The game starts up with a very nice catchy tune. Makes it sound familiar to some like some zelda game. The hack and slash is very generous with a bit hitbox so its easy to hit what comes towards you. Theres feces(xD), pumpkin jacks and worms to be wary about. After a lot of hack and slashing im not entirely sure what to do, although im guessing i gotta farm even more by killing more enemies, but im not sure. Theres some more interesting tunes in the game, but other than that there isn't that much to do. The art and feel is good so its alright to play just for a lil bit.

一款类似塞尔达传说操作方式但游戏内容极度无趣的游戏
Um. No. Just no. I helped pledge this during my binge Kickstarter days and serves as a shining example of why I'll never back video games there again. There is no story, at all, despite being in my unplayed game library for years. You have a semi-randomly generated world with 3 enemy types. Whack them with a sword, collect their doo-dads, and upgrade your equipment. One dungeon requires bombs to enter, so some grinding and I get enough gems for a bomb. Can't buy it. Game won't let me This project is such a massive abortion that Kansas is probably going to regulate it.

Awesome game! Can't wait to see what comes next.
Sword 'N' Board is a charmingly offbeat action-adventure developed and published by Stuffed Castle Studios that leans heavily into imagination, creativity, and the spirit of childhood adventure. Framed as a heroic quest that unfolds within the exaggerated fantasy of a kid’s backyard, the game transforms an everyday setting into a whimsical battleground filled with monsters, secrets, and puzzles born from playful imagination. This premise gives Sword ’N’ Board a distinctive personality, grounding its mechanics in nostalgia while drawing clear inspiration from classic top-down adventure games. Players take on the role of Sidd, a young protagonist whose mission is deceptively simple—recovering a stolen video game console—but quickly escalates into a grand fantasy journey shaped by cardboard weapons, improvised tools, and imaginative foes. The world feels handcrafted and deliberately playful, with environments that encourage curiosity rather than rushing toward objectives. Exploration is central to the experience, and the overhead perspective allows players to clearly read enemy patterns, puzzle layouts, and environmental interactions, reinforcing the game’s roots in traditional 2D adventure design. Combat is accessible yet layered, blending light action mechanics with an emphasis on item usage and experimentation. Sidd begins with rudimentary equipment, but progression revolves around discovering, crafting, and combining items to create stronger gear. The game’s standout mechanic is its item-combination system, which allows players to fuse objects in creative ways to unlock new weapons, tools, or upgrades. These combinations are not merely stat boosts; many have practical uses beyond combat, doubling as puzzle solutions or keys to previously inaccessible areas. This interconnected design encourages players to think flexibly about their inventory rather than relying on a single dominant strategy. Puzzle design is tightly woven into the game’s world and mechanics. Environmental obstacles often require clever application of crafted items, timing, or positioning rather than brute force. Hidden paths, destructible barriers, and optional secrets reward players who experiment and pay attention to subtle visual cues. While the lack of explicit guidance can make certain puzzles feel obscure, it also reinforces the sense of discovery and personal achievement when a solution finally clicks. The game trusts players to explore, fail, and learn through experimentation rather than relying on constant tutorials. Progression extends beyond equipment through a lightweight RPG system that allows Sidd’s attributes to be improved via forging and upgrades. Stats such as attack power, defense, agility, stamina, and luck meaningfully influence both combat and exploration. This gradual growth provides a satisfying sense of momentum, as early encounters that once felt challenging become manageable through smarter preparation and better gear rather than simple level grinding. The upgrade loop complements the game’s exploratory nature, making each new discovery feel purposeful. Visually, Sword ’N’ Board adopts a simple, stylized aesthetic that matches its imaginative tone. The environments and characters may not be technically impressive, but they convey warmth and personality, emphasizing charm over polish. Animations and effects are functional rather than flashy, and while some technical roughness is noticeable, the presentation succeeds in reinforcing the idea that this is a world shaped by a child’s imagination rather than a realistic fantasy realm. One of the game’s most commonly noted drawbacks is its unfinished or rough-around-the-edges feel. As an Early Access title with limited updates, certain systems lack refinement, and technical issues or awkward transitions can occasionally disrupt immersion. The absence of continued development has left some aspects feeling underdeveloped, which can be frustrating for players expecting a fully polished experience. However, for those willing to meet the game on its own terms, these imperfections coexist with moments of genuine creativity and clever design. Overall, Sword ’N’ Board is a heartfelt indie project driven by imagination and experimentation rather than scale or spectacle. Its strengths lie in its playful premise, interconnected item systems, and the freedom it gives players to approach challenges creatively. While its incomplete state and technical limitations prevent it from reaching its full potential, it remains an intriguing and memorable experience for players who appreciate unconventional indie adventures. For those drawn to nostalgic, exploration-focused games that reward curiosity and creativity, Sword ’N’ Board offers a uniquely personal journey that stands apart from more formulaic action-adventure titles. Rating: 5/10
Tags: Topdown - Zeldalike Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Eternal Early Access. This game smells like month old cabbage. Mismatched assets. Low resolution Fecals and Feclets. Game is inconsistent with cardboard thematic. Only a dozen screens worth of recycled tiles. Review: Something is not right here, the art for the protagonist, his weapon, and *some* of the scenery objects all have this cardboard cutout aesthetic to them and seem to have some sort of artistic direction to them. While the sprites for foes are all pixelated as all hell, shops are empty, and most of the scenery involve trees and other objects that do not feature the cardboard cutout aesthetic. Foes are called Fecals anf Feclets and you get the odd Jack o lantern foe. Its all very piecemeal and looks like someone put together some pre-made assets and started building the rest themselves with much inferior skills. The game itself has nothing to do in it other than navigate half a dozen screens that all look the same, collect so called crafting components for a system that is not implemented, you can repair your shield but I have yet to have seen the shield in action so not sure what the purpose of that would be. There is a sign that makes a joke about being useless, that asset is re-used everywhere. Conclusion: The half of the game that is most amateurish visually is also the half of the game that is most juvenile, with toilet humor, adding on top of that the amateur voice over about the kid smelling like month old cabbage and I am fairly positive that this is the dev's original work and given that assumption I am uninterested in seeing how this develops through Early Access. Dev was pretty lucky to have been able to ride the bundletrash golden years, early access free for all and trading card shenanigans. He is hopefully one of the last of his kind
El juego se ve bien!!! Pero le falta muchoo!!!!! para llegar a ser un Juego completo
