This is not exactly the best Hidden objects games around, but it is still playable. The story about a young couple who celebrated their first wedding anniversary. In that night, an old woman knocked on their door, begging for food which they provided her. Because they were nice to her, the woman presented the wife, Melissa, a ring, alas it was not any usual ring but a cursed one which put the wife into a slumber. Alfred got angry and vowed to find a way to save his wife. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2081736054 The hidden objects scenes are quite difficult, some of the items are mislabeled and you visit the same scene a couple of times. The map is large, you can see all the areas from the beginning of the game as it is the area where Alfred is living and naturally he knows it all. Each area has its objectives before you move to the next one, but you'll be able to go back to the previous ones as the game will later require you to backtrack to find more items. Sadly there is no fast traveling function and there are also no indicators for the map. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2081737059 I liked the puzzles, there are a couple of original ones in the Carnaval area. I did encounter a bug while picking up an item while I was closing a window of a zoomed area, somehow I picked up something I was not supposed to get until the end of the game. Also, the glittering effect of the hidden object areas glitched on me once, it kept glittering while I was in the scene to find the items. I had to quit the game to the main menu and thankfully it solved the issue. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2082188866 The music is nothing to be mentioned, nothing caught my attention, but the sound effects is similar to the other games from the same developer. I was sad they didn't include a journal, only an objective window which I didn't like its location, they placed it next to the inventory box, when you hover the mouse on it keeps popping up instead of the inventory. Pros: +Average story. +OK music. +Good Artwork. +Average voice-overs (But the main character is good) +Multiple hidden objects scenes (You'll revisit all the scenes a couple of times). +Some original puzzles. Cons: -No steam achievements. -No fast traveling function and map indicators. -No Journal. -The objective list is in the same area as the inventory and keeps popping up instead of the items. It's an OK game, you can play it when you run out of HOGs, there is nothing special about it but still playable for HOGs lovers.
Tales of Sorrow: Strawsbrough Town
Hidden object game from 2019. The young couple Melissa and Alfred are celebrating their first wedding anniversary when Melissa slips a mysterious ring onto her finger and falls into a magical sleep. Help Alfred find a cure and break the ring's curse! [Publisher] A good story in the form of an adventure casual game awaits you. You have to find numerous hidden object scenes and some individual objects to get closer to the end of the game. You should be able to reach this in about 3.5 hours. Actually, it's not that difficult, but the graphics are so poor that you sometimes can't see the hidden object items you're looking for, even if you know where they are. However, this seems to be intentional, as the color scheme and intensity were deliberately chosen to make them barely visible. Therefore, you're dependent on the hints, which you could otherwise manage without them. Finding your way to the next object is generally quite easy, but you'll probably still need help occasionally. You'll then get a chapter guide that explains each step. Very well done. In summary, a thumbs-up game. Since there isn't one, it's worth recommending. Suitable for anyone who wants to kill some time now and then.
Tales of Sorrow: Strawsbrough Town
Dies soltest du so in etwa 3,5 Stunden erreichen.
What a terrible game... Very amateurish. Possibly the worst HOG I've ever played. To anyone who thinks hidden object games aren't really games: try this one to understand the importance of good gameplay and good storytelling. The only redeeming quality here, is that it can be finished in a couple of hours. But even the ending is ridiculously bad and short. Just wow.
More reviews on our Curator Page Released back in 2012, Tales of Sorrow: Strawsbrough Town first hit BigFish Store, with well received feedback and reviews. Seven years later, though, the game developed by Urchin Games, a Pakistan based team, is finally available on Steam through HH-Games. Have the years made an impact, or should we appreciate such effort? Alfred and Melissa are just about to commemorate their very first wedding anniversary, and everything seems perfect. The cake is ready and the romance is tuned idyllically, until someone knocks on their door in the middle of the night. An old lady comes through, and although reluctant, the couple accepted to help her for the time being. To compensate for their hospitality, the mysterious lady offers a strange ring to Melissa, who doesn’t waste any time in trying it out. Almost instantly, a curse surrounds her, putting her into a deep state of sleep, with her life hanging on a thread. Is now up to Alfred, to look for clues regarding this curse, and do whatever it takes to save his wife Melissa. His journey will take him across the picturesque Strawsbrough Town, with a fair share of surprises waiting him, including the mysterious Mayor's mansion, a Carnival in town, and we can’t overstep, the outskirts of town, among many other places. Players take the role of Alfred in a simple but pleasant storyline across the town, meeting several NPC’s to further discover the truth behind the curse. The narrative is enjoyable, with pretty decent dialogue lines. The whole story is constructed around mystery, without any major twists or ground breaking turns, but still delivering a smooth and casual adventurous experience of events. Tales of Sorrow: Strawsbrough Town plays out as you’d expect from a Hidden Object game. Players adventure themselves through the ominous town of Strawsbrough, looking for clues and completing Hidden Object scenes to find key items. Each location has multiple scenes, but all with 12 different objects to find. Once players go through a location, when returning the previous found objects won’t show on the scenario, but in specific occurrences, the whole Hidden Object Scene will reset. This is most likely to create an extra challenge. We can still appreciate the attention to each scene, with quite the variety and good looking placement of objects. It’s distinct originality, make objects quite intuitive to find, especially when players return for a second or third time. The small town is filled with the perfect dark vibe, with a great ambient atmosphere surrounding it. Although it’s visuals are low definition, there’s still some attention to detail. Despite all engine limitations, cutscenes are displayed in beautiful 3D CGI animations, which was pretty amazing for it’s time. Even today, we can enjoy well crafted CGI, but it’s always pleasant to watch the characters come to life in these types of games. Background animations are also part of the vibe, delivering a bright wave over the course of Alfred’s journey. Players can choose the starting difficulty, either Casual or Hard. Casual has, the faster recharging Hint option, and sparkling locations to guide your adventure, while the Hard mode makes players trust their gut and follow the clues. Players travel through the town in specific areas, with some slight backtracking to do, but not in anobnoxious way that would force one to search mindless for, let’s say, a Hidden Object Scene. In this game, if you find yourself in a specific area, it’s 99% guarantee that the missing item is around that location, and not all the way back in the beginning. Even though, Tales of Sorrow: Strawsbrough Town is not as big as it first looks, but still delivers a fair share amount of Mini-Games, that suit perfectly those looking for a simple and easy time. 1024x768 is the standard native resolution, and one can use the “Widescreen Correction” option to stretch it, and have a full experience, but considering how it looks on 1080p, I advise you to play at 4.3, and deal with the black-side-bars, but still retaining the visual quality! It’s important to get out as much as possible since it can help out on Hidden Object Scenes, to spot that well hidden item, even though I personally haven’t noticed how the low resolution permanently affected the objects. Surprisingly, the game has Vsync enabled and runs at stable 60fps, and if you perhaps are not getting it, activate Vsync on your GPU panel. Unfortunately, there aren’t many options within the game, but the simple ones available are Fullscreen Mode, Widescreen Correction and Audio tune-up. Clearly not what we’re used to in today’s age, but it’s a reflex of how things change. The soundtrack is another surprise, and probably an expect one would overlook when wondering if Tales of Sorrow: Strawsbrough Town is a good purchase option. Sound portrays perfectly well with the dire atmosphere, and each hotspot has a very unique tune attached, evoking neo-classic melodies. Sound effects are on the spot, with entertaining elements, but somehow cliché. The entire game is full voice casting, and although their expressions are generic and basic, it’s still entertaining with an emotional attunement. Tales of Sorrow: Strawsbrough Town is a very pleasant and recommended adventure, particularly for beginners who want a smooth experience with easy mini-games. A quest of restoring love, in a simple but well directed narrative, delivering casual fun, despising technical limitations. The town of Strawsbrough may not have aged well, but its spirit is still enjoyable, making it a worthy purchase, even 7 years later.

Each year in May, the town holds a carnival, and for Alfred and Melissa, the month of May is extremely precious to them, as today as they are celebrating their first wedding anniversary. As Melissa is about to cut the cake, an old lady knocks at their door to seek refuge on a cold and rainy night. After receiving food, the old lady gives Melissa a ring, and soon after she places the ring on her finger, Melissa falls into a deep sleep. The only person who can save her is her husband, Alfred, in Tales of Sorrow: Strawsbrough Town. Tales of Sorrow: Strawsbrough Town is a hidden objects games developed by Urchin Games and published by HH-Games on the 27 of January 2019 on Steam. The game consists of 5 areas to visit. The first one has 7 locations, while the other four areas have four locations to explore. As you are playing Alfred, your goal will be to save your wife from a curse before the night ends. The game has mostly hidden objects phases and several puzzles to figure out, but nothing very difficult at all, which is good for newcomers to this genre of game. As with most hidden objects titles, as you visit a location, you’ll find objects surrounded by sparkles, which notifies you that a hidden objects phase will start when you click on it. You will go back and forth between locations within each of the areas to collect all the necessary objects to successfully complete all the quests and move forward to the next area. You’ll also meet interesting characters along the way, most of whom will ask you to complete a quest; once complete, you’ll receive an important item to help you move forward in the story. There are a few locations where you must hover over all the screens to find an object to activate, but most of the time it’s pretty straightforward, as all the objects and characters are easily visible. In terms of the story, it is fairly good but very short. Whether you choose to play on the normal or hard difficulty, it will take you around 2 hours to complete the game. The graphics are ok but nothing special. The game works fine from start to finish and also has achievements. Positives: ~~~~~~~ + Nice graphics + 7 areas to visits + Good story + Achievements Negatives: ~~~~~~~~ - No trading cards - Very short (around 2 hours) Save your wife from a curse which has affected couples for over 200 years, in the Tales of Sorrow: Strawsbrough Town. 6/10 Key provided by the developer/publisher for review purposes.
