About
The Book of Outcasts is a sequel to TKS: Conussia and The Book of Bondmaids, taking place 100 years after the events of those games.

The icy lands of Conussia have not changed much in the last hundred years – the winters are still biting and cold, the people still stoic and proud and the lands still beautiful and haunting, but the scars left after the Lich King overthrew the Romanzak royal family all those years ago remain.

A disgraced former soldier, you are recruited into the Tsarina’s secretive Sparrows to investigate and hunt down the rogue mage Carpenter, taking a position as a Constable in a remote village far from civilisation but built on the ruins of an ancient and terrible city. Quickly, however, you become embroiled in the workings of the mysterious order of undying wizards known as the Outcasts.

The Book of Outcasts is an RPG dungeon crawler, horror and management sim where you play as either a male or female character, travelling through icy forests and sweltering hot jungles tracking down the mysterious mage in the wooden mask, who may hold the secrets of your own past.

Your character will need to gain allies and equipment if they are to survive, as well as ensure the village will survive the winter. The snows are bitterly cold in Kemskaya Volost, but the fires and the beds are warm…

(The Book of Outcasts is strictly 18+ due to mature themes and extremely strong sexual content, including depiction of consensual acts, BDSM, gay/ lesbian sex, graphic descriptions of torture, use of drugs and alcohol, group sex, murder, strong language and swearing, full male and female nudity, and prostitution).

Good game ruined by aggressive VISA/Mastercard censorship. I know it is not a developer's fault.
This is really more of a mixed review. The story is good and the writing is mostly really well done. I do not regret the money spent or my time and will likely play it again. I don't generally like visual novels, so that says something. The images can be lacking, or simply don't match what you are reading (such as the totems being discribed as tigers, but are clearly a person). There are not a lot of text/translation errors, but when you hit one it is jarring. Sometimes things are mentioned, then nothing in that regards ever happens (such as the ape king saying if you ever come back he would mate you, then you return repeatedly, even to his camp, and nothing ever happens). Since they have started on the next game, I doubt anything will be finished in these regards... I hit an image missing error in a part added by a patch and had to reinstall to fix it, so the image wasn't included in the patch.

这代对比上代属于是全面提升了,但是H CG感觉有点少。。
The Book of Outcasts, developed and published by kamti, is an ambitious dark fantasy title that tries to weave together multiple genres—narrative-driven adventure, dungeon crawling, and light settlement management—into a single cohesive experience. It places a heavy emphasis on mood and worldbuilding, presenting a bleak and morally complex setting that immediately signals its intent to deliver something more serious and atmospheric than a typical indie release. While its scope is impressive on paper, the actual experience feels like a mixture of strong ideas and uneven execution. The narrative forms the backbone of the game, following a disgraced figure drawn into a shadowy order tasked with confronting supernatural threats and political conspiracies. The world itself is harsh and unforgiving, filled with fractured factions, lingering magical corruption, and a sense of constant instability. Early portions of the story are particularly effective, drawing players in with mystery and layered exposition that hints at a much larger conflict. Dialogue and environmental storytelling work together to create intrigue, encouraging players to piece together the broader picture. However, as the game progresses, the pacing becomes inconsistent, and certain narrative threads lose focus or resolution, diminishing the impact of what initially feels like a compelling setup. Gameplay attempts to support this narrative ambition through a combination of systems. Exploration and dungeon crawling form the core loop, with players venturing into dangerous areas to gather resources, uncover secrets, and engage in combat. Alongside this is a settlement management element, where players are responsible for maintaining a base of operations. While this dual structure suggests depth, the two systems rarely feel fully integrated. Combat, in particular, lacks variety and responsiveness, often feeling repetitive after extended play. The management side, while conceptually interesting, operates more as a background feature than a fully realized strategic layer, limiting its influence on the overall experience. The world design contributes to both the game’s strengths and its weaknesses. There is a clear attempt to create a large, immersive environment with multiple regions and distinct areas to explore. At times, this scale enhances the atmosphere, reinforcing the sense of isolation and danger. However, traversal can become tedious, as movement between locations is often slow and lacks meaningful interaction. The absence of efficient navigation tools further disrupts the pacing, turning exploration into a chore rather than a rewarding activity. Visually, the game adopts a dark, stylized aesthetic that aligns well with its tone. Certain elements, such as character artwork and key environments, stand out and help establish a strong identity. However, the overall presentation is inconsistent, with noticeable variation in quality across different areas. The interface also presents challenges, with menus and navigation systems that can feel clunky or unintuitive. These technical and usability issues can interrupt immersion, making it harder to stay engaged with the experience. Another defining aspect of The Book of Outcasts is its mature thematic direction. The game explores heavy and often explicit subject matter, integrating it directly into both the narrative and gameplay. This approach gives the world a raw and uncompromising tone, but it also narrows its appeal and can feel uneven in how it connects to the broader story. For some players, this intensity adds depth; for others, it may come across as excessive or distracting. Over time, the game’s limitations become more apparent. Repetition in combat, lack of mechanical evolution, and technical roughness contribute to a sense that the experience does not fully develop its ideas. While there are moments where the game’s ambition shines through—particularly in its storytelling and atmosphere—these are often offset by issues in pacing and design consistency. It feels like a project with a strong vision that has not been fully refined. Despite these shortcomings, there is something compelling about The Book of Outcasts. Its world is distinctive, its tone is consistent, and its attempt to combine multiple gameplay styles is admirable. For players willing to engage with its systems and overlook its rough edges, it offers moments of genuine intrigue and immersion. It may not deliver a polished or tightly integrated experience, but it does provide a glimpse of what it could have been with further development. In the end, The Book of Outcasts is a game defined by its ambition more than its execution. It offers a dark and atmospheric journey supported by an interesting narrative foundation, but is held back by uneven mechanics, technical issues, and pacing problems. It stands as an intriguing but flawed entry in the indie space, best suited for players who value worldbuilding and tone over mechanical depth. Rating: 7/10
Game is great and taking the best parts from other series. Dev is also very responsive and involved!
Good game.
