Let me start of with the good: The combat system is great! And now for everything else: It feels more like a proof of concept for the combat system rather than a proper game. The reason I say that is that it tells three half-finished stories that are very, very loosely tied together by
the antagonist
. The stories feel half-finished because as soon as they start going somewhere, they're done and we move on to the next one. All build-up, no climax basically. Well, the first two stories didn't really have build-ups either... hm... The third story sort of has a payoff, but it mostly feels forced. I think all three stories could make for interesting games if they were allowed to be properly explored, not thrown into a vague pile. Honestly, if the third story was the only story told and the first two stories were told as flashbacks or explanations as to why things were happening, I think this would be a lot better. Because the third story is the only one that's remotely developed.
Ya know, I feel bad for putting this game off, I got it for christmas back in 2016, a month or two ago I played the first story aand then left it alone for a while, well I finished the rest of it in one sitting right now and I can say. I wish I paid for it, for a short game thats made with RPG Maker this has a lot of effort put into it, I feel like this and Undertale are my two favorite 8-bit story driven games, its a small margin below Undertale but the devs should feel proud for what they did. When I first started it I thought the sapling you see at the start was going to show the time frame of events, which it does, just during the second and third story I lost track of it, I assume the tree in the garden is the sapling based on how close it was to the water but it might not be idunno. During the thrid story your in a forest so I couldn't find it, I know its somewhere near the dock/bridge area. Also just to toss this in here, its not a glitch but perfect timing. After I beat the demon/masked man the first time with Flynn, as it faded to black and showed only the sapling, my computer closed the game to restart for some updates, at first I had though, in the split second before it rebooted, that the devs put it in the code to close the game and when I would open it back up it would be a new time period but the screen would still be on the sapling now grown more. This game is great and I love it, the bosses had moves that were completely avoidable once you learned the pattern and could defend at the right 'points in time' but then they would change slightly and you would need to relearn it, I enjoyed learning what happened to Fylnn and when I discovered the gravestone of another character my heart sank a bit, it's all connected and I love it. Pick it up, its cheap and you can finish it in an evening sitting.
Had fun with this game for about 78 minutes, basic but really charming. Until I encountered a highly unbalanced battle I just could not win. And I was stuck in that area, couldn´t leave, Can not recommened
Short and sweet low budget JRPG.
Reseña de \Tales Across Time\

RPG Maker strikes again! This is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel JRPG ripoffs spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club weeaboo fan fiction. This one is fairly linear and features three somewhat unrelated character stories. There's some hand drawn art that's, well, it would get high marks for someone in junior high art class. Combat is fairly one-dimensional. I think this falls square into the middle of the huge pile of mediocrity that is RPG Maker games on Steam. Gamers who want a good retro JRPG experience would be better off playing the originals, like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean or Chrono Trigger. Leave this terrible fan fiction in the shovelware bundles where it belongs.
Short game. Took me about 3 hours to complete it. Not the kind of RPG you level up on or anything. The story was mildly interesting. Not deep at all. Some parts, such as how the mask ties into the 2nd part then the chick popping up at the end didn't make much sense, as I don't see how she had a bone in the fight. Overall the story was kind of shallow but still somewhat interesting. For the few dollars I paid for the game, I would still recommend it. Music was probably the best part about the game. Really reminded me of Secret of Mana back in the day, as well as the games graphics also reminded me of Secret of Mana. Battles were interesting. No random battles in this game. If you want to try something different, this game is that and will only take up a few hours of your life. If you got 3 to 5 bucks to burn, you shouldn't be disappointed. You get your moneys worth
