an easy fix. i didnt know how to run it at first but if ur game doesnt come on when you click play on the launcher here is how to fix it: have the launcher open then right click your taskbar, click task manager then find the sims 3 file thing, click it then find the details button, click on the other sims3 file then click the set affinity button, turn off all of them apart from CPU 1 then click play, it should go onto a black screen. then you click back on the task manager tab (click the windows button to get this tab up) and turn on all of the CPU buttons go back on the sims tab and it should be up and running hopefully this helped anyone having this issue!!
love the simulation game
a
best game ever
Sure, you can`t customize a lot, but I love to create my sims anyway and make a family, raise my cute babies. I just love this game.
Melhor sims de sempre
This is probably the best part of the game series. It's a lot of fun to play, even in 2026. The expansions are good, and they're worth getting. In Sims 4, the catalogs are released frequently, adding 10-20 items at a time, but here, even the catalogs are worth getting. All the expansions contain all the necessary content, which is why there are so few of them, but each expansion changes the game. I think everyone should play this game, as it's very affordable, especially if you buy the bundle with all the expansions.
