Reviews
6 years of development and the latest patch broke the game. How do you screw up this badly? Edit:Game is still a mess and they seem to be actively making the UI worse while not fixing anything. They're evolving, backwards.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.56/day in the week to Aug 4 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

this is best way to learn game and then beat your friends in real life :D
it feels "ok" to play. Not the smoothest expierience from a technical perspective, maybe due to low budget. However, there are no Players online, which is rly sad. 20€ + DLCs is waaaaaay to expensive for a dead game. Its a shame cause the boardgame is so good....
Some things are fixed some are not, like running time bug that you need to restart the game for, and as always, it some times does not let you back in...
I can't speak much for the online play, but I've had a lot of fun playing solo and against various numbers and difficulties of COMS. It's a really good adaptation of the board game as it functions and it's been a fun way to explore the game expansions. This has been a great way to enjoy a game that I love but don't often have opportunity to play with people in-person.
Love the game but, first there are way to many Bugs and Glitches online, almost unplayable after so long time out on the marked. Now, for me and many other people in the internet its not possible to play online at all, becauxe of Bugy and Glitches. Better buy the Boardgame... Will try to get my money back cause its fraud :(
Love playing this game with family and friends irl and love playing this version on my computer! I was compelled to write this review after seeing so many negative ones. I personally have not encountered any game-breaking bugs. Any bugs I have noticed have been fixed. I only play against the ai, so maybe the bugs stem from multiplayer?
Terraforming Mars on Steam provides players with an intricate and immersive experience that combines strategic gameplay with a rich thematic backdrop rooted in scientific and ecological transformation. Drawing inspiration from the popular board game, the digital adaptation captures the essence of managing resources, developing infrastructure, and making impactful decisions that influence the fate of an entire planet. From the moment you dive into the game, you're greeted with a detailed interface that emphasizes planning, foresight, and adaptability. The game’s visual presentation is sleek and functional, with crisp icons and well-designed cards that evoke the feel of a complex yet accessible board game, making it approachable for newcomers while offering depth for veteran strategists. The core gameplay revolves around players acting as corporations competing to terraform Mars by increasing its temperature, oxygen levels, and ocean coverage. Each player has a unique set of project cards and resources, which they use to develop their own strategies for contributing to the planet’s transformation. The game’s mechanics are layered and multifaceted, involving careful management of credits, steel, titanium, plants, energy, and heat—each serving different purposes and requiring different tactical approaches. This resource management aspect is compelling because it demands players to prioritize actions, anticipate opponents' moves, and adapt their strategies dynamically as the game progresses. The game also introduces a variety of project types, from atmospheric modifications to building cities and generating energy, which ensures that no two games feel alike. One of the standout features of Terraforming Mars is its depth of strategic options and the variety of paths to victory. Players can choose to focus on rapid terraforming, technological innovation, or economic dominance, among other approaches. The interaction between players is also well-designed—whether through direct competition for certain project cards, the use of event cards that can alter the game state, or the strategic placement of cities and greenery. The game creates a compelling tension between cooperation and competition, especially as players’ actions can inadvertently hinder or help each other’s progress. The AI opponents are reasonably challenging, providing a good test of skill, and the online multiplayer mode allows for engaging matches with friends or players worldwide, further extending the game’s replayability. The game’s thematic integration is particularly strong, with each project and card reflecting real scientific concepts and plausible terraforming techniques. The narrative element is subtle but effective; players feel like part of a grand, collective effort to transform a hostile planet into a habitable world. The soundtrack is minimal but fitting, offering a calm and focused ambiance that complements the strategic gameplay without distracting from it. The game also includes various scenarios and difficulty settings, which cater to both casual players and those seeking a more challenging experience. The interface is user-friendly, with helpful tooltips and guides that assist new players in understanding complex mechanics, although mastering the game’s depth still requires dedication and thoughtful planning. Despite its many strengths, Terraforming Mars can be intensive and sometimes overwhelming, especially during the mid- to late-game phases when multiple factors need balancing simultaneously. The complexity may pose a steep learning curve for newcomers or those unfamiliar with the original board game, but this depth is also what makes the game rewarding for dedicated players. Occasionally, the AI may make seemingly illogical moves, and the game’s pacing can slow down when players deliberate over their options or wait for key project cards to become available. Nevertheless, these are minor issues in an otherwise well-crafted experience. Overall, Terraforming Mars on Steam delivers a compelling, strategic journey that captures the essence of planetary science, economic management, and competitive gameplay, making it a must-play for fans of complex simulation and resource management games. It was a very good game BEFORE! The four of us were playing with friends, got hung up and couldn't come back in. Reason: I didn't buy all the extras that the hoster had! Have you decided to earn all the money in the world? Return the connection without checking all the add-ons for the game!
