This collection is more than a nostalgia trip; it's a tribute to the pioneering developers of the 80's and 90's, whose creativity laid the groundwork for today's gaming industry.

The 1980's and '90's were a pioneering time for video games and for us at System 3, a games company set up in 1982, by Mark Cale. These decades saw the birth of many influential gaming platforms, genres and franchises, including these System 3 games that are still beloved to this day. Preserving these games is crucial, not only for nostalgic reasons, but also for understanding the roots of modern gaming and our history at System 3.
The original developers of these games were pioneers, experimenting with new technologies and game-play mechanics that would lay the groundworks for today's video game industry. This title helps ensure that the creativity, vitality and innovation of our early game developers are not forgotten, but preserved.
The Importance of Video Game Preservation: A Message from System 3
At System 3, we have always been dedicated to pushing the boundaries of video game development. From our ground-breaking titles in the 1980’s on the Commodore 64 (C64) and Amiga platforms to our continued innovations in the industry, we believe in the power of games to inspire, entertain, and create lasting memories.
However, as we look back on our journey, we recognize the critical importance of preserving these computer and video creations for future generations in a physical and digital format. Video game preservation is not just about archiving old games; it is about maintaining the cultural and historical significance of an entire medium.
Why Preserve Video Games?
Preserving video games is essential for several reasons. Firstly, it ensures that classic games remain playable, allowing new generations of players to experience the titles that shaped the industry.
Secondly, preservation efforts provide valuable resources for researchers studying the history and evolution of video games. Developers, too, can benefit from looking back at older games to draw inspiration and understand the technological and creative processes that went into their creation.
System 3’s Legacy
System 3 is proud to have contributed some of the most iconic and influential games in the industry, particularly on the C64 and Amiga platforms. Our Last Ninja series set new standards for graphics, gameplay, and immersive environments, leaving an indelible mark on the action-adventure genre selling more than 23 million copies across the series on various formats.
Titles like International Karate (the first European game to get a CES showcase award (June 1986) for innovation and the first European game to get a US Billboard Number one) and its sequel International Karate + (IK+) were pivotal in the development of fighting games, introducing fluid animations, responsive controls, and engaging multiplayer modes with three characters that were ahead of their time.
Preserving these games is crucial not only for their historical value but also for understanding the evolution of game design and technology. We believe that the legacy of The Last Ninja series, IK, and IK+ deserves to be remembered and studied, as they represent the innovation and creativity that defined the very early years of video game development in the 1980’s.

Well, what can you say about revisiting a game 30 years after release? Does it stand up, was it all nostalgia, is it shallow by today's standards? Well I can honestly say that these games, especially the core Last Ninja games, are just as fun today as they were on their original release. With great puzzles, fun combat and a wonderfully cool vibe I probably enjoy these more now than I did as a grumpy teen who wasn't willing to play harder games. Presentation is also excellent, with different ways to enjoy the games and multiple versions of each so, for the price, this is an absolute steal and I can only hope more of their excellent back-catalogue are given the same treatment.
It's ♥♥♥♥♥ Last Ninja ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. What else do you want to know. Legendary. LN2 2 is my #1 game forever.
I first played and completed the Last Ninja games on my Commodore 64 and later again on an Amiga. The music and highly detailed isometric graphics were amazing at the time. They still hold up today and with the addition of modern features like save-states I am enjoying playing through them again. The bonus games are also an excellent addition to the collection.
The Last Ninja series is my all‑time favourite set of games. From the very first moment I powered on my C64, slid the Last Ninja floppy into the drive, and typed , I was amazed. The music, the graphics, the atmosphere — everything pulled me in. I didn’t put it down until I finished it. Even today, I still fire up my C64 to play The Last Ninja or just let the SID chip work its magic.
As a kid I played a lot of International Karate and IK+, both of which are included in this collection! To be honest, those games are the reason I bought it. And let me tell you, They are great! The look and sound of the games are flawlessly recreated! I used the Joystick that came with my The64 Maxi and that works great! I did play a little The last Ninja back in the day and that game also looks and feels just like I remember it! I never played the other games, but the music of The last Ninja 2 alone is worth a purchase! Man that Matt Grey wrote some bangers!
I loved The Last Ninja series on C64, now it’s playable on modern platforms and better yet all the different versions are here. This is the collection I have been wanting for decades.
Un museo interactivo del microordenador La pieza central de esta colección es la trilogía original: The Last Ninja, The Last Ninja 2 y The Last Ninja 3.
The last Ninja - absolut brillant! Unvergessen. 10/10 Punkte. PS: Sind andere Hits von System 3 in Planung? Genug Auswahl wäre vorhandenb! (Myth, Vendetta, Turbo Charge, Juice!, Flimbo's Quest, Dominator, Tusker)
It's hard to describe that the Last Ninja Games meant to me in my teenager years. I've played them numerous times as an adult, and even if I today can see some of the flaws in the game, it just makes them even more nostalgic for me. This collection was something I supported from the day it was announced. It's been a long wait, but boy has it been worth it. This package is awesome, and I finally get to test the games on platforms I never owned. I haven't experienced any bugs and the play value is most excellent. It's a trip down memory lane, but it has also given me new experiences, since I never had TLN games on any other platform than the C64. And what a treat it is to have the Amiga version of IK+ again! This game package is a must have for anyone who grew up with these games. But it's also perfect for the younger crowd, who wants to experience the games that the game designers of the 90s and 2000s were inspired by. They were standing on the shoulders of little giants, like System 3.
