The Plucky Squire starts out very strong, with fun aesthetics, great sound design and a cute little story. The gameplay feels like the old Zelda games mixed with some mini games here and there. However, the game stops being fun and turns into a very exhausting experience due to: - Repetitive and unengaging combat combined with senseless upgrades - Recycled puzzles - Recycled minigames - Gametime is way too long - Very weak level design after level 6 that's just packed with the before mentioned boring combat and bland jump and run passages - Bugs where your character might actually get stuck and force you to reload While I understand that this game is aimed towards a younger audience and the devs putting a lot of love into it, gameplay wise it's just not fun, which drags down everything else with it. There was a lot of missed potential and I would actually love to see a second part with more polished combat, more unique fourth wall breaks and minigames as well as gametime that's not overstaying its welcome.
game is honestly a good platformer from retro to early 2000 vibes with fun puzzles
