About

Please note: We are making this game available early in a raw work in progress state. If you are not interested in testing an extremely unfinished game you should wait until the full release.
During Early Access you should expect to see the following:
Placeholder UI elements that reserve space for planned features but do not work yet. These are part of the game development process and will be made functional over time.
Some features may be in a broken or unfinished state or temporarily disabled while the underlying features are being worked on.
Placeholder models, textures and low quality graphics. These are part of the game development process and we plan to create higher quality assets over time.
Placeholder maps. None of the songs in game include the full intended range of beatmaps and difficulties, and some songs may only have one difficulty available that might be too difficult to most players. A lot of maps are temporary and we plan to make higher quality maps over time.
Random game server outages
General bugs
A lot of planned features are not implemented yet. You can scroll down to the Early Access Roadmap section to get a rough idea of what's planned.
swingmania is a note slicing VR rhythm game focused at competitive ranked play, customizability, ultra high performance and cats!

The game includes a built in ranked system that lets you see where you stand in the world. Compete to become the #1 swingmania player, or see how far you can make it on the ranked ladder.
Playing ranked maps, such as the built in maps, will award you Performance Points (PP) based on the maps difficulty and your score. The bigger your total PP is, the higher your global rank will be!
The game features multiple types of notes, including
Colored notes which have to be hit using a specific hand
Rainbow notes that can be hit with either hand
Any direction notes that can be hit in any direction
Directional notes that have to be hit in a specific direction
Mines that must be avoided
Walls that you must avoid with your head
The base game includes a bunch of songs with maps ranging from very easy accuracy maps all the way to random angle challenge, squat challenge and 688 bpm vibro. Please keep in mind that during Early Access the selection of songs and maps is limited, and we plan to add more songs and maps for every type of player over time.
Map your own song collection with full freedom in note placement using swingmapper, our advanced map editor which is included with the game.
Packed with features catering to high skill play
Advanced HUD showing detailed score composition and statistics
Replay system allows you to analyze every swing in extreme frame-by-frame detail
Minimal distractions. You can disable the environment and any effects that could distract you and hinder gaming performance
Fine tune controller offsets for individual hands
Fine tune map parameters such as reaction time, judgement line distance
Please note: the game is in Early Access and a bunch of these features are still work in progress.
The game supports loading custom models for environments, notes, Cat Sticks(tm), etc for unlimited personalization.
The desktop view is optimized to be perfect for streaming or recording plays out of the box.
You get a smooth wide-FOV view so that noone has to deal with jank looking gameplay.
Twitch Integration is built in. You can read chat directly in-game.

We are planning to add many features and improvements to the game during Early Access, such as:
Graphical improvements
Better controller offset system
Proper tutorial
Rhythm scoring mode
Challenge level system
Better menus and leaderboards
Fitness tracking and heart rate monitor support
Full body tracked in-game avatars
More customization options
More counters and stats
Song specific environments and effects
Improvements to streaming features, camera controls and overlays
More built-in songs and maps
Cat improvements
Replay system improvements
Practice system
Ranked system improvements
And more!
We are building this game on a brand new game engine with one goal:
To be the most optimized VR game ever made. We are going to extreme lengths no-one else has to ensure the game never drops a single frame during hours of gameplay. The code path for every single frame and situation has been meticulously designed to avoid frame time spikes, and multiple CPU cores are utilized in a smart way. Please note that the game is in Early Access and not fully optimized yet.

Honestly this is the real main selling point. Please note though that the game is in Early Access and the cat is work in progress.

Gonna leave a review here mentioning that BeatLeader did in fact not invent the idea of tables. HardCPP did not in fact invent the idea of a chat room. Chromapper did not in fact invent the idea of 3D grid mapping software. "Performance points" is not something that came from previous mods. Skill triangles are not something BeatLeader invented. Line graphs are not something HardCPP invented. Are y'all gonna yell at peppy for osu!? Are y'all gonna yell at Stepmania devs for Stepmania? No, of course y'all aren't. Shut up and critique the game properly rather than crying like babies over things looking similar. I have qualms with the game, sure, but most of them are already being worked on or are planned to be worked on. I'd give a neutral review for now if I could, but the game's very early in development.
This entire game is just a beat saber clone with nothing but ripped off community mods implemented as a direct copy instead of modified to match the game, with only a quarter of the devs that have had their mods copied actually even just thanked in the credits, which still seems less than sufficient. It's also strange how you copied beatleader 1 to 1 and thanked scoresaber devs instead, but not beatleader devs. You even copied beatleader to the point of adding leaderboard options that it has that don't function yet, and stuff like a star triangle that have no data at all, yet there is UI for it. I guess to make this constructive, try to make what you have now into an actual original product. Sure your base product can be a beat saber clone, but at least do your own thing for everything around it. Get your own style and do your own way of implementing the features you like from beat saber mods, it just looks so jarring to have existing mods' visuals just put in 1:1 even though it doesn't look correct to match the game at all. And it seems super lazy and very dubious legally and socially. At least it's free.

I played the original builds of swingmania (before it was "swingmania") where there was a lot more in common with BS then now, the engine is the main takeaway i have of this game, getting 1000+ fps in a vr game is unheard of and i know this game was designed with optimization in mind. This was designed for the community and attempts to solve a lot of the main gripes with BS, it has issues, sure but its cool asf so idgaf
This is a really impressive solo dev project, i like it a lot and it definitly counts as the most optimised vr game i ever played. On the topic of assumed copyright infringement of beatsaber, META doesn’t own any rights related to the basic concept of “hitting objects to music with blades.” That’s too broad to be copyrighted, and it’s more in the realm of game mechanics, which usually can’t be copyrighted at all. Its built on a custom engine, none of the code base was copied, no branding or original coprighted music was used and the art style and animations are all different. It is also FREE to play Im very excited to see how this developes more in the future and will keep a close eye one this a negative review just linked the wikipedia article of copyright infringement and from that very article: "Non-infringing types of works" In order to qualify for protection, a work must be an expression with a degree of originality, and it must be in a fixed medium, such as written down on paper or recorded digitally.[68][69] The idea itself is not protected. That is, a copy of someone else's original idea is not infringing unless it copies that person's unique, tangible expression of the idea. Some of these limitations, especially regarding what qualifies as original, are embodied only in case law (judicial precedent), rather than in statutes. this seems to support my idea that swingmania stands a good chance.
sure, the performance of this game is fantastic but that's literally where the positives end. this game is frustratingly disappointing
just gonna be blunt; there was NO point for this game to be made, it's for some reason supposed to spin off beat saber for what benefit? instantly loading into levels? i guess?... mechanics-wise beat saber already does the "VR slicing rhythm game" genre PERFECTLY, this game just feels blatantly ripped and cheaper. The base-game charting is horrible and literally every map i tried spammed crouch walls up and down i'm not saying keeping the player standing still is better but squatting every second for the entire duration of a map is just stupid and crouch walls should be used tastefully. Also the fact that you cannot change your user colours and the sabers are rainbow doesn't help the player indicate which hand is what, the rainbow note feature was cool to see but introduced poorly, a tutorial would do a lot for this game. A kind of niche problem but very big problem is the fact you need to restart your computer after playing this game if you want to play any other Unreal Engine game, for SOME reason any other game will run at like 1fps until you restart your PC. 0/10 does nothing new, blatantly ripped off beat saber and a clunky broken game.
Positives: It is optimized only taking up little over 250MB. Loads fast into menu, maps and "replays" Negatives: It is a worser version of Beat Saber. Visually looks awful. So many "features" don't work but there are still buttons for them. Almost all stuff is stolen mods / gameplay from Beat Saber and it's community. Maps are awful. Notes looks terrible. Replays don't work properly and shows debugs (which idk if is intended). Bugs including: No limit to "Reaction time". Line appearing on leaderboard from said "Reaction time" Few "Inspired mods" (Stolen): Counters+, Custom notes (even though it's just 2 awful looking "notes" you can choose), Camera2, SaberFactory (custom sabers(sorry "cat sticks)), SongChartVisualizer, HitScoreVisualizer, A few mapping mods idk the names for and probably more that i can't name off the top of my head Overall conclusion: This is utterly disgusting to call "inspired" and I am sad this exists, it has no reason to exist. I get that the basic "goal" is make a "optimized and stable competitive vr note slicing rhythm game" with it's own custom engine, but it literally just BeatSaber with mods stolen from a bunch of community members. "Cat Games" or Catse had no reason to make this game, or at least put a twist on it instead of just calling it "Inspired". Beat saber is and will always be better than whatever Catse made here. Already complained earlier about visuals but I will touch on it again real quick. Visually it looks ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful, the notes, the walls, the "cat sticks", bombs. This is very nit picky but, the patch notes are also very unprofessional, having "UwU" in one section, wording being poor on some changes. Controls are also so weird, I know you can change it but default is "Pause with trigger" but I guess Catse didn't think when you have another (Stolen) mod that uses Trigger in the very beginning of a map, Trigger to skip, I know 2 controllers, one pauses, one doesn't but still. Mentioned earlier that replays has debugging stuff, no idea if it's intended but even if it is, I had to hold trigger to play my replay, I couldn't just watch, BUT REMEMBER Trigger can also pause. Let's talk about the pause thing, Recently Catse added a "anti-pause" update, so now you can't unpause after pausing, no matter what. I know some people consider it cheating, but why have a pause function if (currently) it is literally useless, either just make people go back to menu or restart, it's not hard to think abou that. Sorry but this was a waste of not only my time to play, but a waste of time for Catse to make since we already have the original game BeatSaber. Please just save up the few bucks BeatSaber costs and don't support this. Utterly disappointed and disgusted with all the "Inspired" stuff (Little edited stuff I forgot to mention) You can't change colors, or at least I couldn't, You couldn't unpause in your replay. Those are just things I noticed in literally under an hour. I am guessing if I really wanted to find everything I would have to use longer on this game, but I refuse. Awful
First off, yea its a blatant rip off of beat saber. but even then you gotta think about what reasons someone would choose this over beat saber. And the only reason i can think of is just because its free, other than that i dont really see the point of this game.. notes are odd and so are the sabers. built in maps are pretty stupid, and the pause button is the trigger? i dont get it.. if you really cant afford beat saber leme know and ill show you where to look
honestly the hate isnt deserved, this game has quite literally given me a breath of fresh air for the first time in a while, ive been trying to get back into the other note slicing rhythm game but it hasnt peaked my interest, but i just started playing this and im already kinda hooked, already reached #1 global, great game really! hopefully the updates in the future make this game a lot more packed with cool stuff, the fact that this is accessible for FREE compared to the other note slicing game is honestly amazing, this brings so much potential to both games and nobody sees it. as for the stuff about certain mods from the other note slicing game being stolen, i think thats what actually makes swingmania good? the fact that these things are baked into the game by default makes things so convenient for people who dont wanna deal with mod managers and all that shenanigans, feel free to get mad at this review all you want; the note slicing game associated with zuck on deez nuts isnt beating how convenient this game is, i will defend swingmania till im dead
Beat Saber clone? ✅ Beat Saber termonology in description? ✅ Should you play Beat Saber instead? ✅ I'm not sure what the "dev" thought about, when deciding: "Hey, let's make... Beat Saber! And copy all the things the community made." ChroMapper clone: ✅ Beat Leader leaderboard-copy: ✅ CatCore/BS+ Chat functionality for Twitch etc.: ✅ Camera2: ✅ SongChartVisualizer: ✅ There's probably more stolen stuff. You're honestly just better off playing Beat Saber and mod it, instead of supporting stealing other peoples work.
