PRO GAMER REPORTING IN. Beat the game with auto-click disabled. There are new story scenes in hard mode, it's a nice touch. It feels very rewarding to memorize boss patterns. They can seem tricky at first. In hard mode they're easier than the waves once you do. The charge attack is powerful. The chinese food stage makes me hungry for chinese, it's unreal. Co-op Hidden Feature This can be a fun local two player game where someone uses the mouse to attack, and the other uses the keyboard to move the octopus.
Short video review: https://youtu.be/9a-y3oA67jY Takoyaki Surprise is a charming little clicker adventure game where you control your octo-samurai with WASD and your sword(fish) with the mouse. The goal is simple: click on all food until's it's mashed, while not becoming seafood yourself. Highlights are the graphics and music, with the visuals being very charming Dos-esque pixel art (probably thanks to this being made on the OHRRPGCE engine). I especially like how murdering food leaves "gibs" (literally?) so by the end the stage is just covered in exploded foot bitsies. For the asking price it's a great little timewaster that I keep popping back to from time to time to run a stage or two just because it's weirdly therapeutic romp to murder click a bunch of stuff. It actually reminds me of an old game I had on Windows 98 called "Stress Relief" or something where you'd use a variety of weapons to just click on desktop icons to blow them up. Same kinda vibes.
This is a very fun and very addicting game. There is soooo much love put into it! 🐙 The soundtracks slaps like I cannot yell enough how fun the level music is. (My favorites so far is the Mexican Restaurant and the Chinese Restaurant Theme) 🐟 The levels are so nicely detailed and so colorful, the entirety of the game is just filled with so much color and fun. The stages also have really great funny punny names alongside with the bosses names and also delivering punny lines! 🦑 THERE IS VOICE ACTING!? ANIMEEE. 🍕This game gets very git gud at a certain point, but if you like the challenge (like me) then this is something you will be looking for hehe. (Please stretch and drink water in general when playing games!) 🌮 I like the small details when you murder food, it leaves their bits behind. This is the same with Sakana's charge up just straight up murdering an entire group of enemies all at once lol. Just so satisfying. 🍤 This game reminds me of those old fun arcade games back in the 90s-00s. This game in particular though, still keeps that vibe and makes you feel like a kid again. 🧁 I love Tako's and Sakana's little victory dance when you finish the stages, they are so cute!😭❤ ❤ This little gem is a Chef's Kiss outta Ten. 👨🍳 Please play this game it's super worth it! ❤
A well polished clicker with good level and boss variety. Also jam packed with food puns. The music is awesome as well!
Killer game. Not much else out there like it. It's super satisfying to do the super attack on a huge group of weaker enemies. Soundtrack is nuts. For only a few bucks, you ought to give this one a shot.
"Fun game. GG EZ." While the idea of controlling two characters with two inputs at once seems daunting at first, it's easy to pick given that you're focusing primarily on moving one character. Despite the inputs being simple, the gameplay increase in difficulty as new enemy varieties unlock and the larger waves of enemies come into the levels. Only issue for me was my arm tensing up after clicking so much; autoclicker option in the setting does help relieve this. Nice job for a small game.
Una forma interesante de diseñar para control de teclado y ratón, acompañado con una temática divertida y original. Solo llevo un nivel, pero para lo barato que es, parece que cumple.
Although there are lots of retro indie games on the market, most of them focus more on emulating the feel of console games from the 8/16 bit era and the arcade scene of the 80's and 90's feels neglected in comparison. Takoyaki scratches that itch in that it feels just like a coin-op in almost every aspect. The gameplay is fast paced and action based, designed to be challenging but also enticing, to keep you wanting to put more quarters to play even in the face of trial and error. The most unique aspect would probably be the controls in which you must take on two player characters at the same time. It's actually just moving around one character with the arrows and the swordfish is basically just a weapon but it's something that could still work with co-op. I haven't tested whether or not the game is compatible with physical controllers, but it feels like something that could work well as an arcade game with joystick movement for the octopus and trackball movement for the swordfish. Even for keyboard though the controls work well enough that it's not too frustrating to play or difficult to grasp. The game's world and presentation is silly and lighthearted, especially with the corny puns and jokes sprinkled throughout. Overall, for only a few dollars it's not a bad investment, especially if you get it while on sale. If you're looking for wholesome nostalgia but also an innovative challenge then this is something worth checking out.
I'm only 20 min into this game, but it's already nourishing my early gamer nostalgia with all the right sounds and visuals to to call forth "Monsters in my Pocket", "Paper Boy", "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", and "Super Dodge Ball". This is a cute and casual click-to-defeat, move-to-dodge game about surviving and skewering bouncing burgers, ornery onion rings and rotating raviolis, with appropriately over-the-top chains of explosions on defeated bosses. It would have been right at home loaded on a cartridge and shelved next to all of my earliest loved console classics. This love letter to simple-controls retro games is worth the asked 5 dollars and is a steal at $1.49 USD in the current 2024 winter sale.
This is a really unique game and I really recommend it. Use your hand eye coordination to save the princess. The game play is split between using the keyboard to stay alive while using your mouse to kill any and all enemy's on screen. I personally am not a huge fan of clicker games but I found myself really loving this one. You should definitely try it out.
