About
In The Last Golfer, a robot scout from planet Earth is sent on a mission to explore and survey unknown planets. During its journey, the robot crash-lands on a strange planet with golf courses spread across multiple biomes. The guardians of these desolate realms make sure no intruders leave in one piece. The only way back home is forward through the fairways.
Each golf course consists of six golf holes. Players are free to progress at their own pace. They can soak in the sights to enjoy a leisurely round or try to hit a new speedrun record, chipping their way through a total of 54 challenging golf holes.
Here's how mouse input works with our innovative swing system: the animation on the right shows different swings you can play.
The key aspects of Golf include driving, chipping, and putting to get the best score possible. The physics has been developed for years to ensure the best off-Earth golf experience this side of Orion! The robot can find Mulligan tokens and use them to rewind shots. To enable maximum golf synergy, the robot can practice with a holographic ball using the Sim Shot mode before committing to a real swing.
Play the exciting Adventure Mode to experience a new kind of battle on the fairways! Players can aim and throw clubs to defend themselves from adversaries. The clock will keep ticking during combat, so players must choose to stand and fight or run away for a faster time.
After completing golf holes, travel along data streams to unlock hidden relics, which can be discovered using the robot’s built-in tracking system.
In the adventure mode, completing each golf hole unlocks a short challenge. Perform well to unlock one of the many trials that only the most tenacious robot will be able to conquer.
Players aren’t limited to staying on the course. The views are stunning, and discoveries await to be found with some exploring. The game features a day-night cycle, which provides a wide range of visual rewards. Chill out and watch the sunrise. Take advantage of the scenery with a state-of-the-art photo mode, because sometimes the best shots on a golf course are taken with a camera.

A unique adventure mode presents two ways to play the game: the Director’s cut and the Extended cut. The Director’s cut presents the robot’s journey the way it is meant to be experienced. After the Director’s cut of the adventure mode is completed, players can re-live the experience a second time with additional courses in the special Extended adventure mode.
Players can also go back at any time and revisit their favorite completed sections of the game through Chapter Mode.
Golf Mode provides a quick round of golf that lets players focus on improving their best score and time.
Nine exciting 6-hole golf courses designed to allow quick play sessions and maximum replayability.
Enjoy realistic golf physics including driving, wedge shots, and putting.
Features a modern swing system that allows a continuous club swing to closely mimic the physics of actual swing mechanics.
Includes the new Sim Shot practice mode, which allows unlimited practice shots before committing to an important shot.
Explore multiple biomes in an abandoned world and discover secret digital dream levels containing additional challenges.
Take shots of beautiful sunsets with the photo mode.
A game of intergalactic golf featuring a lost Viper Probe Droid™ prototype with alien exploration and intense golf club fights as second course.
Well, this is the second Golf themed game I have encountered on Steam that defies my blatant ignorance of the sports tag on Steam, and this one is even more peculiar than miniature golf balls dressed in hats.. In The Last Golfer you assume the role as a lost reconnaissance drone golfing for its life/activation in search of lost alien artifacts on planets largely populated by automated turrets, mechanical dragonflies and glowsticks. I can honestly say that the story part of the game is somewhat metaphysical and a lot of what you get to figure out will be due to visual storytelling in a somewhat barren, albeit extremely atmospheric world. However, there is a potential here for some great philosophical conundrums around spheres and the universe, and the sound design is absolutely stellar with a fantastic soundtrack as well as great ambience. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3492252838 The game in itself is a mixture of exploration, somewhat clunky yet satisfying combat, railbound data collection and plenty of golf! The journey takes you to various more or less alien biomes in which there are genuinely tricky och fun golf courses. You also get thrown into cyclopean structures filled with odd physical puzzles that shield some of the artifacts from your thieving mechadendrites. Now, I am not a golfer, neither in meatspace nor online and my one and only encounter with real life golfing was accompanied by a ball hating demonic shiba on a pay and play course, it went as well as one can imagine... However, as an ignorant amateur, I do appreciate the mechanics that this game presents. First and foremost, since you are a world class droid you can simulate your strikes before committing, and even better, build up mulligans to undo that particularly bad hit that sends the poor ball spiraling into a tar filled pit of despair.. Other than that the golf-physics part of the game feels really good, but since this is one of my first forays into the golfing game sphere, my experience is heavily skewed. But then again, a great game for beginners interested in swinging wildly while having an emotional breakdown as the ball bounces down a cliff into blissful oblivion. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3492253179 I played the first couple of hub maps before committing to a review, that makes for 30 total holes and all of them came with a varied complexity and flair. The minigames of collecting data along a railbound path added some diversity to the experience, as did the odd encounters with the remnants of the alien civilisation in the shape of monolithic minigames, all doable with a simple club and ball. As I have yet to finish the game I can not speak for the rest of the maps, but I look forward to even more alien golf courses, and exploring mysterious otherworldly vistas. As it says on the tin, this is a golf game first and foremost, and a great one at that. The combat is a bit odd, clearly functional with only your Mjölnir style golf club as a tool for bludgeoning, but not as smooth or responsive as one could have wished. The addition of chipping bombs and cacti at the enemies with regular golf swings was fun, but really hard to actually utilize. It was always easier to just run a gauntlet of the course, whacking down any pests along the explored path and then peacefully committing to intergalactic golfing. In the end the sum of all parts makes the Last Golfer an odd but satisfying experience, even for a non-golfer such as myself! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3492253750 Conclusion: For me this is a stellar recommendation. In the end I had a great time exploring the various planets, but I can see this game fall into that weird niche of being too weird for the ordinary golf simulator enjoyers, and too golfy for the lovers of the lonely robot fiction. Personally I found the golf soothing and lighthearted enough to be enjoyable, but I would have loved to see more story moments of grand revelation amidst the deceptively somber whacking of a ball across different biomes. So do check out the premise of golf in outer space with exploration and combat added to the mix, you might be surprised by its weird allure.. Only a few hours in, but I love how this game feels to play. The mechanics for using the mouse for swinging the club (moving the mouse back and then forward) to simulate a golf-swing are great. Fun & easy to do, but hard to master. The little 'puzzle' rooms I've found have been neat, favorite so far was the
one in a small room with panels you gotta smash with your golf balls.
Atmosphere of the game from the music & environment is really nice, hope this hidden gem gets the attention it deserves. Can already tell it's my favorite golf game I've played
I played this game for hours, I just could not put it down, great atmosphere with some really cool graphical moments when you start using your clubs and irons as weapons. The audio work really puts you in a strange new world. I love exploring and finding new puzzles and elements to the underlying story. OH did I say its also a great golf game ? Yes, loved this game. Now I got to go play more as I need to get to all the courses as well as discover more. Worth it.
I like scifi and robots and now someone has gone and added golf -- crazy -- somehow I am hooked. I was not sure about adding golf to my robots but it was fun.
This is a great pickup for any golf fan. The mechanics are unique and intuitive. I played the adventure mode that provides lots of variety to gameplay aside from just golfing, including puzzle rooms and beating stuff up with your golf club. If you're just interested in the golf though, there's a golf only mode too. Aside from the gameplay, the sound design and atmosphere are excellent. You can tell a lot of work went into everything. Give it a shot!
So I just got this game today and so far I am really enjoying the cool vibes. The music and atmosphere allow me to get lost in the game, it has to me a kinda retro 80's vibe. Enjoying figuring out the puzzles and all the little hidden additions. Turns out I'm a really bad golfer but I am getting better the more I play. Recommended if you want to immerse yourself in a cool quirky game. Glad I got it.
Didn't go into the game expecting the puzzle elements, but they ended up being one of my favourite parts. Physically swinging the mouse to hit the ball is great. Irl I think I am now better at golfing, gliding, and using my golf clubs as projectile weaponry.
Only a couple hours in, but its very promising. The sound design is good, and thank GOD for the sim golf shots when it comes to experimenting. Looking forward to continuing with this.
I got an eagle! I liked the golfing and like real golf, some of your shots are not going to land on the fairway. It's not your standard three button swing system rather you swing by moving you mouse and that felt pretty natural after a few tries. I like single-player games and the music adds a lot to the atmosphere too. Recommended!
Only a couple hours in at the moment but right from the start, the golf feels satisfying and in my first few minutes, I had nearly sunk a hole in one. Now the chase is on for that perfect shot! The rail riding sections are a blast, adding a challenging but relaxing mix up between holes. The combat in between shots keeps the pace fresh and exciting. Together, they make a unique gameplay loop that has me wanting to find perfection with every swing, ride and encounter.
