[b]The Legend of Zuri[/b] is a lewd visual novel about Zuri's mishaps, and learning what's like to give-in to sexual hedonism. She's. . . a bit of a prude.
[h1]Gameplay[/h1]
This game plays-out like a linear choose-your-own adventure game. There are many clear-cut, [i]correct[/i] to progress, and failure to adhere to the chosen path will often result in an instant game-over. Be sure to save often, to reduce backtracking and to collect achievements (if that's something you're interested in). Once you reach a certain point in the story, you are permited to make your own choices, provided they fall within an in-game time limit.
[h1]Story[/h1]
Princess Zuri is having a conversation with her pal, Champion Dirk in the Royal Palace. He's a raging pervert, and Zuri a prude. He is her personal guard, and (apparantly) saves her everyday. He gives Zuri an ultimatum — she must indulge in his sexual fantasies, or lose her champion. She sends him packing home. I don't blame her, Dirk talks like a dumb-bass caveman. Siofra, Zuri's maid expresses concern towards her actions. If she continues to drive away her champions, she'll never have offspring.
The next day, Siofra and the princess go out for a ride on horseback.
A demon rips through her castle, and homes in on Zuri. She [i]transforms[/i] into her combat form, and defeats her adversary. They decide to forgo the the horseride, and instead they hit the Royal Bar. They are confronted by a Leilani the dark elf, whom recounts a sexual encounter of hers with a pair of [i]angry[/i] orcs.
She advises Zuri to steer clear of orcs.
Later, she is confronted about another demon (whom she swiftly defeats). She and Siofra have another discussion about Dirk, only to be teleported to a sort of "dream realm". During Zuri's exchange with the demon, a nearby witch had began a powerful spell to do away with her opponents. In this world, they encounter Nixie, a slayer of orcs. She too is imprisoned in this realm. They join forces and search for a way out. The party stumble upon a group of orcs, but Nixie coughs up her [i]goodies[/i] to subdue them.
They sneak away and find a room an occupied room.
There, they meet the "Gatekeeper", whom awaits for the "Keymaster". She holds one half of a key they need to return home. Siofra fools the Gatekeeper into giving up her key, and they head East in search of the Keymaster. Instead they find Tansy, a giantess who claims the Gatekeeper is [i]off her rocker.[/i] She does, however, have the second halve of the key — and she is willing to surrender it provided Zuri or Siofra tell her good, erotic story.
Tansy settles for a story about some [i]crime against nature. . . [/i] oh my.
They retrieve the key and locate the door it belongs to. It leads to the witch's lair, but she is joined by someone else — she and Dirk exchange a [i]messy[/i] embrace, [i]if you know what I mean.[/i] Zuri is infuriated by this encounter, and the witch sends her (and Siofra) home. However, what she witnessed changes her views on intercourse and marriage. She decides that in twenty days, she [i]will[/i] marry a man, and make some babies with him.
It is at this point in the story where you are free to determine Zuri's fate, as opposed to being railroaded into a preset path of "correct" choices.
[h1]Visuals[/h1]
The titlescreen is surprisingly quality — for an RPGMaker title, in terms of image clarity. You may have differing opinions about the 3D rendered models, but I thought the compisition to be alright. From "Options", you can adjust audio and a few gameplay prefrences. The in-game visuals rely heavily on 3D models, much like those of Daz Studio or Poser. The renders are passed through one or more filters, to give an impression that they are drawn, or perhaps to make them appear less like 3D renders. The CGs which make up the game are a mixed bag. The characters are hit or miss, and the the filters often create visual distractions.
In some cases, however, the CGs look pretty alright.
[b]- The Goods -[/b]
There are a [i]ton[/i] of unlockable CGs. Most of them revolve around side characters (and thier sexual mishaps), but once you progress far enough in the game you [i]might[/i] see the main protagonist get down and dirty. Expect female nudity and male-on-female sexual intercourse.
[h1]Verdict[/h1]
Though I have mixed feelings for this title, I that given the content and gameplay, this is a worthwhile game for the price. Sale or not, if you're a fan 3D renders and busty babes, you might get a lil' kick from this read. It's tedious backtracking (following a game-over), and I don't suspect this game is [i]terribly[/i] replayable. Regardless, if you like what you see, I'd give this game a try.
