«The Endless Mission»
The Endless Mission holds true to the name, offering a ton of content to play in a variety of genre's. The majority being community created, but some of the one's built into the game, specifically the RPG story missions are excellent and well worth the $15 price tag. I hope the community created content can get up to this level. I made a video going over some different missions you can play right now. I hope to have a creation video up soon showing you how the world building works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwjoJ1RnM-o&t=1081s

[th] If you enjoyed my review please consider following and joining my Steam group, we have free game giveaway's every month, just click Follow and Join!
Amazing Idea but Poor Support
Would you rather watch than read? Me too. Check out the highlights of the gameplay here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8u5Xk3kOqU Endless Mission is a great idea on paper. Get a game with a wide set of tools and things you can do and unleash it on the community to let them go wild and see what they come up with. The issues start to crop up pretty much immediately however and I want to touch on a few of them because I think they are easily fixable. The first problem is that the tool set is not necessarily new user friendly. It basically looks like a 3d modeler program or an Unreal Engine level designer with way less customization. It's enough to scare people off before they even get started. There doesn't seem to be any way to do things quickly (like paste 10 sets of roads quickly) and navigating the list of thousands of objects can be tedious. I think this is the most critical thing to fix as players will see that, be immediately turned off by it and then leave the game. It has to be so user friendly that people are encouraged to hop in and try to design levels. Right now many levels are SUPER poorly designed because the tool set is just a headache to use, and that's not helping people get involved. The second issue is how the game physics work and how the game runs. Many of the features that people put into their maps either made the game run extremely sluggish or in extreme cases, made my computer full on crash (see the video attached for examples of both). The physics for the main character are extremely floaty and slidey (yes those are technical terms) which make tight platforming that people want to create in their levels VERY HARD TO DO. The physics need to be tightened WAY up in order to allow people to make levels that take advantage of tough platforming. It's just not fun to slide off a tiny platform for the Nth time because the physics are wonky. Mario Maker works well because you have control of your character and don't have to worry about the physics system. Lastly, for a community content driven game there is just barely any content in the game right now. As of my video on the game there were only two pages of levels created by the community and they totaled to around 21 stages. The game has been out for a week and there are only 21 stages made by the entire game's community. For a game that is built ENTIRELY around UGC there is just not enough game here to justify a purchase right now. I believe they need to fix some core issues with the game and simplify the editor before this game will be picked up by a wider audience. tl;dr - Fixable issues, pass until they are resolved. Sehr sehr viel Potenzial.
Currently the game is too laggy for me to play despite the fact I met specifications, and got worse as I continued into levels. To be expected with early access. There is definitely a good game here if it can get a larger audience and work on stability issues. Also the main character who acts as a tutorial guide is obnoxious to me, but I've grown tired of the scatter brained "lol that was random" goofy characters. The voice actress does a fine job and the other voice cast I have heard have been fine. Still it's early access and there is a lot of potential here. I have seen RTS style games, horde mode games, platformers, and racing games, and there seems to be the tools for more. Definitely worth checking out once its more stable.
Editor has zero instructions or info-bubbles and is laid out like a 3D editing program in that the items list is a literal list with small thumbnails, and all the scripts are un-commented code. I tried editing the speed of my vehicle in the racing game example, but despite setting it to billions and renaming the vehicle from 'Medium' to 'ummm', nothing was changed when played. The RTS sample is a first-person hack n slash where you stand there adjusting sliders to fight and move objects while the town is attacked. The platforming game is alright, albeit you can't see where you are jumping to without tilting the camera from top-down. You move in the air as fast as on the ground making it easy to miss the platform. I joked that the character, controls and design reminded me of Fur Fun, but now I wonder. The only custom game I thought was interesting was the Talos Principle -style puzzle where you use the hacking mechanic to move & rotate the shapes to get the gems. That level should have been the first level rather than a confused AI voice in an over-detailed, full bloom hallway. Medium settings lag quite a bit in the hub building, and lowering the resolution only makes everything blurry. I thought Endless Mission looked interesting, even mocking a review from 2019, but it felt like a dump of Unreal Editing for the sake of graphics, rather than making it fun and enjoyable for the player. There is too much going on with not enough direction. If you want a game with industry-level editing, consider starting with the editing software on its own. *One reviewer stated there are 21 games as of their review. I found 7: 2 Samples 4 player-made 1 hidden in the basement, which I only discovered by accident. If there is a menu to chose maps from, it was not made clear by the voiced-AI guide.
