Reviews

blasphemous 1.5 in a bloodborne-ish way
The Last Faith — це похмура й атмосферна Metroidvania з елементами Souls-like, яка одразу занурює у світ темної готики.
A Dark, Brutal Masterpiece Every Metroidvania Fan Should Experience If you're a fan of dark fantasy Metroidvanias like Blasphemous, then The Last Faith deserves a place in your library. After completing the entire game, I can confidently say it delivers a satisfying blend of challenging combat, rewarding exploration, and an unforgettable gothic atmosphere. The world of The Last Faith is hauntingly beautiful, filled with cursed cities, forgotten cathedrals, eerie forests, and terrifying creatures that constantly keep you on edge. Every new area feels handcrafted with incredible attention to detail, encouraging exploration while rewarding curiosity with hidden weapons, upgrades, and secrets. The story is mysterious from beginning to end, gradually revealing its lore instead of handing everything to you. As you progress, you'll meet a variety of memorable NPCs, each carrying their own tragic stories and personal struggles. Their dialogue adds emotional weight to the world and makes the journey feel far more meaningful than simply defeating bosses. I found myself looking forward to every encounter just to learn more about the world's dark history. The gameplay is where The Last Faith truly shines. Combat feels responsive, satisfying, and rewarding. There is a great selection of melee weapons, from swift blades to massive heavy weapons, each offering a unique fighting style. Whether you prefer speed, strength, or elemental attacks, there's plenty of freedom to build your character the way you want. One feature I absolutely loved is the addition of sidearms. Instead of relying solely on melee combat, you also have access to pistols, muskets, and other firearms that fit naturally into the combat system. They're not just gimmicks—they become an important part of battles by allowing you to pressure enemies from a distance, finish weakened foes, or create openings during difficult encounters. It adds another strategic layer that makes combat feel fresh throughout the game. The boss fights are another major highlight. They are challenging without feeling unfair, requiring patience, timing, and learning attack patterns. Defeating each boss feels genuinely rewarding, especially after several close attempts. Visually, the pixel art is absolutely stunning. The gothic environments, fluid animations, detailed enemy designs, and atmospheric lighting create one of the most beautiful worlds I've seen in a modern Metroidvania. Combined with its haunting soundtrack and excellent sound design, the game constantly pulls you deeper into its dark universe. Overall, The Last Faith successfully combines the exploration of classic Metroidvanias with Soulslike combat while adding enough of its own ideas to stand apart. It's challenging, rewarding, visually gorgeous, and packed with satisfying progression. If you enjoyed Blasphemous, Castlevania, or other dark action-platformers, I highly recommend giving The Last Faith a chance. It exceeded my expectations from start to finish, and it's easily one of the best Metroidvanias I've played in recent years. Rating: 9.5/10 Highly recommended for anyone who loves challenging combat, deep exploration, rich gothic storytelling, and beautifully crafted pixel art.
