The Secret Order 8: Return to the Buried Kingdom

Если у серии игр аж восемь частей - это ещё не гарант качества и веселья. Так и вышло с Secret Order, эпопеей о вечном противостоянии двух практикующих магию тайных обществ Грифонов и Драконов. Пройдя "The Secret Order 8: Return to the Buried Kingdom" сразу после седьмой части, я заметила одинаковые призрачные объекты и загадки, упрощение поиска коллекционных предметов донельзя и слишком много кат-сцен. Похвальны отсылки к прошлым частям серии, роскошная обложка и хорошая прорисовка локаций, но по сюжету линейка себя исчерпала. Дизайн половины персонажей не впечатляет - он безнадёжно устарел для 2020 года. Аннотация врёт буквально обо всём: - Сара была волевой, а сейчас просто хочет на покой или хотя бы в отпуск; - встречаемые звери не уникальны (приматы с более длинными конечностями и фиолетовый фенек точно нет); - головоломки просты. Игра не содержит ни новых загадок, ни тайн. Когда велят починить оборванный канат ниткой с иголкой, а забитые гвозди вытащить акульим зубом - это ощущается как насилие над логикой. Я заинтересовалась серией именно на этапе выхода восьмой части, брала все по скидкам, но лишь две меня разочаровали, и финальная одна из них. Я оценила старания людей (за художественное и музыкальное оформление), но отчасти пожалела о покупке просто из-за того, что разработчики так и не смогли привнести в жанр ничего нового.

[i]<Game native resolution 1366 x 768 >[/i] What happened to the quality levels in this eighth game? The artwork is grimy, gungy and grainy. It needs to look slick and smooth for a proper pleasing fantasy feeling. It appears the native resolution was lowered from series standard 1600x900 to 1366x768. This is slightly lower than the native resolution 1400x900 of the first game! (not available on Steam) Despite the strange reduction in quality, there are finally some interesting things in the gameplay. There are a couple sections of action, where timing and reacting are required. It's not difficult in the slightest, but it's such a departure from the usual gameplay that I enjoyed them a lot. I don't know if there will be any more Secret Order games, but it has been 3½ years since Sunward last released a game to Steam. Over the course of the series, they took a very unique first game and pumped out generic, yet inoffensive, sequels. I like The Secret Order as a series, but I literally cannot remember what happened in any of them without looking back at my screenshots. These sequels were forgettable, to the max. I've looked for other games like the first Secret Order: New Horizon, but haven't found any. I'm sure there are some out there in the thousands of hidden object adventure games on Steam, but I'd really expected that the sequels would have been those similar games. Well, there you have it. I've now played and reviewed all The Secret Order games. (Except for TSO: New Horizon which I played but haven't reviewed because it's not on Steam.)

感觉还是挺无聊的，这一作是跟母龙相关，只能算是打发打发时间了。续章也是比较无聊，救找东西干啥的

El juego está bien, pero con el episodio extra solo da para 3.5 horas. Great game but with the bonus chapter only 3.5 hours.

Schönes Spiel, macht Spaß... die ganze Reihe ab Teil 2 ist zu empfehlen - die Story baut aufeinander auf, man kann die Teile aber auch einzeln spielen.

C'est bien fait, mais ça manque souvent d'explications et les objets à utiliser sont parfois assez improbables... Bon et puis j'en ai marre des jeux à base de dragons et d'objets inventés. Bref ça manque d'originalité. Jeu moyen.

This is an okay entry into a long game series. I think it doesn't feel too connected to the other games in the series but it's still a nice enough entry. For the puzzles there's very little we haven't seen before in this series, nothing too revolutionary, just a pretty straightforward game. 6.5/10
