About
"Abtos Covert man, I'm tellin' you. Easiest post there is, just a few nights and you're off the hook. Only the outpost, a small shrine and the rest of the forest can be seen...
What did you say? Strange shadows? Weird sounds? Paranormal activities? Those are just legends, bedtime stories man! There's no way there is stuff like that out there!"

Abtos Covert is a survival horror game in which you play the role of a soldier keeping guard on a remote outpost out in the woods. You must keep your wits while searching for the truth. Fend off the mysterious entities attacking the outpost and find clues from previous soldiers who had the same shift and survived every night. Things will only get harder as you progress, so stay vigilant. Can you survive every night and discover the truth behind the stories, or will you become part of the legend?

Deep forest setting: your hauntingly realistic battlefield.
Unique equipment: alarms, spotlights, lockers for hide-and-seek.
Eerie soundscapes: listen to tell where the danger lurks.
Varied threats: each enemy has a unique pattern. Adapt or perish.
Clues and backstory: piece together messages from guards gone by.
Nightly escalation: each shift is more terrifying than the last.

Well soldier, seems like you're that guy. You drew the short straw and now you are to be stationed in the Abtos Covert outpost, a place commonly known for being quiet. But the moment it actually happens, the rest of the platoon is whispering: "Haven't you heard the stories?", "...heard someone disappeared there...".
The stories about that place are innumerable. Human sacrifices, shadows running in the trees and souls still lost that sing a dreary song. When you ask your superior, he just laughs it off...

In Abtos Covert, the gameplay is an immersive blend of psychological tension and strategic survival. Your primary objective: survive the night. You are equipped with just cameras and motion sensors to alert you to the horrors that stalk the night. Make quick decisions: use your spotlight to reveal threats or hide and pray you're overlooked. Listen for distinctive enemy sounds; each one requires a different survival strategy. With limited power, every choice you make could plunge you into lethal darkness. Each night grows more terrifying, forcing you to adapt, strategize, and confront the haunting truth that looms in the shadows. Will you survive, or become the next cautionary tale?

The atmosphere is incredibly well done. You will never feel safe while playing this. Even when there are seemingly no threats around, you just never know what will come at you, as paranoia kicks in and as your heartrate rises to limits you didn't know were feasible. The game features a good variety of enemies that each require a simple yet unique way to defeat. The graphics are quite impressive for an indie title as well. All in all, a great little indie game made with a lot of passion, that offers a hefty amount of scares.
A Tense and Atmospheric Surveillance game that has puzzle and narrative elements. An interesting and quite chilling surveillance game where you find yourself on a remote outpost in the forest, tasked on protecting the base. It soon becomes apparent from letters you find, and from commentary on the radio from your ranking officer, that previous soldiers have witnessed strange occurrences. It's not long before you start seeing and hearing things, and it becomes a battle to survive. On each of the five nights you will experience a different foe which you need to work out how to defeat by reading notes and listening to commentary for clues. It can be quite challenging and quite nerve racking as you hear perimeter alarms being set off, or hearing things break nearby. The game will provide a few hours of nervous gaming. 10/10 the devs owe me a new pair of pants. The creepy atmosphere is very well done making you feel uneasy even where there is no threat. The place you need to defend is neither too big nor too small and the number of things you have to keep in check is also balanced. Overall a great experience!
I highly recommend this game. You can be really scared only by the atmosphere of it. It can be also very unpredictable because there is no particular way that characters hunt you. So it requires critical thinking and good understanding of your environment. All of the above are major pluses for me
A stressful but great indie horror game. At first it's a little difficult to understand what you're supposed to do. But when you understand your tasks and enemies it's fun to play. Sadly some of the achievements don't work. I hope the devs will fix it =)
Overall a very nice game of the horror genre. The atmosphere is great, graphics and audio are really creating a nice and spooky experience.
Great eerie atmosphere, feels like I am back in Aulonas again.
A fine balance between mystery and horror. I really enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the attention paid to tiny bits of detail. I had a great time playing it. Can't wait for more!
The AI of enemy NPCs is commendable, reacting dynamically to the player's actions. Each mission feels like a carefully crafted puzzle, encouraging players to strategize and adapt to their surroundings. Abdos Covert successfully balances challenge and reward, making every completed mission a gratifying accomplishment. GJ DEVS UwU :)
Summary
Great horror game with scary atmosphere and enemies that tests your reactions and resource management skills. Some bugs here and there. For an indie academic project at this price it lived up to my expectations.
I give it a solid 7/10

Pros
The game has a creepy atmosphere and environment, which are supported by the surprisingly good graphics. The outpost with the different props (Greek flag, lockers, broken/malfunctioning stuff, cigarettes etc) capture Greek military life fairly accurately. It can be hard to learn how to beat each enemy type since they have different mechanics, but it's great that the game doesn't hold your hand and instead gives you some tips so that you can figure it out yourself. The jump scares do the job of scaring you but they are not overwhelming and happen just at the right moment. Night 4 and 5 are exceptionally hard for those who aren't quick enough and can't smartly manage resources, but it provides a great challenge that keeps you constantly on your toes. The tapes you collect add decent immersion to the lore of the game and information about the enemies.
Cons
The most obvious bug the game has is not saving your audio settings on every launch, forcing you to go to the settings and re-adjust the sliders which is necessary because it is obnoxiously loud even for a horror game. On the other hand the dialogue volume is inconsistent, sometimes too low or too high and the voice acting lacks in emotion. The game has some rare performance issues where you lose about 10-20 FPS until you restart the night. It is unfortunate that for an indie game it cannot run on low end PCs. On some occasions the enemies all attack at the same time and the cameras go out, leading to game over which is very frustrating since it makes the game a bit RNG-based. Finally, it was a poor choice to include ancient Greek pillars near the church because it looks out of place and breaks immersion. The church itself should have Byzantine architecture with a round brick roof, not a wooden Catholic type with triangular shape.
