Reviews
I've played it more than Beat Saber, because it "feels" better. Maybe sounds weird, but it's more engaging and direct to music, than the disconnected Lightsaber, as you need to move your entire body. I know there are mods, etc. but I rate the game just by how the usual one will get it. I love both games, but this one is my all time favourite. Custom songs are also available, but unfortunately by far not as many as for Beat Saber.
The reason I exist

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

good fun
Playing on Quest 3 with BoboVR halo strap, wirelessly using a Davolink "Kevin" dedicated VR access point, streaming via Virtual Desktop on a 5070 Ti / 7800X3D. This game is exhilarating and a fantastic way to enjoy music. I'll admit I'm not too big of a fan of "dance" music and EDM, but between the 80s and 90s and Muse stuff and some choice cuts from the built-in songs, plus a lot of purposeful picks on the Synthriderz custom song / beatmap site, I've found PLENTY of tunes that I enjoy a lot. The Birdhouse In Your Soul custom map might be my all-time favorite, but the Muse Starlight Experience is also incredible. I also really appreciate the variations and configurability built into the game. There's a variety of ways to go from mild and chill to tremendously challenging, and everything in between. I've even enjoyed SEATED Synth Riders by using a reduced world scale in the SteamVR quick menu (but most of the time I'm going 1.0x in SteamVR and scaling UP Synth Riders a bit using the built-in setting, so my side-to-side and top-to-bottom spread is extensive and gives a great workout). I never thought I would do well at these types of games but my skills have improved quite a bit over time, which is a satisfying and gratifying experience. Overall this game has become an absolute staple of my daily VR intake / consumption.
Musik an. ⸻ 🇬🇧 English More than 100 hours later, Synth Riders is still one of the best VR rhythm games I’ve played. If Beat Saber is the only thing that comes to mind when you think of VR rhythm games, you’re missing out. Synth Riders feels completely different. While Beat Saber often revolves around precision, timing and fast movements, Synth Riders is much more about flow for me. You follow the music with your whole body, move through the patterns and eventually stop consciously thinking about what you’re supposed to do. You just move. During the COVID pandemic, VR rhythm games became much more than entertainment for me. Beat Saber, Synth Riders and Audio Trip were exercise, distraction and a surprisingly effective way to shut out the insanity of the outside world for a while. A lot of my personal high scores come from that period. And Synth Riders always had its own special place among them. It feels less like simply “hitting notes” and more like dancing through a rhythm game. A great map can pull you completely into the music. When the song, movement and level design come together, you get that rare moment where you simply disappear into the experience. For me, that’s one of the things VR does better than almost anything else. Of course, a rhythm game lives and dies by its music and maps. Not every track works equally well, and eventually you develop a very clear list of favourites. But when Synth Riders clicks, it clicks incredibly well. And yes, certain altered states of consciousness can add a rather… interesting audiovisual dimension to the experience. ;) It absolutely doesn’t need that, though. Headset on. Music up. Outside world off. More than 105 hours played, and still an easy recommendation. Alongside Beat Saber, Synth Riders is one of those games that perfectly demonstrates why VR can be so much more than simply putting a screen in front of your face.
Much better than Beat Saber.
(I have actually played this game for hundreds of hours on the Quest 3 as well.) The songs and choreography are top-notch, and much more dancey than other VR rhythm games. Also, ElectroSwing!
