About

Scavenge and fight for your next day alive under the shadow of gargantuan war machines. Enemies in the game can literally tower over the battlefield. To put it another way:

The battlefield is unpredictable thanks to The Forever Winter’s Dynamic Encounter system: enemies have their own goals and agendas, operating in coordinated groups, undertaking full-scale battles — and they’ll intelligently react to your actions. The battlefield you leave won’t be the same one you return to.
Use your wits, stealth, and skilled gunplay to make it out alive. Choose your path in the shadow of the two great superpowers, loot the dead, and make it out alive. While the warring factions may ignore you at first, the more disruptive you become to their goals, the more they'll seek to remove you from the equation.
Ecological collapse compounded by runaway technological advancement brought us here: a dystopian world choked by 40 years of industrial-scale violence between two military superpowers, AI automata, cybernetically enhanced soldiers, human-machine hybrids, and relentless automated warfare. There's two sides to this war, and you're not on either.

According to other players the later parts of the game contain undisclosed AI-generated assets. After buying not only the game but some of the cosmetic DLC packs only to learn about this undisclosed use of generative AI after the fact, I now feel like I've been lied to.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
Great gameplay, horrible optimization for 8GB graphics cards.

Early access is not an excuse for bad optimization, especially if your game has been out for over a year.

The good: - Gameplay is solid and great - Music is good - Enemy variety is great - Weapon variety is great as well - Map design is good - Lore is perfect - Art style is indescribably good - Properly priced for an early access game

The bad: - Balancing is questionable, specifically the ammunition ballistics themselves, as .45 caliber is somehow stronger than 5.56, 7.62, and .50cal with zero downsides??? SMGs/Pistols end up being the strongest weapons in the game due to the .45 being available. - Gunhead needs to have a silent melee kill move. - Please stop spamming the night maps. I'm tired of them, or add an option to reduce them.

and the ugly: (micro rants) - Team-based gameplay is not good, specifically, the looting since (if you're playing public) everyone is fighting over the loot, and people REALLY do not like to share. They'll often use you as a meat shield, starting fights only to run off and start looting while you’re forced to be occupied with their fight. At this point, I'd consider the game PvEvP; at the least, I set myself private to not deal with loot goblins while I can finally farm money up in peace. - Optimization is downright horrendous for anyone who has an 8GB graphics card. It's basically a requirement to run with 10GB or more unless you modify the settings file to disable many of the "hidden" graphical settings to optimize the game for your system. Early access is not an excuse for horrible optimization, especially if the game has been out for over a YEAR! Yes, it has improved since it first launched, but a lot of the maps still run like garbage due to not providing ANY settings to properly reduce the texture sizes to properly fit 8GB GPUs. There is no difference in usage from high, medium, and low texture settings; I've seen zero performance impact turning everything low here either. All of the settings are "illusions of choice"

Personally, I loved the game—especially as an artist aspiring to become a concept artist someday; the game fascinated me like nothing else. To give you an idea, I only recently discovered it was actually a game; I used to just see the artwork on Pinterest and think it was incredible. Now that I'm playing it, I've noticed it's in a very raw state. I come from games like *Arc Raiders*, *Tarkov*, and *Helldivers 2*, where the attention to character detail is immense. Here, the animations are stiff and unnatural, and the weapons feel like generic assets with mobile-game-style animations. I’m hyper-focused on details, and it would be amazing if the game had better weapon reloading mechanics with proper animations (like not loading 3 shotgun shells to get 8 shots...) and smoother, more satisfying animations like in *Arc Raiders*. I’d love a HUD and looting systems as satisfying as *Tarkov*'s, where everything feels like ASMR. *Helldivers* has absurd weapon detail—details so minute you can actually see the internal mechanics working. Shotguns with exposed chambers where you can tell the ammo count just by looking because the shells are physically there; complex reload systems where an empty mag forces you to rack the bolt to fire, or where interrupting a partial reload leaves a round in the chamber. Physics, logic, and realism. Finally, proper combat AI—soldiers standing out in the open while shooting is just crazy, lmao. This game is incredible, and I’ve truly dreamed of a game like this for a long time. But it’s still pretty rough around the edges; right now, it’s not really worth playing. Personally—as I’ve said before—when it comes to shooters, those tiny details are a must-have for me. Sure, it might seem picky, but it’s the truth. If the current market follows that logic, why get left behind? While details are the heart of the experience, no one would call a game bad just because it has *too many* details; in fact, I’ve played many games solely because I saw clips highlighting that kind of attention to detail... (Muaxh03) YT channel dedicated in show detais in games... watch the helldivers ones - Summary: Better animations and weapon realism (think *Helldivers* or —*Tarkov* is incredible "gun porn," though very complex). Smoothness and fluid movement like *ARC Raiders*—not a copy, but taking inspiration from it. Better infantry AI, at the very least. Better HUDs with well-designed item art—like in *Tarkov*—and maybe an inventory overhaul. Imagine organizing your pack like in *Death Stranding*, where items have to actually fit. Like *Tarkov*, but instead of relying on better bags or clothing, you use light and heavy containers where you organize everything Tetris-style (with satisfying sounds, of course). Bonus: an advanced medical system with limb-specific health (like in *S.T.A.L.K.E.R. GAMMA* and *Tarkov*)...
Купил, установил. Запустил на 4060 ti, жуткие 25 фпс прямо в обучении. Снизил графоний на минималки и решил перезапустить игру. Не перезапускается))))) Прикольно!

As much as i had fun with this game the devs are brainless (the loot) Is a massive problem if i can't find a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wood plank for a tier 1 area and also the enemies spawns are still the same they were since launch with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ 1 shot characters and clunky ass hitboxes for my characters having to jump in place trying to avoid fire if a developer sees this PLEASE ADD A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PIN SO THE CHANCES OF GETTING THAT LOOT FOR THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BASE ACTUALLY HAPPENS INSTEAD OF DOING HUNDRENDS OF RUNS FOR A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ WOODEN PLANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
