GOTY!!! Que buena historia y soundtrack, me hubiera gustado que dejaran entrar a Alfred a todos los libros del catálogo.
Tales [PC] is a nostalgic point-and-click adventure that feels like a heartfelt tribute to the golden age of classic adventure gaming. Inspired heavily by the style of older LucasArts and Sierra titles, the game combines mythology, literature, humor, and puzzle-solving into an imaginative journey centered around magical books and legendary worlds. The story begins with Alfred Walsh, an ordinary librarian whose quiet first day at work turns disastrous after an ancient force known as Oblivion escapes into the library. Suddenly thrown into a crisis involving the destruction of stories themselves, Alfred must travel through famous myths and fairy tales in order to restore balance before countless legends are erased forever. The premise is one of the game’s strongest qualities because it allows the adventure to constantly reinvent itself. Rather than limiting players to a single fantasy setting, Tales uses the library as a gateway into different literary and mythological worlds. Each new chapter introduces unique environments, characters, and puzzles inspired by famous stories from history and folklore. Players may find themselves interacting with figures from Arthurian legends, Norse mythology, or other classic tales, giving the game a strong sense of variety and creativity throughout the experience. The shifting settings prevent the adventure from becoming repetitive and make exploration consistently rewarding. The writing carries much of the game’s charm. Tales approaches mythology and literature with a playful tone, often mixing humor with fantasy adventure in a way that keeps the story entertaining even during slower moments. Alfred works well as the protagonist because he is not portrayed as a traditional hero, but rather as an ordinary man struggling to survive increasingly bizarre situations. His awkwardness and reactions to the strange worlds around him create many of the game’s funniest moments. Supporting characters such as Merlin and various mythological figures also help maintain the lighthearted atmosphere through witty dialogue and amusing interactions. Gameplay follows the traditional structure of classic point-and-click adventures. Players explore environments, collect inventory items, solve puzzles, and interact with characters in order to progress through the story. The game does not attempt to modernize the genre significantly, and that is both one of its strengths and one of its biggest weaknesses. Fans of older adventure games will likely appreciate how faithfully Tales recreates the challenge and complexity of classic puzzle design. The game expects players to pay close attention to dialogue, observe environmental details carefully, and sometimes think in unconventional ways to solve problems. Many of the puzzles are genuinely clever and closely tied to the myths or stories being explored. Instead of relying entirely on random inventory combinations, solutions often connect directly to the themes and logic of the literary worlds Alfred visits. This makes the puzzle-solving feel more immersive and rewarding because progression depends on understanding the setting rather than simply clicking on everything repeatedly. The game also encourages exploration by allowing players to revisit earlier story worlds and continue solving unresolved mysteries later in the adventure. At the same time, the puzzle difficulty can become frustrating for players unfamiliar with old-school adventure design. Certain solutions are extremely obscure and may require trial and error or extensive backtracking. The game openly embraces the demanding philosophy of older point-and-click titles where experimentation and patience are essential. While this design choice will appeal strongly to genre veterans, newer players may occasionally feel overwhelmed by the lack of guidance. There are moments where progression can stall completely if a small detail or specific interaction is overlooked. Visually, Tales succeeds at capturing a charming retro atmosphere through detailed pixel art and colorful hand-crafted environments. Each literary world has its own visual identity, helping the different settings feel distinct and memorable. Medieval castles, magical forests, ancient ruins, and surreal fantasy landscapes are all presented with clear affection for classic 2D adventure aesthetics. The character animations may be simple compared to modern games, but the expressive art style gives the cast personality and supports the game’s comedic tone effectively. The soundtrack also contributes heavily to the atmosphere. Fantasy-inspired orchestral music accompanies Alfred’s journey through the various myths and stories, helping each location feel unique and immersive. The audio design consistently reinforces the sense of wonder surrounding the magical library and the legendary worlds hidden within its books. Voice acting is another pleasant surprise, with performances that fit the game’s humorous and adventurous tone very well. Hearing the characters fully voiced adds additional charm and makes lengthy conversations more engaging. One of the game’s greatest strengths is the passion behind its design. Tales clearly loves both classic literature and classic adventure games, and that enthusiasm is visible in almost every aspect of the experience. The game is filled with references to famous stories, mythology, and genre traditions, creating an adventure that feels crafted specifically for players who appreciate fantasy storytelling and old-school puzzle design. Even when the gameplay becomes frustrating, the creativity of the world and characters helps maintain interest. However, the game’s dedication to traditional adventure mechanics also means that some aspects feel outdated. Interface navigation can occasionally become cumbersome, inventory management is not always smooth, and the pacing slows noticeably during sections that require excessive backtracking between locations. Players accustomed to more streamlined modern adventures may find certain design choices unnecessarily time-consuming. Despite these flaws, Tales [PC] remains an enjoyable and imaginative point-and-click adventure that succeeds through creativity, atmosphere, and strong puzzle design. Its mixture of mythology, literary fantasy, humor, and challenging gameplay creates an experience that feels both nostalgic and unique. While the difficulty may not appeal to everyone, players willing to embrace its old-school philosophy will discover a rewarding adventure filled with memorable characters and clever storytelling. For fans of classic point-and-click games, Tales delivers exactly the type of experience the genre became famous for: complicated puzzles, charming dialogue, imaginative worlds, and a strong sense of discovery. It may not reinvent adventure gaming, but it captures the spirit of the genre remarkably well while celebrating the timeless power of stories and legends. Rating: 7/10
👍👍👍
What a great consept! I loved the idea and the story of this game and if you love books, you'll love it too. The puzzles are great the voice acting impresive. My only problem was that the music was a bit higher that I'd like it to be.

No es mi primera aventura gráfica que he probado. 🎮 Pero esta se me hizo inusualmente confusa. 🤔
A brilliant concept. Excellent low-res art. Decent voice acting. Unobtrusive music. Overall, Tales punches above its weight as a budget title. Unfortunately, I ultimately grew tired of its backtracking inventory puzzles. If that sounds like something you can stomach, then Tales is worth a shot. If it's not your cup of tea, then I'd say skip this one.
