Tess Elated

"Tess Elated" is nothing new. In fact, it's a direct copy of "Cavesweeper". Also it's NOT a logic puzzle as they claim, because it requires guesswork. A logic puzzle never requires any guessing, only logic. The game has no instructions or a way to skip the long repetitious dialogues between levels. The Medium and Hard modes use three and four colors, so you will spend most of your time guessing, unlike Minesweeper which inspired it. Also, the Achievements are broken.

多色のマインスイーパー。スキルなどを使って若干楽もできる。 最初は難易度イージー（２色）から始まり、全クリするとノーマル（3色）解禁。ハードまである。 ハードは運ゲーなので実績コンプリートしたい人は覚悟が必要。リスタートが余りテンポ良くないのでパーフェクトクリアの実績が地獄になると思う。 ゲームの流れは何かしらの専門家の女性と何故か3種類のセリフを選択して会話を5回くらい行ってから、なぜかマインスイーパーを開始するって流れ。なぜ戦うのか、というかこのマインスイーパーは戦いなのか、というか主人公の女の子と相手の女性はどういう関係なのかは全く説明なしで問答無用で進んで行く。 ちなみに会話の選択によってその後に何かが変わる事はないっぽい。ただキャラの情報や性格、若干世界の様相がわかるって感じだと思う。 日本語は有りだけど「あなたはやめるをする！」みたいな日本語。まぁでも内容は何となくわかると思う。 とにかくどういう世界観でなぜ戦うのかの説明がない。ただそれでもキャラが可愛いから何となくイージー、ノーマルと 勧めていくと段々と会話の内容が不穏な事になっていき、ハードではかなりヤバい感じになってくる。故にこの女性達はこの先どうなるのか？とゲームを進める装置としてこの会話はまぁまぁ機能しているように感じました。 ただ全クリしてもその後どうなったかがほぼ投げっぱに近いのが残念。 せっかく全クリすると難易度ごとに戦った女の子達と遊んで騒いでる絵が用意されてたりとかするのに、ストーリー(？)を補填してくれる絵がなかった。これがホント残念だった。 まぁまとめると、ハッキリ言ってマインスイーパーでありゲームとしては特別なモノは一切ない。のだけれど、何か絵がかわいかったし無下にしたくない雰囲気があったので何となくここにレビューをしました。 あと何か知らないがsteamの画面キャプションが機能しないのも残念。

This game is adorable. I love the design of the characters, the dialog is pretty interesting, and the music is great! The game play appears to be very deep and complex, however I am a little dumbfounded as to what I'm supposed to be doing. I didn't see a tutorial on the page or within the game itself (maybe I missed it?) so I have no idea how to play this game, but I think if I could figure it out, I'd have an amazing time with these cute characters!

It's cute, but it's not even worth the 3 dollars I paid for it on sale, much less the 6 dollars it usually costs. Don't pay money for this.

Inspired by Minesweeper but unlike anything you've tried, Tess Elated is fresh and inspiring. The vibrant and diverse cast of characters makes the story both interesting and rewarding with plenty of laughs. With a colorful and fun art style and a joyful soundtrack, the game is sure to keep your interest.

If you're hankering for begone days of minesweeper, but also aware of the lack of immersion and for that case, characters in minesweeper, then Tess Elated is the solution. This game deserves a cuteness medal! I dig the brazen colour choices and the animation choices, especially with the intro animation, that was a punchy touch. I enjoyed the creativity breaking through a lot of the more video-gamey tropes relied on in the game. This personality really shone through in the dialogue, which was the strongest, most idiosyncratic and defining part of the game for me. The absurdity of the interaction formats was funny, especially when you could be making 'friendly' choices and then it suddenly switched to hostile. Then again, I just wish that, aside from the varied characters, there was MORE variation, such as different narrative pathways, even just consequences or less dialogue re-hashing. There are endless possibilities this could take! The actual game-play itself improved a lot with the introduction of the harder level, but it would be cooler if that was a gradual ramping up rather than what began to feel like a repetitive task. If you find repetition (and also logic games) satisfying then this game is for you. Anyway, well done, I'm interested to see what else comes out of this developer.

Tess Elated is a whole lot of fun, putting just a bit of unique spin on classic puzzle game fun - it plays like a mix of minesweeper and picross, with some extra elements to get your brain working. The difficulty curve is nice, and the skill system keeps things fresh (and fair) on higher difficulty levels. The homestretch of the easy difficulty level does start to feel maybe a bit *too* easy, but the jump to normal hooks you right back in. The quirky story, charming visuals, and catchy music tie everything together into a package that's well worth the cost of admission. Great to see leaderboard support, too!

Saw this game on Twitter posted by the artist @sproutsnout and they were giving away a few codes! I had loaded it up and from the first level it was super fun. makes ya think and a good time burner for sure! The art is super cute, the soundtrack is soothing yet fun at the same time! Def would recommend to everyone to give it a shot! kinda feels like minesweepers new and improved sister with bright colors and graphics!
