It's a very mediocre game, that I'd only recommend to SAO fans who want to see more of the characters and be introduced to new ones, and are willing to go through lots of repetitive dungeon crawling. The plot is honestly very barebones. For Aincrad story, you basically keep climbing the floors, while running into events that are connected to whatever's causing the weird stuff in Aincrad. As for the Hollow story, you explore the Hollow area while learning more about the area and the new character along the way. Both do get pretty interesting and fun at some points, but ultimately, not a lot of stuff happens. The gameplay itself gets pretty repetitive after a while. You just crawl through the same-looking dungeons, and fight through reused/recolored enemies while waiting for your skills to recharge. Add in the lack of music variety and it can get very boring. The good thing about the game for me are the extra events and the characters. The extra events are honestly very fun and interesting to see. Not only do you get to see events that couldn't have happened in the canon, you also get to see the cast in slice of life situations where they're just messing around and having fun. The new characters are also pretty cute and endearing. Just sucks that you have to get through so many repetitive stuff to see most of these content. Honestly, I probably should've given this game a negative review, after looking at all the negative points I've made, but I just keep remembering the fun I've had with the extra events and some parts of the story that I just can't be too harsh on the game.
Echoes of Aincrad at home
There’s a really strong double dose of nostalgia here—the SAO world itself, and that classic MMO feeling of teaming up and working toward shared goals. Running around with a party is fun, and even though the NPC AI isn’t exactly lifelike, it still captures that “adventuring together” vibe surprisingly well. The game is also quite long with a lot of content, and it’s nice being able to do online-style missions with NPCs. The floor and field bosses throughout Aincrad and the Hollow Area are well designed too, often with thoughtful mechanics that make fights more engaging than you’d expect. That said, there’s a lot of dialogue, so if you’re not into reading-heavy games, it may not be for you. Some story moments are also a bit weird, especially Kirito and his sister’s relationship at times, and there are several mature or suggestive scenes involving the female characters that can definitely push personal comfort levels. Performance is also a bit all over the place. The FPS can shoot well over 200 in some areas, then suddenly drop into the 20s in certain dungeons. It’s not unplayable, but the lack of a proper FPS lock is frustrating and makes the experience feel less stable than it should. My biggest issue though is the save system. There’s no real manual save, so you’re heavily reliant on autosaves that usually place you back in Arc Sophia. Late in the game, there are stretches where you fight multiple bosses back to back with no checkpointing. One section has you fight five bosses in a row, and if you die during the third phase of the fifth boss, you’re doing the entire sequence again from boss one. Even with those frustrations, it still captures that old-school party adventure feeling in a way that really worked for me, and I’d still easily recommend it to SAO fans.
love the anime but this game even after 3.8 hours and still cannot get into it. moving on.
I Love SAO and this game has so many things to do. You have an what if timeline where kirito couldn't clear the game after deafeating Kayaba. You can explore and complete floors 76 to 100 and explore hollow areas and hollow mission. Recommended if you're an SAO fan like me.
Very fun game that will make you smile and giggle at all the silly, heart-warming scenes and low-iq pervy scenes, if you are low iq like me! Don't take it too seriously and you will enjoy, yesyes! Has so many tropes! The dungeons are quite fun but get repetative and find myself just rushing through them to get to more of the silly harem stuff, lol
Hard crashed twice in the first 60 minutes. Mouse and camera sensitivity is all over the place and the combat system is a joke.
Хороша гра нa 8 з 10.
Such a broken and buggy port. Controller support is scuffed, M+KB is way too sensitive even on lowest settings. Alt-Tabbing risks a coin flip if your game will crash. Wish I could enjoy this one more,
