I simultaneously love and hate this game...but mostly the former. The characters, the humor and the story are its greatest strengths. The approprietly named Feeble is charmingly pathetic and perfectly voiced by Red Dwarf's Robert Llewelyn, which instantly gives the game a distinctly British identity. In one of the first lines of dialogue, Feeble complains about bureucracy and calls his employers "fascists" (behind their backs of course). It's nice to hear the voice actors use such a wide variety of accents, which makes sense for a game where characters literally come from different planets. You'll meet a cockney death robot, a Scottish store clerk, an American announcer, etc. The graphics, as dated as they are, are actually pretty nice-looking and work well because of the art style. The backgrounds and inventory items in particular, are quite detailed and the low resolution actually makes them look like regular, hand-drawn graphics. The characters are more obviously CGI but since they're aliens and robots, it doesn't really matter because they have personality. Apart from some minor bugs that don't break gameplay, the game only has 2 main problems: 1) The interface. You'll often find yourself having to use for example an engine on a wrench instead of vice versa because exiting the inventory also closes the close-up screen where you're looking at the engine. Feeble, with his short stature and stubby legs, also walks realistically slow and unlike every other point-and-click adventure released since the mid-90's, (Full Throttle, Broken Sword, etc) there is no function that lets you travel instantly to the next room through double- or right-clicking. 2) The puzzles. While not illogical per se, you'll often find yourself solving a puzzle before knowing why you're doing it. There's one place where you have to press a button at least five times before something happens and the closest thing you get to a hint actually makes it seem like you have to do something complete different (this is during one of those close-up screens where you have to use items). There's also the arcade section, which combines the game's two biggest problems. In order the progress in the game, you'll have to win various mini-games, one of which is a harder version of Mastermind using 6 instead of 4 holes, another is a claw machine where you can't actually see the Z position of the claw and there's also a version of Simon Says where the final sequence is just a bit too long to remember. Oh, and you also have no idea which items you need from the claw machine so you'll be wasting A LOT of time on a poorly designed mini-game, only to end up with a bunch of red herring items. However, there doesn't seem to be a way to die or make the game unwinnable, which makes it easier to accept the high difficulty. (Though the prison segment is frustrating because you keep getting sent to a new room and the puzzles mostly make sense in hindsight.) Also, it's not really harder than any old Sierra game and it's much more logical than the first Discworld game. PROS: Story, characters, dialogue, humor and to some extent, the graphics as well. CONS: The clunky interface and high difficulty. (On the other hand, some people might enjoy the challenge and the puzzes usually make sense.) THE VERDICT: If you're a fan of 90's point-and-click adventure games and want a challenge, check this one out. Even if you'll be consulting a walkthrough, it's worth it for the story and characters. Those of you who haven't played Simon The Sorcerer 1 and 2 might want to check out those first though. They're superior games by the same creators (and even make a cameo of sorts in this game).
klasyk. Jedna z lepszych przygodówek
Super przygodówka z ciekawym przekazem. Można by nawet rzec, że dla doroślejszego grona pomimo grafiki.
top game from the good old days (very hard to play )
