Ceak's Tales of Terror Review
TLDR : Tales of Terror is a Co-Op Horror Game featuring an excellent setting, interesting mechanics and a sprinkle of humor.
Pros:

Great mood setting
Simple controls
Interesting "boss fight" mechanics
Chapter 1 is well designed
Humor

Cons:

Lag for the person hosting (sometimes)
Fatal errors (crashes)
Graphical bugs

Suggestions:

Fix the lag and fatal errors
Add some flavor text to items
Add more player voices perhaps when reading texts
A tutorial screen with controls would be helpful
I have been playing this game for a while, and it's gotten a lot better recently. The atmosphere is super creepy and the graphics and sounds really pull you in. It's especially fun to play with friends lots of scary moment and laughs. The recent updates have really made a difference making the game more polished and enjoyable. If you like horror games give his one a try.
=)
Gave it 3 hours of time so far.
I honestly didn't expect much from the trailers / screen shots on the store page. HOWEVER... From the buggy facial expressions to the items falling through floors, we had a F$&@-ing b l a s t playing Tales of Terror. The stages were somewhat challenging and easy enough to understand the objective. We experienced a few bugs such as facial expressions and item duplication pretty early on. We also had 1 item fall through the grates on stage 2. Even with all the laughter I was awaiting the next monster encounter, hooked on the thrill. The facial expressions that were made while powering up a generator took us out! If I could make a suggestion - The items seemed a bit repetitive. In the first 2 stages, I had everything I needed to finish the stage and some. Even with the item duplication it seemed a bit redundant to have access to so many items. Maybe some fine tuning is needed. I'd really like to see the future of Tales of Terror. $4.99 isn't bad for a few hours of fun and a hell of a lot of laughter. 10/10 will play again.
A wonderful balance of chilling and challenging. The audio and graphics help make this a very immersive game with a captivating premise. It's clearly undergoing refinement, but definitely a worthwhile play for anyone interested in unique horror games
Had a lot of fun playing this with my friend. Actually scared me a few times and had a good time figuring out the puzzles :)
ambiance is very loud, hit boxes are extremely accurate which annoys me, i like the story, good game (criticism for dev as he asked of me)

Tales of Terror is an indie survival horror title developed and published by BearfoxBear, currently released in Early Access. It attempts to blend cooperative gameplay with atmospheric horror, placing players inside a dark and abandoned research facility plagued by monstrous entities. Designed primarily with multiplayer in mind, the game supports solo play but clearly emphasizes teamwork as the intended way to experience its tense environments and unpredictable encounters. The setting plays a central role in establishing the game’s mood. Dimly lit corridors, abandoned laboratories, and echoing hallways create an oppressive atmosphere that leans heavily on sound design and limited visibility to generate fear. Environmental details are sparse but effective, with flickering lights and distant noises contributing to a sense of vulnerability. The horror elements rely less on elaborate storytelling and more on immediate tension—unexpected enemy appearances, sudden audio cues, and the constant awareness that danger may be lurking around the next corner. Gameplay revolves around exploration, resource gathering, and survival. Players search for items that can aid in navigation or provide limited defensive capabilities against hostile creatures. The mechanics are relatively simple: collect what you can, coordinate with teammates, and avoid or confront threats as necessary. In cooperative sessions, communication becomes crucial. Sharing information about enemy locations, distributing supplies, and sticking together can mean the difference between escape and defeat. This cooperative focus enhances the experience, as moments of panic or narrow survival are amplified when shared with friends. However, Tales of Terror is clearly still in development, and its Early Access status is reflected in its execution. Technical roughness is noticeable, with occasional bugs, unclear mechanics, and control inconsistencies affecting immersion. Some systems lack clear explanations, leaving players to experiment in order to understand basic interactions. This lack of polish can detract from the horror atmosphere, particularly when confusion replaces tension. Solo play, in particular, can feel more challenging and less balanced compared to cooperative sessions. Despite these shortcomings, the game shows potential in its core concept. The foundation of cooperative survival horror is present, and when the systems function smoothly, the experience can be genuinely suspenseful. Moments where players narrowly escape a pursuing creature or successfully coordinate under pressure highlight the strengths of its design. The game’s emphasis on shared survival creates organic tension that scripted scares alone cannot replicate. The pacing varies depending on the session. Exploration segments can feel slow and deliberate, while sudden encounters introduce bursts of urgency. Because the content is still limited in scope, replay value depends largely on playing with different groups or experimenting with varied strategies. Without deeper narrative elements or evolving objectives, extended play sessions may begin to feel repetitive once the initial novelty wears off. Ultimately, Tales of Terror stands as an ambitious but unfinished cooperative horror experience. Its strengths lie in atmosphere and teamwork-driven tension, offering moments of genuine fear and excitement when played with others. However, technical issues and incomplete systems currently prevent it from reaching its full potential. For players willing to embrace Early Access imperfections and approach it as a developing project, it can provide engaging cooperative scares. Those seeking a fully polished horror adventure may prefer to wait for further updates and refinement. Rating: 5/10
