Reviews
A competent horror experience with puzzles that are engaging without being overly difficult. The story is intriguing, though there isn’t a lot to analyze, so it’s best experienced blind. The game touches on serious themes and provides a warning beforehand in case it’s not something you want to expose yourself to. Since it’s both free and short, it’s definitely worth checking out.

The game was alright, but the end disturbed me. For something like this to have the ending message be "don't help suicidal friends or they'll drag you down with them" is pretty grim. WTF/10

The game is alright I guess, if you like to see a sad anime girl play hide and seek. Pros + Free + Easy to Run on a 4070 and 13700k with 32gb of ddr5 ram Cons - Colliders make me get stuck on walls and have autism attacks. - Weird anime game model. - Puzzles were really easy, beat the game three times in less than an hour. - Main building was alright but the outside foliage was just a png :( - Plot was kind of not realistic, random unknown caller says btw going to kms try to stop me lol at the school btw. Also I made puzzles for you to solve. >:) - Sound track felt very bland, was like just generic scary game music you can find on roblox horror games. - Jump Scares? Were horrible and lacked creativity, They really just ruin immersion in my opinion.
Recomendo. Nota: 8/10
Warning: Asset Flip! THANATOS is one of literally thousands of creatively bankrupt asset flips infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere.
This is another first person adventure game taking place in a Unity asset pack. This time a school one. There's a few weak mini-puzzles and things, but at the end of the day this is just another bunch of Unity assets on a Unity first person horror game template. Does this add anything new to the body of over 120,000 games on Steam? Nope. THANATOS is partially or completely made up of stock assets, "borrowed" from asset stores and free asset websites. Little, if anything in this game is the creation of the "developer". While there's no up front price for this asset flip, the other problem with asset flips is that when developers aren't capable of doing their job and creating high quality assets, it's also true they can't do any of the rest of the job of a game developer either. That's definitely true for "THANATOS", and this kind of asset flipping never results in games that have quality or value for PC gamers. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. Gamers can tell... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 7 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
Bear's Take: THANATOS - a psychological horror mystery that delves into dark themes of suicide prevention. But does this spine-tingling adventure leave players on the edge of their seats, or is it just another ghost story in the dark? Sip 'n' Savor: From the eerie atmosphere to the bone-chilling puzzles, THANATOS delivers on the promise of psychological horror. The journey to prevent a friend from taking their own life is as gripping as a bear hug from behind. However, the presence of an anime girl amidst the darkness feels about as out of place as a pineapple on a pizza. Milk Mustache Moment: As you unravel the mysteries within THANATOS, prepare for a rollercoaster of emotions. The ending hits you like a bolt from the blue, leaving you questioning everything you thought you knew. It's a what-the-heck moment that lingers long after the credits roll. Roar Factor: Despite its quirks, THANATOS manages to carve out its own niche in the horror genre. Its blend of psychological depth and spooky atmosphere sets it apart from the jump-scare-filled crowd. While it may not be perfect, it's a haunting experience that's sure to leave an impression. Final Paw-sition: Should you give THANATOS a try? Absolutely. While the presence of an unexpected anime girl may raise a few eyebrows, the overall experience is well worth the journey. Just be prepared for a spine-chilling adventure that will stick with you long after the lights go out. Rating: 🐻👻🌟🌟🌟🌟 (6 out of 10)
Developers clearly understand how you can tell the story through game mechanics. There is only one major gameplay feature - UV torch for puzzle solving, but it's utilized in many surprising ways. Darklight's function in this game is far from purely utilitarian. Godspeed, developers, wish you the best Also, there are no graphics settings, which would be a problem for weaker PC. Minor thing, but resolution change option would have been much appreciated
