NOTE: The Steam version is on a newer engine but has CUT CONTENT. I played the DLsite version (older WolfRPG engine) which has more content and a superior fan translation. This review is based on that better, more complete version.
PROs:
✅ A unique and genuinely challenging puzzle-based gameplay concept. ✅ Features very cute monster girls with fun, stereotypical personalities. ✅ The lewd scenes are oddly "wholesome" and comedic, with long, well-written scripts. ✅ Includes a "cheat room" to let you bypass the difficult puzzles if you choose. ✅ Cute art style and a funny, comedic script.
CONs:
❌ The core puzzle gameplay becomes incredibly tedious if you're just here for the scenes. ❌ The main character is an annoying and unlikable "♥♥♥♥." ❌ Very little CG variation in the scenes; they rely almost entirely on text. ❌ The gameplay-to-reward ratio is pretty bad, requiring a lot of effort for each scene. ❌ The kinks are very tame.
Comments:
This is a weird one. It's less of an H-game and more of a high-effort puzzle game where the reward is cute, wholesome scenes with monster girls. Recommending it is tough because it depends entirely on what you're looking for. The core gameplay is a surprisingly deep puzzle system where you manage keys and resources to clear dungeon floors efficiently. If you want to play it legit and aim for a high score, it's a difficult and intricate challenge. For anyone just wanting to see the lewd content, however, it's a massive, tedious grind. The game thankfully includes a cheat room to bypass the puzzling, letting you brute-force your way to the scenes. Or... you can be a lazy bastard like me, drop the game, and just download a full save file to check out the gallery. The reward for all that effort is... unique. The scenes have very little CG variation and are mostly long, comedic scripts. They're tame and "oddly wholesome" rather than degenerate. The main appeal here is the cast of cute monster girls and the funny writing. This is completely undermined by the main character, who is an annoying loser whose entire motivation is to get some monster girl juices. For puzzles, lewd and wholesome humor. Give it a try. For legit H-scenes, grind is not worth the effort. I'd recommend just get the save and check the gallery.
🌟 Total Score: 6/10 🌟
Game status: ❌ Dropped – but checked the gallery Reviewing info: How I review/rate & other info on my website through my profile. (desozone)
The gameplay, the OST and the art are good. The game's full of puzzles and the mechanics can prove quite challenging and entertaining. I'm giving a thumbs down because it's mosaic'd, even with the official patch. If I had known I wouldn't have purchased it. Don't support censorship.
第二部魔界国官中也赶紧上架吧,在不上架我都快要逃票了
QUICK FACTS
Type: puzzle game with RPG Elements (RPG Maker) Developer: Galaxy Wars Publisher: DLsite Price: 10,79€ Est. playtime: 10-14 hours Censorship: yes (patch available at publisher’s website)
THE GAME
MECHANICS The Dungeon of Lulu Farea (DLF) is a puzzle game made in RPG Maker. You guide your character through a 60-level dungeon, with levels of increasing difficulty. On each level, you encounter various monsters and doors blocking your way, interspersed with keys and buffs for you to pick up. The challenge is pick the right route, without spending any unnecessary money, healing or keys. To make matters more interesting, there are various secrets and easter eggs to discover; sometimes merely for fun, sometimes crucial for achieving certain milestones. The game has a normal and hard mode. Normal mode is for casual players who wish to complete game the without too much effort. Hard mode is really challenging, even for experienced gamers, and may require several restarts/replays to figure out completely. Controls: Keyboard only. Use Ctrl to fast forward dialogue. STORY You play as Cruellus, an adventurer with delusions of grandeur. His life goal is defeating and then marrying all female monsters in the famous Dungeon of Lulu Farea. At the start of the game, this goes horribly wrong: Cruellus is embarassingly defeated by the dungeon’s bosses and left for dead at the dungeon entrance. But if nothing else, he is perservant: starting from scratch, he sets out to achieve his dreams. The story doesn’t take itself too seriously; it’s intentionally and overly cliché, often poking fun at many tropes common in the genre. Progression is largely linear, though there are various small side quests that may lead to different endings. QUALITY DLF is an excellent game. The puzzle part in particular (hard mode) is cleverly designed and will keep you entertained for several playthroughs, if you like this kind of thing. Interface and music are rather basic, but get the job done. The story doesn’t add much in terms of immersion (nor does it try to), but Cruellus’ antics will probably put a few smiles on your face.
THE GOODS
SUBJECT DLF puts the game first, only ‘rewarding’ you with H-scenes after you’ve progressed through parts of the dungeon. Nearly all feature encounters with the various female monster bosses you encounter every few levels. Most scenes are fairly vanilla, though not always voluntary (at first). Keywords:
bondage, fluids, forced, monster, solo, straight
CONTENT 24 scenes made of static CG’s. ACCESS You’ll encounter roughly half of the scenes automatically as you make your way to the dungeon, as you defeat the various level bosses. After defeating a boss, you’ll later on get the chance to visit them at their house deeper in the dungeon and see an additional scene for each of them. This always requires you to do some additional task, which is specified at the front of their house. Additionally, there are a few scenes that only unlock after achieving the True Ending. The game has no NG+ option, nor does it have a gallerly in the main menu. After finishing the game however, you’re transported to separate area where you can save the game and re-watch every scene that you previously unlocked. QUALITY The lewd is of average quality: nothing too fancy or surprising. I did enjoy the writing though, again because it’s fun watching Cruellus struggle.
VERRO’S VERDICT
If you fancy racking your brain for a few evenings, DLF definitely is worth your time. I thoroughly enjoyed it; there are few other indy H-games that gave me a run for my money like this one. The lewd is a nice bonus, but nothing more than that: you’ll probably be too involved with the puzzle to care much for the sexy intermezzo anyway. Originally played this on DLsite some years back, but recently it's entered Steam like so many pornographic games have done in the recent years. You play as a character who isn't interested in treasure, exploration or even just glory for slaying monsters, but a guy who is interested in "laying" all the monster girls that live deep in the dungeon and you're treated to hentai images for defeating them. Often gaining stat boosts too. All the monsters in the dungeon are static and have their own HP, Defence and Attack Power stats that you need to overcome when getting in contact with them to play out a turn-by-turn auto fight. Along with this there are multiple locked doors that require and eat keys so you have to plan carefully where you wish to go and what enemies to face as you need to level up before taking on the far more dangerous creatures and have to pick which stats you want enhanced too. It's a pretty fun game for what it is, though at times I've often gotten stuck or lost. I've only managed to get the bad ending so far, so I am curious what other endings await.
