Fun simple game, but issues that i have two When you load into the levels there's the colourful static that would hurt someones eyes and even possibly give epilepsy and also the Bandit Boss fight was confusing at first. You have to aim at the sheriff first then fire which i thought your supposed to just click on the sheriff to see who had the fastest reaction time. Learned my lesson, then decided to try again with my crosshair in front of the Bandit Boss, not on the Boss, then the bullet aimed at the crosshair instead and I lose again. Issue i have with that is when your shooting during the Bandit section, your bullet can fly pass your crosshair and so i thought it stays the same with the Bandit Boss fight and it just goes to the crosshair instead?? Overall, a good and fun game regardless but needs some proper clarifications and removing the colourful static during the loading into the levels. Update: The dev have put away the static loading screen so its good now

"The New Sheriff" is certainly a novel idea for a game. It's a 2D retro pixel spin on the game "Guess Who?" but with ugly pixel "art". I have to say if games weren't a visual medium and were judged on uniqueness alone, this would be a top contender. You have to remember faces of bad guys, which you see on wanted posters, but the images don't stick around so you either have to go refresh your memory by looking at the posters again or just remember with your mind. Clever idea... and it's kind of why I have an issue with the whole "amateur" developer thing. This cool game concept was completely wasted on a garbage tier technical implementation. Imagine how wildly successful this would have been if the developer was a professional and working with a professional budget and a team of professional artists. That's how legends are made. Instead, we get this, which is, for all intents and purposes, a flop (just look at the player counts to see how well this was received by the millions of gamers on Steam). And that's a shame. This features really godawful, lazy pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 9 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this.
Really good & fun

The game is really enjoyable, with perfectly fitting graphics and music. The difficulty ramps up quickly, making the challenge engaging.
Fun!
