I absolutely love this game. The mechanics work together PERFECTLY. The progression is on point, and the art is superb. One of the best games I can remember played recently!
Stupid king taking all my money
FOR MORE CARD GAMES FOLLOW US CARD GAME KING
Small deckbuilder and tile placing game where tiles interact with each other and unlock new secret tiles. The goal is to survive for 5 rounds which isn't terribly difficult to do and there are a few strategies available. Each tile placed generates income and placing the right ones together can reveal hidden synergies which are helpfully highlighted. While the game does not have a lot of variations due to the lack of cards, unlocking cards while still building towards the win condition is a fun way to add some spice between runs. Unfortunately, the game is not super short with play time of ~20 mins and, worse still, doesn't have a save feature which means exiting will force a start over. I would have preferred unlocks staying between runs which would provide a nice steady goal to work towards to, instead of having to unlock them in each run. All in all, while limited in content it's fun to unlock new tiles, at least for a few hours.
The positive
+ Decent gameplay for a few hours + Simple to play + Secrets, yay!
The neutral
* Unlocks reset after each run, having no between run goals
The negative
- Nothing of note.
Conclusion:
Pocket-sized deckbuilder with tile making mechanic where tile synergy can unlock more tiles. Relatively quick but not much variety outside after a few hours, aside from unlocking secret tiles. Recommended.

I left this game alone after checking it out for the first time a very long time ago. I can't really remember why but I guess it was because of the very first runs being short and I didn't get it. But, going through my games for working on achievements, I found this one back and I'm so glad I gave it another try. Now I get it :) You have a fixed board and always start with the same starter cards. By placing them in certain ways, or do something with them (achievements are your guide), you get to unlock new cards which make future runs easier. All cards have their specifics. Most give gold, some give extra cards, let you destroy something... All yours to find out. The goal is (apart from getting all the achievements, haha) to get through five years. At the end of every year, you need to have enough gold to pay the king or you lose your land and lose the game. And it's like in real life, taxes get more expensive every year :) After I won the game for the first time, I chose 'endless mode' but that resets your card progress so now I have to start over to expand my card set again to hopefully find out how to get the remaining achievements. But I'm not mad as this game is reallly fun and quite addictive.
Nice little game worthy of a few hours, looking forward to more content & other enrichment.
Short game but somewhat addictive. Hard to determine all the combinations with the randomness and short plays especially if you get something that replaces your tiles. Would really benefit from a sandbox mode for experimenting. Overall recommend especially on sale.
A delight for puzzle lovers, simple concept, challenging and really makes you think. Clever mechanics, and the minimalist design is perfect for staying focused. It’s the kind of game that hooks you in with "just one more go." If you're into brain-teasers, don’t miss out giving this one a go.
Very addictive game with good graphics and challenging levels . Great to play a game that is original and out of the norm for a change. Got to go, I've got taxes to pay and only a year to do it.
Simple, but can get complicated--reminds me of the old mobile game Alchemy, but roguelike.
