This is subnautica without the sub...or the nautica. I give it a solid 8/10 If you just need to scratch THAT particular itch, this game is for you. It's a bit less focused on giving the player a story or goal to follow than Subnautica was, though these elements still exist in some form. Rather, the game pretty much goes all in on the first person (third person optional) survival+crafting part that made subnautica stand out among it's competitors. By adding in automation like one would find in satisfactory or factorio, this game truly pushes you to build logistics networks of supply lines and resource miners, while giving the player plenty of biomes, wrecks and other things to explore for rare goodies that might bring your crafting gameplay to the next stage. When I called it subnautica without the sub or the nautica, that also applies to it's worldbuilding. Sentinel Corp, the guys that sent you, the player, to this planet, are basically Alterra if Alterra dealt in giving convicts impossible tasks to complete for their "penance". There isn't much here we haven't seen from other "hypercapitalism in the future/space" we have seen countless other times. Some other very clearly subnautica inspired stuff occurs as well, but I'll keep spoilers here to a minimum. All in all, while I wouldn't recommend this game for it's story-telling or particularly interesting plotline, what exists here as gameplay is exactly the stuff you need to satiate the survival-crafting sim hunger you may have felt. It starts out very slow, very grindy, but the game takes up enough of your mental time to make everything fly by real fast, honestly. I have barely started the dlc, and so far it's pretty much just more of the same gameplay of the main game. Don't buy if you wish to be wowed with new mechanics and interesting twists, but if "more of the same" is exactly what you're looking for, then I would say go for the bundle. For the hours I've already put into this game, it's well worth the price.
its perfect
Had this game since early access, devs added so much content to the game since. It used to be a barren land with not much to it and now there's multiple planets and dlcs. Overall a great mix of exploring and terraforming, but it kind of gets repetitive. Once you finish the main planet then you go to other two planets where you do essentially the same thing. For the DLCS, toxic planet offers something a bit different but the humble one is not worth in my opinion.
Really enjoyed this.
This game is super chill and engaging. I am having a lot of fun with it.
Ultimate number go up game. The same satisfaction you get from Satisfactory is here, but on a global scale. I *loved* watching the planet transform as flora and fauna came out of this barren looking planet. It scratched an itch I got from the one conservation Sims 4 DLC? The one where you slowly change the environment? Incredibly satisfying. But it could take some notes from Satisfactory. The inventory is incredibly limited, which made a lot of workflows (especially biomass) super tedious to complete. I chose the ending I did because I had finished terraforming and was kind of just done with the game as a whole. There are also explanations for how machines worked, but they're pretty vague. The map could be improved with better landmarks and indications of what's where, and I think markers you could put on the map itself (rather than dropping a beacon) would have made my life a lot easier. But overall, once you get over the hump of the first few stages (and have a good selection of movies/shows to listen to in the background. I didn't really like the OST or sound effects), this is a pretty rewarding game. 4/5 stars.
