Sword of the Stars: Complete Collection is the original Sword of the Stars games and the three expansions Born of Blood, A Murder of Crows and Argos Naval Yard. It is the year 2405, and human scientists have discovered a new technology that allows travel from star to star at speeds faster than light.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 18 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

While I remember enjoying this when I first played it, looking back at this game shows serious, core faults in the gameplay. First off, I love this series' lore. It's honestly great. I also love all of the character on display. Each species has different voice lines for nearly every task that really lets you sink your teeth into roleplaying as the supreme leader of an interstellar civilization... None of that is gameplay, however. What I'm doing on turn 1 is the same thing I'm doing turn 300. I'm in a no holds barred, there can only be one struggle to the death between my people and all others in which I throw spaceborne death blobs to overwhelm their spaceborne death blobs. Technologies are neat, in theory, but all any of them amount to is just to make it easier to death blob. New guns to blow up ships. New ships to blow up other ships. Better infrastructure to build more ships. Ways to see what ships your enemy has so you know what to blow up. I literally could go on for some time, but it all revolves around incrementally modifying your ability to overwhelm the enemy. The closest you get to communication is the ability for your genocidal dictator to get with the other guys' genocidal dictator and agree to not genocide each other...yet. For you see, there is no other route to victory. Even if it isn't the win condition, you'll be causing enough megadeaths for Warhammer 40K to be looking uncomfortable. Virgin Games Workshop needs to make casualties by having starfaring civilizations be dumb and charging into each others' machine gun fire. Based Kerberos here has humanity lobbing nukes as payback for some bugs attacking Earth. Yet, there is a reason that most space strategy games have other win conditions beyond "last species standing." A game is about options. A good game would keep me on my toes since, even if I'm the dominant military power, maybe someone is working to become the economic or cultural hegemon of the galaxy or is racing up the tech tree to ascend beyond the need for planets. SotS? I just sumo wrassle for the biggest piece of the galactic pie. How do I counter bigger ships? Get my own big ships. How do I counter better guns? Getting my own better guns or just overwhelming the enemy with too many ships. Ultimately, just the same stuff I've been doing since turn 1... It just gets so dull... Considering the amount of updates this game had back in the day, I mean, 2 serious expansions and a parts pack, I'm surprised that they never addressed this. Canonically, not that I'm saying canon is sacrosanct or anything, but these species CAN communicate via other methods than orbital annihilation. All of them have to deal with internal as well as external pressures. Why did Kerberos never change up the gameplay to give us, the players, more routes to victory than just glassing every enemy world until they say uncle? That alone limits replay and forces me to not recommend the game. You'll get some mileage, sure, but once you've seen most of the scenarios and played each species at least once, the game just has nothing new to show you.

Really good 4x actually.
Great oldie!
its good
Would love to see an update of this classic!
This game is better then stellaris!
Great variety of options
Tons of weapon choices but who knows how effective they are? Certainly not the player. Need some kind of damage indicator. Like numbers of damage appearing then disappearing per hit, as with other games? The battle reports aren't reliable, maybe one ship does a lot of damage then dies. One weapon will do poorly against one ship but great against another. Weapon descriptions are mostly fakenews. Need to half the number of weapons and put that energy into damage reports (each enemy ship and their breakdown of damage taken per hit?)
Visionary but flawed. If you like 4x space games, it's worth the ~$5 and will keep you entertained for weeks.
