TaleSpire - Guest Edition lets you join, build, and play any TaleSpire campaign where the party has seats available. Has an ally of yours bought you a seat at the table? This is how you join them.

About

Guest Edition lets you join, build, and play any TaleSpire campaign where the party has an extra "seat" at the table.
Typically, to play TaleSpire, you need to own the full game. Seats are an alternative to that. Any TaleSpire owner can choose to purchase seats for guests (like yourself) to use. The seats are what allow folks using Guest Edition to join the campaign without needing the full version of TaleSpire.
Here's how it works:
You download "Talespire - Guest Edition."
The GM invites you to a campaign.
So long as one party member has a "Seat" available, you will immediately be brought into the adventure!
Once invited into a campaign that contains an empty Seat, Guest Edition lets you do almost everything a full copy can; you can build, you can GM, and you can explore the wealth of community content. The only big limitation is not being able to start a new campaign yourself.
TaleSpire is a beautiful way to play pen and paper RPGs online. Bring your stories to life and embark upon campaigns together with your friends, regardless of where you are in the world.
With Talespire, the beauty and physicality of tabletop gaming meet the endless possibilities of a digital world. Here you can collaboratively build your worlds without compromising the handcrafted aesthetic of using traditional miniatures.
As a player, you can take on the mantle of multiple heroes and creatures, manage your stats, and express yourself using the growing emote system. Perform dice rolls directly on the board and interact with your environment — at least, as far as your GM will let you!
As a GM, you can dazzle and thrill your friends by building expansive maps, setting up shots, and controlling immersive soundscapes to bring all your delightful and devious designs to life.
TaleSpire is not tied to a specific game or ruleset. Whether you’re running a one-shot or a sprawling campaign, if it's on a square grid then we have your back. We are now in Early Access, so now is your chance to raise up your sword, rally your friends, and take your next adventure online with us.

Setting the stage for your story takes no time at all with Talespire, but even if you forget to prep, it can all be added in while you play. Want to destroy a wall to reveal a secret passage? Do it! Want to rain down piles of gold from the heavens? You have the power. At any moment during your adventure, you (or multiple GMs) can jump into building mode and change the world without interrupting anything else. Our persistent online boards can be created at a moment’s notice, and everything is synchronized in real-time as you dice-roll your way to glory.

It’s dangerous to go alone, but luckily we have a bunch of tools that can help, and all are as pleasing as they are useful. Beautiful dice, rulers and area markers, a range of emotes, and special modes for turn-based combat and cinematic sequences are at your disposal.
Pick from a plethora of pieces to create your scenes! The current roster stands at 280 miniatures, 2100 tiles and props, and 60 unique audio tracks. Our library is ever-expanding; we produce fresh asset packs every month.
TaleSpire boards are designed to be easily shared, whether with friends or with the wider community on sites like TalesBazaar or TalesTavern. You can copy sections of your boards (slabs) and paste them as text outside of TaleSpire. Simply paste the text back into TaleSpire to summon the slab to your hand.
Being in Early Access we still have plenty of adventures ahead of us. We have an active Discord community, which you can find in the social section, and alongside your feedback we’re looking forward to developing the game’s features. So come, journey with us a while.

Pissed! I was SO excited when I saw and read this as I am starting a new online campaign with some friends who can't afford the full version. I was so very excited to give this a try only to find out upon opening my game that a seat costs $18!! Cheaper than the whole game, yes, but my frustration comes from this not being stated anywhere in the product description. This is VERY disappointing. I could MAYBE understand a seat costing $5 or so, but 18?? Thats almost the price of the full version as it is! And to offer a "seat pack" for almost $60 right below it is just insulting. How could you think this price was a good idea at ALL? An extremely promising add-on to this game that would be beneficial to a LOT of people ruined by greed.
Price is kind of steep for seats which allows you to add players to your campaign kind of defeats the point on having a "Free" player version. They might as well make the player version $5.

No matter how you slice it, you're screwing the DM. After purchasing the game in order to actually have people be able to play with you, you then have to purchase individual seats for $20 each, unless players purchased the full game themselves. Absolutely disappointed. Thought it at least came with a couple seats, having to pay an extra 20 for each player that's going to play a tabletop game is the scummiest crap since WotC deciding they're using AI for a large amount of their stuff.
well I was gonna host a session with my bro but seats cost money. I get it but $12, hell nah. now 5 bucks is reasonable. I hope they drop the price. Small amounts add up, stay safe
Respect the other reviews but this version of seats is absolutely perfect for me. I tend to run West March style D&D with a lot of transient players or there are players who aren't committed enough to staying long-term. Maintaining control of multiple copies of the game is a fantastic solution if you want to do lots of TTRPGs but others you play with are not as engaged. While it makes sense to be annoyed about the price, the combination of not having to buy a full copy of this great software for someone who might not show up next week, coupled with the fact Talespire itself has very little paid content to fund their continued updates three years since release, makes this a perfect way for me to support BouncyRock and introduce tabletop to more people. Consider this a way to bring in new players or gamers who are unsure about the time commitment or using Talespire when there are definitely cheaper, less-awesome ways to tabletop. If they eventually decide this is what they wanna do they can buy a full copy with seats of their own and continue the cycle, eventually ending in TS + TT world takeover ^^ Getting 4 shareable copies of the game for 50 USD (effectively half price of buying TS individually) is totally fair and sustains their vision of non-scummy monetization in the microtransaction hell that is modern gaming. Thanks for making this available :)
I have been using TaleSpire for years now, but having to stream my board to players since none of them want to buy the software themselves, and understandably so. There are so many cool features I would love to use but haven't gotten to because of this fact. I was very excited to see the guest edition was coming to fruition like many other VTTs with similar business models, but I was expecting the guest seats to either be free, cheap, or at least a couple free with the ability to buy more at a premium. This... is disappointing to say the least. Despite how much I love TaleSpire, if another 3D VTT comes out with lower quality, but the ability to have my players interact with it for free, I'll be switching. That's just the sad reality.
THIS IS NOT FREE. You have to PURCHASE SEATS in order have other players join. This is ridiculous. I really want to support Talespire, but this is egregious. Plus, the seats you HAVE to purchase aren't even cheap! If you want 6 seats, it'll cost $80!! That's insane!
From the beginning of TaleSpire the devs have said that they didn't want to break the game into simply players and a gm. I always expected the players to have to pick up their own version of the game in order to get access it all of it's features. So the fact that there is now a cheaper way of introducing people to the game, and letting them build maps and even run their own games is awesome. It's much cheaper than getting the full game, while maintaining all the features. Only having to buy seats once works great with a revolving door of players. I'd understand people being upset if the devs ever said they intended on making it free for players and then went back on it. That is just not the case.
