The North Pole

I recommend this game but it's mildly broken and buggy in its current state. It's a pretty easy game of collecting and platforming, and at one point solving a riddle. The idea is you are Santa and need to collect all the ornaments for the North Pole Christmas tree. You do this by doing various things for elves or finding them around the open North Pole area. The game has some surprising aspects, and is really just a holiday time casual game. Some of the missions just flat out break, like the Candy Cane race, I was able to pick up all the canes even after the timer stopped, but the elf didn’t register I had completed it. Or the snowman pieces reappearing after reloading the game even though its finished, as well as some weird out of place and oversized textures that spawned near the frozen lake. The game is very basic in nature and will likely appeal to a younger crowd or someone just looking to waste time with an easy game. I got all the ornaments except for one and I have combed over the entire area and done every conceivable thing and am unable to find this one, and with the bugs I wouldn’t be surprised if it just didn’t spawn. Although the game is broken at the moment, I don't expect that it always will be, but this game should likely not have been released with this many bugs. You can waste a lot of time and potentially have your time wasted if a bug breaks your save and prevents you from something. But the game is rather enjoyable despite the bugs. There's a little softcore elf violence that I find hilarious and some other just charming elements of the game. On sale this game is worth it for sure. The full price tag seems a little steep, but the snow effects and even the ability to roll around a snowball that grows as you roll it was a cute little discovery as I played. I only wish there was more to do, and more things to interact with. You could pretty easily finish the game in under 5 hours and really does not offer much replayability I imagine, but as is and for the time spent in The North Pole, it was cute and fun, except the race on the ice chunks, that was not fun and may be the most challenging part of the game. Fun and enjoyable short Christmas-themed game that really reminds me of older titles with a similar vibe. The only downside is a launch issue, on modern PCs the game won’t start properly unless you manually add launch parameters in Steam. It would be great if the developer addressed this, as it slightly hurts an otherwise pleasant experience.
