I'm a guy who likes the occasional fun, janky kusoge. Take the original Terrordrome. You get to play as icons of horror in a fun Killer Instinct style of Fighter, with impeccable spritework and lines ripped straight from their movies. Terrordrome 2 plays the same, but with none of the charm or interesting characters. Instead we have bargain basement bootlegs of assorted public domain creature feature icons and whatever creepypasta characters were popular circa 2013. The voice acting varies in quality from cheesy cartoon dub to trying way too hard to be spooky. In addition, development has either screeched to a complete halt or run out of money as the most recent update added AI slop as arcade endings. Just play Omen of Sorrow for a better fighter with a similar theme, with the added bonus of no AI """art"""
Terrordrome (Rise of the Boogeymen), FrightShow Fighter.
I loved Rise of the Boogeymen but this is worse. The game feels clunky and janky not worth paying for. AI should never be used in games even if it is a "temporary change", they are capable of doing it and I had hope for this game forever but it never seemed to have improved to the game I was hoping for it to be.
Tried arcade mode to be hit in the face ai slop no thank you
forced inclusion and installation of epic software game now runs an instance of EOS overlay shipping 64 as well as the game. when you install the game you have to admin confirm something and then you get an install dialog and a ton of lag. then you see another install dialog and a lot of lag again. uninstalling the game has 4 or 5 command prompts appear and one that sticks around with a ton of crud in it, this sucks. in a match, I hit escape and the game froze when I alt tabbed and came back only to unfreeze the moment i clicked which was hovering over the back to character select choice so off i went to character select. the menus are not at all encouraging and feel like this game is live service built on twigs. the options menu isn't very clear with the confirm key seemingly doing nothing but effectively pressing enter over a hidden selection which can never be changed. if the game were under 10gb I might consider leaving it installed but I'll just check in later with it. the EOS situation is super disappointing. how about EOS people install steam online services instead of us suffering this poison bloat on top of early access. steam didn't save my review update where i came back to state this game wasnt in early access at the time of the review and a bunch of other stuff and all that is discouraging with the state of the singleplayer offering and the menus :(
It's like they got an AI to come up with the control scheme and all of the combat mechanics. Special and Unleashed move inputs simply do not work. Launching Arcade Mode crashes the game after the opening cutscene. They've doubled down, and are unlikely to fix anything. Just watch videos online, it's a lot more pleasurable than playing it yourself.
This game is so unpolished
Uses Generative AI
fun game, but they should remove AI, I'd even prefer a black screen with he words just showing up as opposed to the AI imagery
AI slop. Didn't realize it until I noticed the backrounds.
