About
You have crash-landed on a lethal, radiation-soaked planet, and you are running out of time. A scorching sun that burns everything in its path is coming your way. Your only hope of survival is a massive mobile base too complex for one person to operate. You are forced to make a decision no human has ever faced: creating a crew of alternative versions of yourself.
But your solution may just become your biggest problem.
You crashed. You are entirely alone. The sun is a death sentence, and your mobile base must keep moving to outrun it. With no rescue coming, you must find a way to operate it, or you’ll die.
When the planet itself is your enemy, every second spent standing still brings you closer to ash.
To survive, you must move. To move, you need help. Forced to use the base’s advanced quantum technology and the planet’s unique resources, you must create The Alters: alternative versions of yourself. Brought to life by a supercomputer that turned your alternative life choices into reality, they are your only hope. They bring the specific expertise and capable hands you drastically lack, but they also bring their own human baggage.
A crew of ‘yourselves’ is a psychological nightmare. Every Alter arrives with distinct personalities, memories, and regrets. You aren't just managing resources. You are also a relationship manager to yourself, mediating conflicts and confronting your past choices lightyears from home.
As tensions rise, your Alters will clash over how to handle the mission. Keep them sane and keep them together, or your own egos will destroy your only chance of seeing Earth again.
Your rolling base is your lifeline, your factory, and your home. Customize and upgrade it to accommodate your growing crew. Research cutting-edge technologies, manage crucial life-support gear, and manufacture what you need to survive. Turn your base into a self-sustaining powerhouse capable of keeping both your crew fed and your systems humming.
You cannot hide inside the hull forever. To fuel your base and progress your research, you must step out onto the hostile planet's surface. Venture out into unpredictable anomalies and heavy radiation to mine essential resources.
But watch the clock, as every expedition is a high-stakes gamble against the oncoming burning sunrise.

Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

poor game so much hope but its bad very bad.
Отличная игра. Определенно советую к прохождению любителям выживачей, моральным выборам. ДЛЦ слабее, но тоже стоит тоже пройти.
Today, I finished The Alters on PC through Steam. I finished the base game and the first paid DLC Last Variable once, using cheats to go through the story at my own pace, and choosing the dialogue options that worked for my version of the characters. It took me around 45 hours. The Alters is a warm yet intellectual hug of a game that fuses elements of resource management, base building, survival and third-person action with varying degrees of success, for the benefit of a thought provoking story told through the many lives of one man in a planet of dangerous wonders. First things first, most of the elements within it are definitely not appealing to my style of play, as I find heavy resource management and survival gameplay to be tedious and I often think of it as unnecessary padding, so I was already fighting an uphill battle to find enjoyment in the experience. Much to my surprise, that didn't take long, as the meat of the experience, at least for me, was in the dialogue, the complexity of its storytelling, the heart behind it, and in the concept of its plot itself. The story follows Jan Dolski, a builder sent on a space-faring mission to gather a fabled element known as Rapidium, for the purposes of bettering humanity. However, something goes wrong, and the rest of the crew mysteriously perish after crash landing. Having to mine and survive in this perilous radiation-heavy planet, while upkeeping a base all on his own, Jan is forced to make a philosophically and scientifically dubious decision of using said element to create other versions of himself with different simulated life paths that grant each of them the skills necessary to repopulate every position in the crew: his Alters. Quickly after starting, and thanks to my beloved cheats, I was side-stepping the parts of the game that I didn't care for, while being deeply enthralled by everything else the game was saying to me, and in the end, I am sure this experience will stay with me for a long time. Technically speaking, it's a very pretty game where it counts, with a wonderful soundtrack and a vastly underrated and entertaining vocal performance by one Alex Jordan, who plays every single version of Jan, with completely different personalities and voice styles. However, I did run into a few game breaking bugs here and there, although as I played it during the release of the DLC, a lot of those were fixed shortly, just not fast enough to not lock me out of some content. As soon as I finished the base game, I immediately purchased the DLC, and I don't regret it one bit. Last Variable is a substantial addition, and a worthwhile story on its own, following the post-game journey of one of the most important Alters of the main game, for what ended up being one of the nerdiest and most thought-provoking stories I've played in a long time, about the nature of science, why it's worth pursuing, and the struggle between perseverance and accepting one's limitations. Surprisingly, I ended up enjoying the gameplay progression of the DLC a good amount more than the main game, if only because it felt more balanced, and leaned closer into puzzle game territory at times, which is closer to my interests, even if the core loop remained the same. In conclusion, The Alters is a surprisingly wholesome experience, that borrows from many genres and tells a deeply engaging sci-fi coded story, that deep within is actually very human. The Alters, as a whole, is a storytelling wonder, and a delight for fans of interactive narrative experiences like me. In the surface, it's a story about a man persevering against all odds to survive in unhospitable environments, but truly, it's a game about learning and growing from your mistakes, and above all, about accepting yourself, not in spite of what you didn't get to accomplish, but because of all the things that you did get to do.
