Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 22 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A great old classic! I played this SO MUCH when I was a kid - THIRTY-FIVE years ago! (Wow I'm old now!). If you have sound problems, such as cutting out or just going silent during air combat, try changing the IRQ of the soundblaster DosBox is emulating from 7 to 5: Right click Skies in your Steam library, go Manage > Browse local files. Find the dosbox.conf file and edit it with notepad. There will be a section about soundblaster emulation, it's probably set to use sb16 with IRQ 7. Change the IRQ to 5, save, and hopefully your sound will work correctly. This fixed it for me. Happy retro gaming folks!
this is a gem, of all my old games i loved as a kid this one ranks top, still ranks top 2 on my list of all time great games ^^,

The Ancient Art of War in the Skies, released by MicroProse in 1992, is a distinctive blend of strategic planning and arcade-style aerial combat set during World War I. Developed by Evryware and designed by the Murry brothers—Barry, Dave, and Dee Dee—the game draws inspiration from Sun Tzu's The Art of War, infusing its gameplay with principles of military strategy. This title stands out for its innovative approach, combining top-down strategic map navigation with side-scrolling dogfights and bombing runs, offering a multifaceted experience that was ahead of its time. The gameplay is divided into two primary modes: strategic planning and tactical combat. In the strategic phase, players manage their air forces, plan missions, and allocate resources on an overhead map. This involves setting objectives, determining flight paths, and deciding on targets, all while considering factors like enemy movements and weather conditions. Once a mission is underway, the game transitions to arcade-style sequences, where players engage in side-scrolling dogfights or execute bombing runs. These action segments, while simplistic by modern standards, add an engaging layer of interactivity to the strategic planning. Graphically, The Ancient Art of War in the Skies employs a top-down perspective for the strategic map, providing a clear view of the battlefield and facilitating effective planning. The tactical combat sequences are presented in a side-scrolling format, with smooth animations that capture the essence of aerial combat. While the visuals may appear dated today, they were impressive for the era and effectively conveyed the game's themes. The sound design complements the gameplay, with realistic engine noises and weapon sounds that enhance immersion. The game's depth is further enriched by its inclusion of both historical and fictional campaigns. Players can engage in missions based on real-world events, such as battles involving historical figures like Lord Kitchener and Kaiser Wilhelm II, or delve into fictional scenarios featuring characters like the enigmatic Helmut von Spike. This variety offers a broad spectrum of challenges and experiences, catering to both history enthusiasts and those seeking imaginative narratives. One of the standout features of The Ancient Art of War in the Skies is its campaign editor, which empowers players to create custom scenarios. This tool allows for the design of unique battlefields, assignment of aircraft and pilots, and crafting of narratives, providing endless replayability and fostering a community of user-generated content. Upon its release, the game received positive reviews for its innovative combination of strategy and action. Critics lauded its engaging gameplay and the depth provided by the strategic planning elements. However, some noted that the arcade-style combat sequences could be challenging due to their controls and mechanics. Despite these critiques, the game has maintained a cult following, with players appreciating its unique approach and nostalgic value. In conclusion, The Ancient Art of War in the Skies is a seminal title that successfully merges strategic depth with interactive combat. Its innovative gameplay, historical and fictional content, and robust campaign editor make it a standout entry in the genre. While it may not boast the advanced graphics and mechanics of modern titles, its charm lies in its simplicity and the engaging experience it offers to players. For those interested in the evolution of flight simulation and strategy games, The Ancient Art of War in the Skies remains a noteworthy and enjoyable classic. Rating: 6/10

were there wars in the sky in ancient times? hmmmmmmm
An old gem!
What a great classic. It has a RT dynamic Campaign. There really isn't really any modern game that surpasses the mechanics in this game.
