I had fun with it! Pros: Really expressive art style Tight combat I really connected with the story and the music Cons: Wonky camera at times but this could be because I was playing the game on my laptop.
My Experience I'm generally a big fan of top-down shooters anyway, but the aesthetic of this one in particular caught my eye. I liked the visual style - the "shoebox dioramas" constructed out of cardboard, and the explosions of boxes into their constituent sides. I also found the healing/reloading mechanic to be quite creative. Unfortunately, I found playing the game to be less appealing. The aiming did not feel particularly precise (a concern echoed by reviewer Hotmud9), and I found it tedious to switch between the ammo types necessary to dispatch the different enemies within the game. Echoing another concern of the aforementioned reviewer, I too found that the music became repetitive quite quickly (although it's initially rather catchy). Despite my appreciation for the novel idea created by developer Playvir Productions, I didn't enjoy playing the game itself enough to recommend the experience.
I haven't even gotten through the first act, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, this game is already touching my heart. This is definitely a hidden gem. Rich story (Who knew I would grow so attached to a box?), a good start on the music (It gets repetitive WAY too fast but I still love it), and an amazing execution of mechanics. The controls could use a bit more polishing, and saving isn't very prevalent from what I've seen, but by god, would I recommend it.
Fun game that's easy to play. I'm new to gaming and saw this on instagram so I thought I'd give it a go.. point-and-shoot play style meant I was able to hit the ground running and have been enjoying the character interactions (and the music lol)
my name is moxy and many say i'm kinda boxy so this game is quite literally for me! can you change gabber's name to gabriel pretty please it would make my day. it's my best friend's name and it would make the experience even more perfect. great game only issue is when you die you have to restart from the very beginning
