About
Lured in by shared nightmares, madmen travel to a remote island crowned by a silent Tower. No one remembers the journey.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is an open world RPG built around exploration and connection. You learn the land by walking it, following rumors, reading scraps of burned history, and meeting lost souls who wandered to the ends of the Earth, following the same feverish dream of a light buried beneath the Tower.
Somewhere in the depths is a theater with an empty stage, waiting for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the island's inhabitants, the phantoms they leave behind take their seats in the audience. The more seats you fill, the more the island listens, and the greater the applause for your final act.
And if you don’t want to descend alone, you don’t have to. The entire game is fully playable in co-op: explore the island together, delve into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that will decide the fate of everyone on the island, and beyond...
A wild, ancient island to explore
Follow leads, find shortcuts into the Tower, stumble into side stories, and piece together what is real and what is mere delusion.
Open Ended
Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.
A large cast of bizarre characters
Many strange folk find their home on the island. A giant toad learning to read. An ancient skeleton who just wants to swim. A musician from a faraway land hunts for something precious. Everyone has a theory for why you’re here. None of them agree.
The Amphitheater
Your choices change the world. Treat others with kindness and generosity, and a trusted friend will take their seat in your audience. Fail or abuse them, and something darker takes their place. The House fills either way.
Visceral Combat with multiple weapon types
Punchy combat against strange horrors
Full co-op
Play the whole game together. Explore the world, share the spoils, and decide who you will become, because the consequences belong to all of you.
The Tower does not call the whole. It calls the broken, the wanting.
Fill the seats. Start the performance. Find out what is buried at the bottom of the well.

I barely even started the game but I downloaded the latest hotfix, walked away for five minutes and there was another hotfix out. Devs out here working like their in a coal mine grinding for their daily bread. This games has already received more updates then payday 3 got in six months.
We are so back baybee This game is a clear love letter to morrowind, and I soy over all the references. It's such a cozy atmospheric rpg, lore rich and engaging. In it's current early access state it's more complete of an experience and stable than the majority of AAA titles at launch. I suspect lower end systems may have performance issues at times, but along with minor gameplay and UI elements, these are bound to improve with subsequent updates.

100% Morrowind Inspired RPG. I love it, so much freedom to do what you want and go where you want. Recommeded
If you like Morrowind or Oblivion, and you're sick of Bethesda's "it just works" philosophy or just need something new in the same genre, this is a must get.
This is a very Early Access title. And it's a pretty fun game! But it's very, very buggy. In fact, its so buggy that it's in a state where you will have to either use the console commands to get around issues AND consult the discord for issues with quests, missing NPCs, items, etc. It's quite literally more broken than older TES titles in my opinion. The game can also get pretty choppy at times due to memory leaks/VRAM usage issues, such that you will have to reset your graphics options or restart the game to fix those issues. It's not well optimized right now. If all that sounds annoying, you might want to wait longer until it's in a stable state, as its very clear there's a lot of work left to be done and a lot of missing content from the looks of it too. That said, the developers have been releasing patches and hotfixes since release almost every 24 hours, just to give you an idea. The good thing is, the community and developers seem very active which means this game is very healthy at the moment. Now it's just a matter of hoping it remains that way for the rest of its development cycle until release. In terms of gameplay, I think one of the bigger disappointments to me is the lack of mobs that aren't humanoids. This is probably because its easier for them to use the same armature than to rig and animate new ones at the moment. Even the crabs are people, crab people. But depending on how you look at it, it can be pretty funny. I do wish the combat was harder and there was bit more depth to this. At the moment, it does feel like it's very easy to break the game in your favor. But that's to be expected from the game at this state in Early Access.
Morrowind but more modern? Skyrim but less handholdy? Oblivion but better systems? I don't know, I just know the the vulture gorilla thing is scary and putting every point I have into speed still hasn't saved me. It is never as bad as it seems, it's usually much MUCH worse.
A game that wants to be The Elder Scrolls but is too scared to be different. Although my playtime was short—and I did refund it, as it is definitely not Early Access ready—all the core mechanics of Morrowind are here. To some, that's a feature worthy of praise. I just find it off-putting when a developer tries so hard to be something that already exists that they forget they are capable of creating something unique. From lockpicking to herbalism, the heavy Elder Scrolls influence drips from this game as a constant reminder of how hard it's trying to mimic its inspiration. Even if this were a perfect multiplayer replica of Morrowind, is it really worth rewarding a studio that just copies?
unoptimized slop.

Looks like the devs were tired of waiting for a proper spiritual successor to Morrowind and took up the challenge themselves. And so far I'd say they've nailed it, with their own unique vision in mind. Lage handcrafted world with attention to detail, there are voiced characters and communities scattered, I love the alien and strange quirks it has throughout, and the combat is typical. I'm pretty invested, cant wait to see more. May be too early to tell, but I'm putting this one in my favorites for those reasons (Morrowind!). Side Note: the Calyx race has digitigrade hindlimbs, just like the khajiit in Morrowind, a feature that Bethesda should've kept in later titles! Very cool to see.
