Infinite isn't infinite, let me go for HOURS at a time pls
I tried sticking with it but the longer I play, the less I like it. The later difficulties are really unfun and RNG heavy, boiling down to "did you run into an event that kills your run" or "did you find that one specific card that fits with this car on the first two nodes?" The fact that a LOT of the unlocks depend on each other and their unlock order borders on nonsense, just made me feel like I wasted my time grinding the tracks and cards, because these unlocks feel like homework so you can actually even try half of the builds, as a lot of them are missing key pieces. There's also no mute on background and the UI is ironically slooooooooooow. I'd wait like a year before buying, the devs here need to figure out and iron out the experience, right now all tracks feel the same and higher difficulties are just a slots machine. If you want to play for two hours, it's worth it, if you're aiming at doing "everything" and getting the completion marks, it's not. For me, it was not.

I guess they tried to copy the Ballatro DNA... not working for me. Too unoriginal.
Let's say good concept but boring after 1h. Nothing special.
I don't have much to say about this one. Absolutely fantastic game, lots to upgrade and unlock, a very satisfying gameplay loop and you can tell from the moment you complete the tutorial that a lot of effort and passion has gone into making this game. I highly recommend playing The Loopler, not only will it keep you coming back for one more loop but the developer has respected your time by adding in the option to play shorter than normal loops through a challenge along with longer than normal loops and other challenges for even more replayability and devs respecting your time seems to be an incredibly rare thing in modern gaming.
Sinks it's teeth in pretty quickly but got old after the second run. I played about 50 minutes and completed 2 runs. There is just way too much downtime while waiting for your car to complete the loop, by the time you get to the boss you stare at your screen for minutes without clicking or doing anything. This time could be spent better spent interacting with the game.
I never refund games, but i refunded this one. Its mostly RNG and boring. There are many better roguelites.
Great game! With all the roguelike deck builders these days I find a lot of them fairly stale but this one stands out. There is a surprising amount of depth and strategy here. Pros: +Music is chill if a bit repetitive, reminds me of Balatro. +Fun to look at. Simple graphics that suit the game well, watching the car reach ludicrous speeds and the numbers going up is satisfying. +Some fairly fun synergies if not a bit simple (which in a way is good you don’t need to guess you mostly know what works together) +decent variety of cars, tracks as well. - track layouts don’t have much impact on the game -repetitive but thats to be expected I can’t say a whole lot more I have only played through some silver difficulty. Still have to try gold and diamond. Might update review but I give this a SOLID recommendation. *Played on Steam Deck. Everything works but occasionally the controls don’t work and you have to use touch screen then they will come back so not a big deal.
Overall, this is one of the better roguelikes I've played recently. It is mechanically NOTHING like Balatro, but you'll see the comparison a fair amount because it has a similar "sauce" - that addictive bit of developer soul inside a game that makes it something special. Not to mention the soundtrack is immaculate. Absolutely slaughtered that, whoever did the music, specifically the drum track. Games are nice and quick, and you can expect to beat a run in around 12-15 minutes. Plenty of additional content and a very cool take on "Infinite" mode for those who want to go further. My minor gripes are the unlock system does take a significant amount of time to work through, and it does discourage you from using some of the cars you've unlocked due to a lack of items specific for that build. I was also a bit disappointed with the difficulty at lower levels, but it's satisfyingly challenging at later levels (and I've seen other people say it's too challeging in general, so it's likely very well balanced). However, none of this really detracts from the fact that The Loopler, in general, a really well designed, and surprisingly deep game.
It was fun for a run or two but usually when I finish a run in a roguelike it makes me want to jump back in with another build and I'm not getting that feeling at all with this game.
