Fun! Just keep your expectations realistic...it's no Fallout NV, and Obsidian is not the same studio it was back then.
I am so happy I picked up this game again in 2026 to play it all the way through. This game is fantastic. Here is what I like about it: - The story is more than just a device to move the character to the next part of the game, the writing is amazing, funny, and has a point of view. The point the game is trying to make about capitalism is a little bit on the nose but in a self-aware enough way that brings the player in on the absurd nature of the society depicted in the game instead being preachy. The hilarious dialogue and character interaction is a centerpiece in the writing and the environment around the player adds a rich layer to the story by showing what's going on and not always telling. - The voice acting adds a lot of depth to the characters. - Combat is really fun! The guns are fun to shoot and there is an element of silliness to it that fans of the Fallout series will enjoy. The skill system and range of gear allows the player to focus on the skills and combat styles they like using the most. Your character is very customizable in that way. Cons: - The inventory management system is very frustrating! But once you get a feel on what type of gear you prefer, you can break down the rest of it into parts to eliminate all the visual clutter that is hard to sort in storage. This game is a must play for those who love science fiction. [ ] Game of a Lifetime [X] Must Buy [ ] Highly Recommend [ ] Recommend [ ] Meh. The game is eh. It's bland, quite boring shooter with RPG elements. I had a laugh or two with moon head guy, but story is "capitalism bad" without any other options but to agree.
The Outer Worlds in my opinion is a masterpiece and is one my favorite titles I've ever played. Now even though I love this game I'm going to both judge this game as a fallout game (since it obviously is heavily inspired by characteristics that are present in the Fallout and Elderscrolls franchises) while also as its own independent piece of art. Firstly the story, writing, voice acting, role-playability, and dialog are amazingly done right, and are ridiculously funny and yet emotional. Due to this, I found myself so immersed that I actually cared for NPCs and what they felt. Also as a side note, weirdly unexpectedly this game's NPC faces are some most hyper-expressive faces that I've seen from NPCs from any games. Secondly the combat system is refreshingly not anything like Fallout where you point, shoot, and bad guy go bye-bye. Instead you need to think and act quick, while taking advantage of the TTD system and enemy weak-spot system, and will most likely have to diversify into using different ammo and damage types, while also maintaining your weapons. Thirdly, the environment and world building is something that has to be appreciated. Unlike most Fallout or Elderscrolls games, the game is divided into multiple maps rather than one continuous map, which can feel constraining, but is what allows each world to be unique and special. Before I get to my fourth reason, I'm going to talk about my issues with the game even if minor. The shading and lighting of this game is confusing, half of the time the game looks phenomenal, then the other half is so bad that it changes the skin tones of people so much that it looks like they changed races. Now there are glitches, but its only ever clippings, so nothing dire enough to ruin the game. Now for my fourth reason, it just works, unlike what Todd would claim for his most recent slop. Obsidian knows how to make games, and games that actually work, games that are fun. The Outer Worlds: 9.3/10 Murder on Eridanos: 8/10 Peril on Gorgon: 11/10
they removed this so you're forced to get their "spacers choice" edition now. There is no choice, just scummy tactics by a scummy development team and publisher. ♥♥♥♥ you.
Garbage RPG by a garbage studio.
A bland inoffensive game, I dont hate it, but I cant for the life of me find the power in me to play it. Its boring, and thats its greatest sin.
Story is not for me and it isnt even the slightest interesting currently im just running through the game skipping all stuff . Im not even bothering with doing side quests
