About

The Final Ascent is a build-first roguelike deckbuilder that focuses on planning, strategy and experimentation. Climb through several areas and make your own path into the Tower. The higher you climb, the harder the encounters become as rule-changing Affixes start making each encounter more dangerous. Each choice could be your last.

• Blood Mage: Powerful attacks, card draw and energy gain for a price. Apply bleeds, drain life back and fight on the edge of power and survival.
• Guardian: A defensive powerhouse that shakes off enemy attacks effortlessly. Stack shields, build thorns and watch your enemies struggle to inflict damage.
• Berserker: Dominate any encounter with high single-target damage and multi-target attacks. Stack strength and overwhelm your enemies quickly.
• Trickster: Be rewarded for planning ahead and strategizing in every encounter. Utilize low cost cards, apply debuffs and cycle your deck to continue playing.

You are in control of building your deck your way in The Final Ascent. Pick 10 starting cards and begin your climb. You establish your strategy from the very beginning. As you play, cards and equipment you earn after a battle become a part of your collection, becoming available for use in subsequent climbs.

Compete against others in the Global or Per-Hero leaderboards. Chase the top ranks or chase a personal best and prove yourself.

I haven't ever really been a deck building game person but I found myself playing this for hours. 10/10 would recommend.
I've been following this game's development for a few months now and it's impressive how quickly this project came to life. It was built entirely from the ground up by a singular developer who's very hands-on with his project and the community he hopes to foster. As a Beta tester myself, I can confidently say that this game is 100% worth the price tag for lovers of the genre. There are several hours of gameplay between climbing higher and higher, trying to reach and clear your first Floor 100, testing the four heroes whom are all unique, acquiring greater rarity cards, acquiring equipment and pushing leaderboards. I've sunk in ~10 hours into the Beta and had not even maxed out ONE out of FOUR heroes. It's a beautiful project backed by a developer who cares about his craft — I very much recommend supporting him & his very first game, through whichever means are available to you. Even word of mouth goes a long way! Hopefully I'll see you in the Tower!

I had never played a game like this before. My friend asked me to Beta test. I figured I wouldn't put much time into it. All of a sudden, I spent my whole weekend figuring out the different classes. Then I work my way up the levels, learning a little bit each time. It was fun finding out the new cards and how I would be able to utilize them into my build. With my friends also playing, I would check the leaderboards to see how far they made it on their run, and how fast. This fueled me even more! Absolutely worth the price! I will continue to play and enjoy this game. So glad I decided to give it a try!
**TL;DR at the end** As a beta tester of this game I was very impressed with the state of the game in the early stages. What made that experience even better was the commitment from the developer. If a bug was found, he was quick to troubleshoot and repair. You can really see the passion in the project and I commend that. Gameplay is a blast. Collecting cards and equipment as you climb floors to push towards the elusive tier 100. Challenges and choices along the way make each run unique. And that is just the start... collecting those cards opens up a whole world of strategy that can help you to push to the top. 4 unique classes to choose from: heavy hitters, wombo-combos, slow and steady who can pack a punch, and a whole lot of hemorrhaging. One of my favorite aspects is the leaderboard. It allows you to have that next goal to push for. During beta, each time a new person reached the top of the board, it created a whole new challenge for us. TL;DR----Support this game. For the price of a cup of coffee you can get hours of entertainment from a great game with a passionate developer behind it.
I had a great time during beta testing. One of the things that I love about this game is being able to build custom loadouts instead of being forced to use certain starter cards/equipment. I love theorycrafting and it definitely scratches that itch. My time testing was almost all spent with the Berserker class. After 7 hours, I was still finding new cards and still had more that I needed to get maxed out. That's not including the other 3 classes that have several unique unlocks themselves. I'm looking forward to getting the rest of the cards unlocked/leveled so I can see just how fast I can push the leaderboard. I did get the game for free, but I feel like $5 is well worth the price for what you get. 100% recommend giving it a shot if you love deckbuilders.
Not a simple clone of Slay the Spire. The combat is flavorful, the deckbuilding is insanely in depth with the ability to upgrade cards. 10/10 will dump several more hours into it. DO NOT DRINK FROM THE WELL!
Get this game, easy to start great for deck builders and a nice change of pace making for great replay ability by having 4 different jobs to try. Leaderboards and different enemies to beat with each pass through. Does take a little bit to get to the end but doesn't feel stale as you play.
Fun little game, I don't normally play card games, however I do love Rogue likes. I've played the Blood Mage and the Berserker. Each curates its own unique playstyle. I like the progression system, as you play you level up your cards to higher qualities that persist for each run. Each class has its own unique cards and lets you level those specific cards up when you start a new class. NOTE: I did receive this game for free. With that being said it's fun and worth the price tag.
Alright, where to start with this one... First, I received the product for free during beta from my friend (the creator). We have known each other a long time and he is VERY familiar with how stubborn I am, especially when it comes to what games I want to play (still won't touch his FPS of choice). I have never even liked this genre very much, despite dabbling from time to time, one hour was my peak. This game, The Final Ascent, has been done differently. I feel like my brain has been hacked by subterfuge. He gave me the code, as a good friend I was obligated to give it a try. So I did... TEN STRAIGHT HOURS LATER I found myself building my deck and attempting to maintain the highest completion time of the Trickster class. It started slow, inviting, I grabbed a cup of coffee and began my ASCENT! Several hours in I realized I was out of Mt. Dew AND Coffee. The game sped up, limited by only myself. I went from Larz yelling at me for wasting turns and cards I should have used to min-maxing everything I could to beat the other Trickster on our closed beta leaderboards (I don't even know the other player as I write this). For someone who has 13 hours in this game currently, and can say without a doubt I believe in the genre now more than ever, here is what I would give as an expectation. 1. It'll start slow, curious, and might feel overwhelming as the climb becomes aggressively difficult. 2. Difficulty, failure and mistakes lead to faster climbs. You will plunder your way through where you already have conquered and move right back into the areas of difficulty. 3. You'll have fun building your deck differently, be it the starter setup of your choice or how you intake cards along the way. Trying different builds early is crazy fun but expect different limitations as you explore builds. 4. You will cuss at the screen. That's ok, it means it's working. You got your $4.99 worth once the first adult word is formed betwixt your lips. 5. Figuring out a powerful build that you also enjoy, you will by then have collected enough high level cards to win for the first time. The first successful climb to floor 100 is finished! Congrats! 6. The game is conquered, you beat the final boss, found your favorite deck build...Now it begins. The leaderboard calls like a siren. I thought I escaped the arcade days of old, until I spent all day at work thinking about how the other Trickster was probably in the middle of beating my time...I have only played the one class as of writing this review, I love it so much that I still have not had my fill of it. To think there are currently three other classes I have yet to venture! "The Leaderboard whisper..."
great little game and very affordable. good amount of replayability thru the card collection system which is unique for every hero. speaking of heroes, they have their own unique powers which adds a fresh new element to the genre and I thought that was cool
