About
Embark on this journey with only two goals: forge mighty equipment and uncover the truth behind a bizarre fire.
You are a skilled blacksmith and a scavenger who hunts for legends among the ruins. With your own hands you will gather resources, forge gear, and venture across perilous uncharted lands in pursuit of a secret someone tried to bury.
You will experience
🔨 Forging & Scavenging
This is no simple buy-and-sell game. You must personally delve into forests, mines, snowy mountains, and caves — defeat monsters with your blade and scavenge the bones, pelts, ores, and magical relics they drop. Bring these "trophies" back to your smithy, melt them down, and forge them yourself to create unique legendary weapons and armor. You can also install special offensive magic slots into your weapons.
⚡ A Rich Array of Skills
You're not just swinging a sword. From blade arrays that tear the air, lightning strikes descending from the sky, to homing magic missiles that chase enemies, and frost bursts that freeze everything — a wide variety of combat skills are yours to combine. Every strike can trigger a chain reaction: the afterimage slash from your basic attack is still lingering when the seeking orbs summoned by your ranged strike have already caught up with fleeing foes.
⚔️ Highly Flexible Character Building
By socketing gems, modifying weapon slots, and equipping rare relics, you can tailor your very own combat style. Become an impervious heavily armored warrior? Or a spellblade who calls down lightning? The choice is entirely yours.

The Flame and the Fart is an indie action RPG developed and published by Saucy Steel Games that immediately stands out because of its unusual and comedic title. While the name may initially suggest a lighthearted joke project, the actual game aims to deliver a surprisingly substantial blend of exploration, combat, crafting, and progression. Beneath the humor lies a fantasy adventure centered on mystery, resource gathering, and character growth, creating an experience that feels more ambitious than its first impression might indicate. The game's story revolves around a strange and dangerous flame whose origins are unknown. Players take on the role of an adventurer who is also a skilled blacksmith, setting out to uncover the truth behind this mysterious phenomenon while surviving the many threats scattered throughout the world. The narrative framework provides a clear motivation for exploration, encouraging players to travel through forests, caves, snowy regions, and abandoned locations in search of answers. Although the storyline appears relatively straightforward, the mystery element helps give purpose to the journey and keeps the focus on discovery. One of the most interesting aspects of The Flame and the Fart is its crafting system. Instead of treating crafting as a side activity, the game builds much of its progression around collecting materials and forging equipment. Players gather resources from defeated enemies and hidden locations, bringing valuable materials back to their forge to create stronger weapons and armor. This design creates a rewarding loop in which every expedition contributes directly to character improvement. Rather than relying heavily on random loot drops, players are encouraged to actively work toward their desired equipment through exploration and resource management. Combat is another area where the game attempts to offer variety. The descriptions highlight a mixture of melee attacks, magical abilities, and elemental powers. Players can unleash lightning attacks, freeze enemies with frost magic, or combine various skills to create more effective combat strategies. The emphasis on combining abilities suggests a system that rewards experimentation instead of repetitive button presses. As players unlock more equipment and enhancements, combat becomes increasingly customizable, allowing different playstyles to emerge depending on the chosen gear and abilities. Character progression appears deeper than what is commonly expected from a small indie RPG. The inclusion of relics, gems, equipment upgrades, and magical enhancements allows players to shape their character according to personal preferences. Some may focus on survivability and close-range combat, while others may invest in elemental powers and ranged attacks. This flexibility gives the adventure additional replay value and helps ensure that progression feels meaningful throughout the campaign. The world itself seems designed to support exploration. Diverse environments offer visual variety and help prevent the adventure from becoming repetitive. Moving between different regions introduces new enemies, resources, and secrets, encouraging players to search every corner of the map. The game's blend of action RPG mechanics with platforming elements adds another layer of engagement, as exploration often requires both combat skills and careful navigation. Visually, the game embraces a pixel-art presentation that fits comfortably within the indie action RPG genre. The art style may not be revolutionary, but it complements the fantasy setting and supports the gameplay effectively. The environments appear colorful and distinct, while the retro-inspired presentation helps create a nostalgic atmosphere without sacrificing clarity. Combined with the crafting and exploration systems, the visual style contributes to a charming and approachable experience. The Flame and the Fart does have some limitations. As a smaller independent project, it may lack the production values, extensive content, and polish found in larger RPG releases. Players expecting a massive open-world adventure or highly cinematic storytelling may find the scope relatively modest. However, the game's strengths come from its focused design philosophy. By concentrating on exploration, crafting, customization, and action-oriented combat, it offers a cohesive experience that understands its goals and stays committed to them. Overall, The Flame and the Fart is a surprisingly engaging indie RPG that delivers far more depth than its quirky title suggests. Its combination of resource gathering, blacksmithing, character customization, and action combat creates a satisfying gameplay loop that encourages exploration and experimentation. While it may not redefine the genre, it successfully blends several popular mechanics into an enjoyable fantasy adventure that should appeal to fans of indie action RPGs and Metroidvania-inspired experiences.
