Firstly I had little hope for Morose, the style was nice but I thought it was toast! But now I can be justified, This game is worth the $10 tithe! The lore is quite sweet, the story well written, and with all the rhyming I'll say I AM SMITTEN! Now that isn't to say that there's no flaws here, a few notes would be polish in a heaping large smear! Some lines are to thin and reflect rather poorly, my monitor shrinks them and reflects them quite sorely. One puzzle is vague with no hints or two, (and if the community sees, they'll know what's referred to) and lastly the final ending is a lessened by cracks, the style changes and fluxes and goes out of whacks! BUT DO NOT BE ALARMED! There passion I swear! I highly suggest that you take part and share! This team may be small but by god they are mighty! With rhyming and monsters that appear upmost frightly! Rough edges I see may not soon remain, as updates (i think) plan to add more to the game. So PLEASE GIVE IT A SHOT! And soon say this verbose "I survived the Island of Doctor Morose"
By chance I came upon this quaint little game, A frightening title that kindled a flame. So I called up my good friends Willow and Sky, And said, “My dear ladies, let’s give this a try!” As we entered The Island of Dr. Morose, We held eldritch horrors uncomfortably close. With each puzzle we pondered, With every terrible fate, We couldn’t stop playing; we could not abate. The tale that unfolded was winding and long, That of two friends, both right and both wrong. Though some sections were just a tad clunky, And the inventory system felt a bit funky, My good friends and I found this game rather spunky. So I’ll try not to get too overly verbose: You simply must play The Island of Dr. Morose!
This game is quite good, I'm happy to say! It's got a few foibles, but none that should stay your hand from your wallet; it's 10 bucks, why not? Just take a short moment to hear what it's got! There's art and there's story, there's prose and there's lore! There's concepts and tension that's never a bore! The jank may be frequent, there's bugs there and here, but not with the beauty does this interfere. If creative settings are what you're here for, the jam-packed drawn backgrounds will draw you in more than any old typo or hitbox can stop. There's really nought else quite like it in this shop! I will warn again, though, about some decisions that meet with some reasonably honest derision. You may have to look up a resource or two, if the few lunar logics are things you can't do. I'd hint you to trial with items and cursors (I doubt that the UI devs out-earned the versers.) If mirrors you find leave you missing a trick, ask yourself first, "just what can I click?" The spiders, I've heard, are a bit of a nuisance (and I will be honest - this I really do sense.) But simply be slow, and it isn't so bad. There's nothing else here that prompts feeling too mad. At end of the day, it's a solid fun time, with beauty and wonder (and at least one rhyme.) It needed more polish - I'll say it, "for shame!" but this game is a true masterpiece all the same!
This quaint little game is personally recommended Fun connections to Wells, Suess, and Lovecraft intended A cosmic horror, art piece, and mystery in time This just to show: the game and reviews rhyme With all this in mind, be ready for reading Harder puzzles will come with deeper thought you'll be needing If you take my word you should buy it then All this to say I give it 7.5 / 10
Never before have I felt so targeted from any game in my life. To get into a specific Dr. Seuss style phase a few months ago, plus already loving Bloodborne and honestly all Fromsoft games in general, then hear about THIS GAME thanks to youtube?? If there's any specific target audience that the creators envisioned grabbing and playing this game, I'm DEFINITELY an example. Fell in love instantly. The blend of Seuss with the themes of all these legendary eldrich horror games is perfect to me. In awe through the entire thing! Hell, it was merely the intro alone that made me know that i NEEDED to get it. So yeah. I love it. It's a fun mix of two things I enjoy a great deal, and it scared me enough to make me yelp SO loud, which I haven't done in a good while. Enjoy that comment if you want! (note: I'm no professional reviewer or anything nor do I know what makes a game good or bad based only on gameplay and quality. I like it, I give a good review. This hit hard with me so I've been spreading word to my horror loving pals and leaving a review to hopefully get this game NOTICED MORE. It's only a matter of time, surely...>:) )
Honestly, I've never left a review for a game until now. This is genuinely one of the best games i've played this year so far. The atmosphere, level design, music, and characters are INCREDIBLE. It honestly really reminded me of the old point and click games i absolutely adored as a kid, right down to being just a little infuriating at times. It's far from impossible, but just hard enough to keep you on your toes. And i wouldn't call it outright terrifying either, more unsettlingly creepy with some REALLY good enemies and gore that makes you feel really bad for those unfortunate enough to pass away on the island (especially if they've met a fate worse than death). All in all, id recommend it to anyone who is a fan of old point and click games and is even moderately interested in the promise. It's a genuinely wonderful game that I felt obligated to 100%.
This game was not charming, this game was not good, If you're looking for Seuss-ical horror you should Be aware that the gameplay is boring and long And half of the poetic meter is wrong The whole time you play it you're bound to be vexed As you truly can't tell what you're s'posed to do next So you won't have much fun and you will be annoyed At the sheer mediocrity herein employed With puzzles obtuse and no real sense of pace This sad truth is something you'll soon have to face: Your craving for spooky nostalgia's been used The Seussical theme is quite thin and abused The tale is generic and hackneyed, it's true There's nothing much special here waiting for you. It's simply a ploy to get into your wallet And shameful so few other players will call it The scam that it is, But that's something I get: When a person's been fooled it is hard to admit.
great concept, a bit rough around the edges but overall executed well. well worth your time and money
