It's a Golden Idol-like puzzle game, but with considerably lower stakes (no one dies)! The puzzles are a bit harder, but generally build well on each other and don't require huge leaps of logic. If you like the genre, this is a fun addition.
Great game just wish there was more of it! Puzzles were really good and got progressively harder so it was a really fun challenge. Please make more!!
Fun deduction game.
I’ve been hooked on the Golden Idol series, chasing that same thrill of deduction through other detective games. Rootrees are Dead had its own spark, but then I stumbled upon this gem and it felt like finding a familiar spirit in a new form. The mechanics echo Golden Idol, yet the vibe is modern, sleek, almost inviting. Don’t be fooled though as the puzzles bite harder than they look,. If Golden Idol captured you, this will too. I only wish the scenarios stretched longer, but what’s here shines bright: a reminder that mystery games live not just in their puzzles, but in the way they make you feel: curious, challenged, alive.
Super fun for anyone who's a fan of Golden Idol-like games! I almost gave it a pass because of the art style, but the reviews persuaded me to try it out, and I'm so glad I did. (The art style is actually pretty great, it just suggested a different type of game to me.) The challenge level hits that sweet spot between difficult enough to be interesting and not so hard that you're banging your head on a wall fruitlessly, IMO. I only had to use the hint system once, on the very last level, and the hint I received was both cryptic and revealing enough to be sufficient. Absolutely worth playing for any fans of the genre!
This game is terrific. It needs more players! The art style may be a little on the simple side, but the cases are well designed and fun. There's not much of a story - it's just for people who are looking for some interesting deductive scenarios that are willing to be a notch more intricate than when you'd get from Golden Idol or others in the space.
What a terrific puzzle game! This is in the same vein as Case and Rise of the Golden Idol, where you view a scene or group of scenes and fill in the blanks about what happened, but with more everyday stories. I really enjoyed my time with and recommend it to anyone who likes these types of puzzlers. I would play as many of these types of games by this team as they care to create.
If you are looking for a deep story this is not what you want. But it is a good puzzle game that tests your logic and patience. It starts out simple but gets really difficult and challenging a couple of chapters in. You have to pay close attention to the clues and details. At times it seemed quite impossible to figure it out with the clues given but there are also visual clues that aren't clickable that might help you solve it. I usually try very hard to not look at walkthroughs and use hints and when I played Obra Dinn and Golden Idol I managed to not resort to cheating. But this one had me using the hint system more than once because I got frustrated and couldn't figure it out. For me personally I would probably have enjoyed the game a tad more if there had been just one or two more clues when it came to identifying who was who in some of the chapters or if I'd been able to move on to another chapter when I was stuck and try again later. But all in all I don't regret buying the game. It was worth the price and gave me 12 hours of game time.
Fun little time passer, interesting stories for each level. A bit confusing to figure out what's going on at times, but I chalk that up to my own comprehension as much as how the game presents each story. Would not mind playing more from this dev!
A very fun and challenging game! Each case focuses on a different family member and you have to figure out why their day was terrible. The stakes are pretty low but there's a lot of drama going on behind the scenes which was fun to discover. The puzzles themselves are often like huge Einstein puzzles and they get pretty complex in the second half of the game. I enjoyed digging into each puzzle but I'd recommend taking a break between cases, especially the last ones. All in all, had a great time, would recommend to Golden Idol fans.
