When I have to run around a game not knowing where to go or what to do in order to proceed, it's frustrating. I'm supposed to assume what the dev thinks is logic and interpret that logic within his digitally created language?
SurvivalEXtreme is an indie action-shooter from LegendaryLegion that attempts to blend wave-based survival, demon-slaying chaos, and light RPG progression into a single, fast-paced package. Set in a post-apocalyptic 2030 where humanity has returned to reclaim a demon-infested Earth, the game frames itself around the idea of becoming a “legend” — building up your character through upgrades, gear, and relentless combat. At first glance, the premise carries a certain pulpy appeal: the world has fallen, monsters roam freely, and only violent determination stands between survival and annihilation. This dramatic setup creates a fitting backdrop for a game built around high-intensity encounters and rapid escalation. The core gameplay loop revolves around fending off increasingly difficult waves of demons, collecting resources from fallen enemies, and reinvesting those resources into personal upgrades. Whether played solo or in its intended cooperative mode, the structure remains the same: survive long enough to grow stronger, and grow strong enough to survive the next onslaught. Movement and combat are immediate and unrestrained. The game leans heavily into visceral action—blood-soaked arenas, grotesque demons, and frantic encounters define its moment-to-moment experience. Weapons carry a sense of heft, and melee or ranged attacks often erupt into explosive gore. For players who enjoy uncompromising, raw action with minimal downtime, these encounters can deliver a brief but satisfying rush. Progression adds a layer of long-term motivation. By collecting currency and materials during combat, players can unlock weapons, enhance their character’s stats, or improve equipment. This loop aims to give each session a sense of direction beyond simple survival. In theory, repeated runs build toward a more capable character, enabling deeper waves, tougher enemies, and smoother combat flow. While these systems are not especially complex, they provide a functional framework for players to experiment with loadouts and approaches, particularly when attempting to survive alongside friends. However, SurvivalEXtreme struggles significantly when it comes to depth, polish, and longevity. Much of its design centers on repetition—similar arenas, similar waves, and similar enemy behaviors. Although this is common in survival-based shooters, the game offers limited tools to break that repetition or introduce meaningful variation. The enemy roster feels narrow, and the structure rarely changes enough to surprise the player after the first hour or two. Without narrative progression or more intricate systems to diversify the experience, the action can quickly begin to feel predictable, even when the difficulty ramps up. The game’s most prominent challenge, though, is the lack of an active player base. With almost no concurrent players on Steam and extremely low engagement metrics, the cooperative experience—arguably one of the game’s main selling points—becomes inaccessible unless coordinated directly with friends. This not only limits the gameplay potential but also isolates the title to a mostly solo experience, where its shortcomings become far more apparent. The limited community feedback also suggests that many players bounced off early, likely due to unpolished mechanics, technical issues, or insufficient content to justify extended play. Despite these weaknesses, the game does possess the earnest enthusiasm of an indie project swinging big. Its aesthetic is unapologetically grim and aggressive, its combat embraces chaos without restraint, and its progression system gives at least a surface-level sense of growing stronger against overwhelming odds. For players who enjoy quick, violent, wave-based shooters and are willing to overlook rough edges, there is some entertainment to be found—especially in short bursts, or in coordinated matches with friends who share a taste for demon-shredding mayhem. Ultimately, SurvivalEXtreme is a game with an exciting premise but limited execution. It offers raw action, cooperative potential, and a framework for character building, yet doesn’t fully develop these foundations into a compelling long-term experience. As a brief diversion it may satisfy, but as a survival shooter meant to stand out in a crowded genre, it falls short of its ambitions. Players seeking depth, polish, or community-driven longevity may want to look elsewhere, but those open to simple, furious demon-slaying in short sessions may still find value in its chaotic energy. Rating: 5/10
Good game with different modes like deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag etc... All available solo with bots if you want. Also horde mode with demons and various monsters. The gameplay feels nice and it's worth it for action fans.
