About

14th-century Europe. Bloody conflicts sweep the lands, and the Black Death comes for the survivors. It's a moment of weakness - and that's all they needed. Vampires seize their opportunity to walk out of the shadows and claim what they've been denied for centuries: freedom, and the power that comes with it. Other creatures of the night follow their lead. Legends turn into reality, and history as we know it will never be the same.
You play as Coen, a young man turned into a Dawnwalker, forever treading the line between the world of day and the realm of night. Fight for your humanity or embrace the cursed powers to save your family. Whatever your choice, the question stands: is your soul worth the lives of those you love?

Experience and shape the plot the way you want. Embark on the quest to save your family, or swear revenge on your sire and destroy everyone standing in your way. Discover ancient secrets lurking in the valley. Rush in head first or risk taking time to prepare. Go alone or search for friends and forge unlikely alliances.

Experience two different gameplay loops, offering distinct abilities to choose from, mysteries to uncover, and varying ways to achieve your goals. Experiment with different approaches and discover how the world reacts to your actions.

Every action - and inaction - shapes the world around you. Your family’s days are numbered, and every time you take on a quest, time moves forward, compelling you closer to the end. Choose carefully whom to help and whom to leave behind. You will not have time for everyone. The world waits for no one. And neither does the villain.

Defy gravity, become a brutal force of nature, and use your supernatural skills as a vampire. Or raise your sword, and employ powerful magic to take on opponents as a human. Experiment and adapt as your form changes during the day and night; each has its strengths and weaknesses.

Venture through the hand-crafted open world and discover all it has to offer. Roam through the lush forests, the vast plains, the treacherous swamps, the steep mountaintops, and the medieval settlements. Explore forgotten ruins, find remnants of an ancient civilization, and uncover truths that should probably remain hidden.

Experience the beginning of a brand-new saga built with love for the role-playing genre. Immerse yourself in a visually stunning world powered by the next-gen Unreal Engine 5.

The story and character writing are genuinely good, but seriously, why do I have to get jump-scared just from
reading a skill book?
I personally really, REALLY hate jump scares. They make me extremely anxious and tense, sometimes to the point of causing actual physical discomfort. I can accept the jump scares that happen as part of the story in the prologue, but getting jump-scared when
I open a menu just to read about a skill
is something I absolutely cannot accept. The physical discomfort caused by these frequent jump scares is honestly starting to overpower my enthusiasm for exploring the story and learning more about the characters. The combat system is playable, but pretty mediocre overall. Character controls also feel uncomfortable, with what seems like a noticeable input delay. Sometimes I just try to turn around and the character takes a whole detour, and I've literally ended up falling off a building because of it. Also, the camera becomes incredibly shaky indoors, which makes me feel quite dizzy. The optimisation isn't great either. My PC isn't particularly powerful, and with DLSS set to Ultra Performance, I can barely maintain around 60 FPS. It's still playable, and the graphics look decent enough, but the seemingly random crashes are genuinely frustrating. The game also gives me quite a strong *The Witcher 3* vibe. Despite my complaints, I'm still looking forward to the later quests and story. I also enjoy the character progression and the process of gradually becoming stronger, so I'll keep playing.

12/10. Ta gra to arcydzieło. Fabuła, grafika, ścieżka dźwiękowa i questy to magia. System walki to najlepsze czego doświadczyłem w grach kiedykolwiek. All Hail Rebel Wolves.
Feels like an RPG in a way few RPGs do. Choices feel impactful. The time limit gives a rare sense of urgency.
tldr: $40 game in my opinion. Cons: Dawnwalker has probably the most infuriating combat to try and learn at the start. It's super difficult to change targets, the combat camera is a nightmare to control, and top that off with the new block/dodge/attack mechanic I've never seen before. I think the game throws too many enemies at you too quickly to adapt fast enough. However, there is brief moment between anger and boredom, that makes you feel like you're an Elden Ring god. Block, attack, attack, block, attack, dodge. Get through a 1v5 fight and come out the other end not even getting touched feels amazing. The muscle memory starts to kick in, but once it does, the game's combat becomes boring, because it never really changes. The enemy variety isn't there enough to push you harder or break up the boredom. Maybe I'll try a harder difficulty later to see how that feels, but I'll wait to see if they fix the combat camera before trying that. Most of the bosses can be pushed against a wall and be stun locked into oblivion on normal difficulty. After the prologue, the game drops you into a Ubisoft Open World. I wasn't a fan of this after an excellent buildup. The story then just goes on pause for a few hours until it ramps back up again. So the pacing seems a bit odd in that bubble but felt great everywhere else. Pros: It's so much easier to write about the things I did not like than the things I did like... The voice actors nailed this, I cannot think of a single performance I didn't like. Facial animations were all really well synced. The story was above average. There are so many unknowns still unanswered (I could have missed them in my playthrough too) that should have been answered at the end. I'm a person that loves to complete all side quests. Dawnwalker "30 days" to beat the game is plenty of time to do everything you would want to do. Just don't go too crazy clearing out every camp or vrakhir objective and you should be fine. If you need to spare some time, don't spend your perks. The game makes you a god midway through. Overall, I enjoyed my time with Dawnwalker. It's worth the price under $40.
Combat is absolutely broken in this game-- I've played KCD 2 (to completion) and all the Witcher games as well as a host of demanding combat ARPGs and this combat is BRUTAL. Enemy aggression is OFF THE CHARTS and every encounter has multiple enemies that are fast and really SUPER tanky compared to the player; no time is given for someone new to this combination of mechanics to learn what is expected and to gradually develop-- just better hope you have lightning swift reflexes and solid hand to eye right off or you are going to get KILLED. Over and over. I feel like I just paid $70 to get kicked in the face. Thanks for that sadistic lesson in buyer beware, Rebel Wolves. I won't be paying you for a second helping no matter how good your writing team, world- building, and narrative elements of the game otherwise were because you chose to make combat highly frustrating for anyone lacking perfect reflexes. Thanks a lot. Not sure what you were going for here, but if I CAN'T play the game it doesn't matter how much I liked all the other elements. Shame. I'm out--nor would I recommend this title unless you have a VERY high tolerance for painfully humiliating failures.
Couple of times i crashed and had loading problems, but honestly the story feels great and impactful. Im genuinely overwhelmed with to many choices that feel like they will dramatically change my story, so far ive really had alot of fun with our chat on twitch lilyxlevy
