Bad For starters, it is nothing like it’s typically advertised. The mechanics are not the greatest and probably only 25% of the gameplay is based on skill (I’ll get to why). It’s usually advertised with the normal sets but each match is only 7 points, and the mechanics are nothing like they appear on ads, so instead of gameplay which is advertised as looking like real pro tennis, you’re left with play that isn’t enjoyable at all. Now for the reason. The character ability is based on cards that are collected. But the reality is the only way to get the ones you need to compete competitively is to pay for them. Therefore the players who pay the most are the players who win. The people who have collected the highest abilities will always win the match, which makes the game not dependent on actual skill, tactics, or competition at all. In theory could you wait it out, collect more coins and painfully upgrade your character to stand a chance. Yes, but it wouldn’t change the lack of competition/skill required for the game, and even then you’re not guaranteed the cards you need. Very rare to have a rally lasting longer than 5 shots with most at about 3. If you make a shot off the court, the entire court isn’t even in view so you can’t even make your character recover to the middle of the court. Lastly, with the graphics and set up, the game has great potential to improve this (which is the only reason I have a 2nd star). If these things were changed it could be really a competitive game and I would recommend a career mode to play in tournaments, not just tours against other players. BUT, and this is a really BIG BUT, it gets two stars because unfortunately it will not happen, making the game a tremendous waste of time. Games like these are set up this way because the goal is to make money. People spend, and so the game stays focused more on upgrades and card packs rather than about skill and tactics. It won’t change because these kinds of games are more about money, sadly. Therefore a game that could easily be 5 Stars will most likely never even deserve a 3rd star.
A decent game ruined I’ve been playing this game for almost 3 years with mixed feelings. There were lots of bugs initially but over time most were addressed. However, about a month ago Sports Star decided to “balance” the game play by dialing back the skill sets of my 3 best players making them hobbled. Now it’s difficult to win or score decent league points causing me to be demoted to a lower level league. Now, after the latest update the game has multiple buds, including crashing in the middle of club tournament play! So disappointing.
Tennis Wasn’t expecting this game to be that fun but I haven’t stopped playing it since I installed it! Very fun!
Pay-to-Play The game is and can be fun. However, Why are you matching players that have insane power dynamics with those who are not at those levels. The probability to win is not a fair opportunity. Also, there are some glitches that happen when returning a shot, whether from the opponent’s serve, or otherwise a return shot. A more realistic gameplay would help in certain circumstances. You can outclass your opponent in power attributes and get beat and know the game is beating you purposely. Not from the opponent’s ability itself. Another issue is when your forehand or backhand is rated higher than your opponent’s stamina and agility, yet time can’t get a shot past them. Seems a bit fishy that’s happening. Guaranteed if your opponent has a higher backhand and forehand that you’re not going to survive long with the power they’re hitting the ball with. Your return shot will go out of bounds at the least. Or you can’t even return with a shot. Something like an 99 serve is unbeatable. 99 forehand, etc.
Another Pay $ to Get Ahead Game Constant bombardment with ads for new attributes and/pr equipment to beat other players. Seems like no matter how long you play for free, your selected character almost never is provided bonus points to develop further.
Matching Players It would be really helpful if you would match people of the same strength. It really sucks when you get matched against somebody that’s 25 points better than you on the forehand and agility and just throttles you seven nothing.
Bandwidth and Inequity The match finder continues to suck. Who wants to play when consistently paired against someone miles ahead? Where’s the value in losing? And the consistent nagging to pay to play is weak. Build a better competition engine and maybe then a few more folks would toss a coin into this thankless wishing well.
Hmmmm I won’t let me get kaka lid and Leo
Best Tennis Experience This game brings physics to a new level by allowing you to engage into a p2p player game of Tennis. It’s Immersive and is parallel to real life tennis. This is definitely the Beat Tennis Experience thus far in an online game. Good luck to all!
Impossible progression Ranking up requires at least four hours of gameplay every day or something becaue this is impossible to do just casual. Unless you pour your soul or your money you can’t buy upgrades you can’t rank up to make money to buy upgrades and I’m not even sure how you actually get player cards because after the tutorial gave me some I literally have not gotten more. This game is impossible to do anything other than waste time and lose to players who grind or spend money
