"Death is always final and a new life always begins with birth; in the beginning of all things and without any memories.” 10 из 10
I've loved "choose your own adventure" books since I was a kid, how I could affect the characters journey...and how abruptly a single choice, even a seemingly insignificant one, could end it. So when I saw this game, and how good it looked, I had to try it! ...turns out that wasn't the right choice. A young princess with amnesia awakens in a dark dungeon, with an unknown baby to protect, and a wicked mage who wants them both dead...can you help her escape? The game looks and sounds really good, there's no visible characters, just text with detailed 3D backgrounds behind it, there's also an alt mode that styles the graphics to look PS1-ish. The soundtrack isn't what you'd expect, but kinda slaps. The theme of the story is "death is always final", permadeath can work in visual novels, but this game did things about as DUMB as you can. Things start abruptly, as soon as you launch the game, some spooky synthstep start pounding out your speakers, and the story begins...with not so much as a start screen, but ok! Let's get to it! ...ah here comes the text! ...rather slowly... ok, VERY slowly... oh wow...it's still going... WAIT THERE'S MORE? HOW? The text crawls SOOO SLOWLY onto the screen, and there's no way to speed it up, unless you've been here already...we'll get to that in a moment... and there is a LOT of text. It takes about 5 minutes of opening text before you make your first choice. The story is very simple, princess tries to escape wizard, but each..."chapter"? is usually about 3 full screens of text, and before you think "Wow! this must be a really involved and detailed story!"...no...three things happen in each chapter: 1 "I can't remember anything!" 2"The wizard is right behind me, I gotta protect the baby from him!" 3"I should really stop internally monologuing and do something!" And that's every level, I'm not kidding. The game is RIDICULOUSLY overwordy, an entire screen can be filled with multiple descriptions of how hot it is....and how you don't know anything... You're given some vague hints about what you can do do, not what you should do, and then it's time for a choice...one will lead you onward, the others will kill you. But isn't that normal for these kinds of books? Yes, but here's the thing... ...Remember "All death is final"? THERE IS NO SAVE. You die, it's back to the start! You can't even leave the game and come back later, it's back to the beginning for you! Even ACTUAL BOOKS have save points! Just leave a bookmark at your last choice. This wouldn't be so egregious if you could skip text you've already been through...as is the NORM for VN's...but no, you cannot...however! If you've been through a screen before you can "speed up" the text! ...so it'll only take like 2 and a half minutes instead of five...and remember, you'll have to do this for EVERY level you had gotten thru before dying! But can you reasonably discern the correct choice? ...admittedly you usually can't do that even in real CYOA books, and you certainly can't here... When you die you're greeted with a full screen of "YOU AND THE BABY ARE DEAD!"...followed by many awkward seconds of waiting, and THEN it tells you what happened...while also being very condescending..."Careful examination of your surroundings may save you, NYEHEH!" Well, EXCUUUUUSE ME, Princess! I thought a skeleton hanging on a wall was a normal thing to see in a evil wizard's dungeon, it somehow didn't occur to me that he died from a hidden wall spike trap! ...and you know what happens next...back to the beginning...to watch the text slowly and unskippably crawl, for every level...only to then probably make another wrong choice....and repeat. ...but I DID IT. I made it all the way through out of pure spite! I DID IT FOR YOU, whoever's reading this!! It took over two and a half hours...to make ONLY 8 CHOICES...and get to the end.... Was it worth it? Does the princess get her memory back, and escape with the baby? Is the wizard defeated?
No, it turns out it was all a dream, except for the part about the castle being on fire. The final choice lets you pick one of four ways to burn to death with your family
I'd say "maybe there are other endings", but it made it pretty clear that there's only one. And that's it, that's what I worked so hard for
life sucks, and sometimes you can't do anything about it, even if you do everything right. This ending taught me that I'm more optimistic than I thought, because it made me personally angry.
This is an unreasonable slog to get through, there's absolutely no reason to punish the player with unskippable waits for making a bad guess...the story is bloated despite very little happening...and the payout...well you can see^ I encourage you to choose a different adventure.

Wer "the fairytale of death" spielt muss sehr viel Geduld und Spucke mitbringen.
I saw the game and got my hyped in a few seconds. I did not watch the trailer as sometimes screenshots say enough... Well.. Not always. The screenshots and information looked really promising and had me hyped. I downloaded the game and turned deaf in a few seconds, the music is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ loud!!! I found a way to fix it by using my speakers and lower the volume.. but come on! Using a dubstep with a little horror vibe to it doesn't fit in this game, please fix the volume and please fix the music. The game is just some animated screenshots with text and that's everything. It's very slow, not interesting and there is nothing you can do by just playing the game and watch some text popping on your screen like a story. I expected way more like movement, some features that can change the story, more visual effects and stuff like that. I mean, feel free to test this game out and give it a try but from my side... I don't recommend this game. Boring, makes you deaf, nothing you can do.. The only good thing about all this is the animated screenshots that look really good.
A stunning and more than just a forbidden sad story ... Even Stephen King can learn something here. incredible soundtrack! But only a few will be hard enough to survive. This is not just indie - this is art at its finest!
The story is very good with it's kinda mindblowing end.. truly a story which should be never written. Gameplay is a text adventure with multiple choices with animated backgrounds and music. You will die a lot and have to start from the very beginning. I would like to see some kind of text speed acceleration if you know the text already. In this state, i think many people find it too boring to make it to the end as death can't be avoided very often.

Its very boring even if its short, You can see most of the other reviews have .2 hours or less, The visuals and music are kinda nice though. But you get a choice every 5-10 pages, theres like 9 choices? A wrong option will kill you and you have to start again from page 1, Each choice pick is 3-4 options by the way. It wouldve been nice for some gameplay here and there but no. I dont recommend it. Especially if you dont like reading.
you and your baby are DEAD ...! Seriously I worry about dev's capability of development for game, Any one of them test-played this and thought it was a great idea? Looking at unskippable texts typed one by one by one could cure my insomnia, but those soundtracks are kinda lad.
