Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance

With nearly a thousand hours of game play i can confidently say this game is fantastic well passed its release. and here's hoping for a Supreme Commander 3 in the near future

Big mecha fighting on big battlefield. Very addictive game

old but gold. I still enjoy playing it after all these years. it has a few mechanics that I really like.

Guys, do you want a proper Strategy game with physics projectiles and great gameplay? Get this, and then Forged Alliance Forever client. You won't regret. Worth a play before BAR and other games will be released fully to replace this king. Just get it. Best strategy out there by far.

This review is based on Normal difficulty and just installing and playing the game without FAF (Forged Alliance Forever). Hint: Save before destroying the last objective. You can turtle and then build, build, build. Conga line your way to victory. For the 1st mission, I expected to complete the level by completing the objective, but no! Instead, the map expands and now the enemy is kicking my butt! Good thing I loaded a previous save before all hell breaks loose. Seriously, be prepared to spend at least 2 hours on one level. There are no achievements. Just bragging rights. Score: 9 out of 10. Had a couple of crashes, making me lose progress. Six campaign missions. Each mission can take up to 2 hours. Three races. Again, this is based on just playing the game without FAF. FAF has the original campaign from Supreme Commander. A third campaign and being able to play the Seraphim.

Good a strategy game that doesn't need many actions per second for casual play. I got this game all the way back in its physical box at its release. I like this title because of the strategic zoom that allows you to seamlessly go to the whole map view, really making it a strategy game and not a close-in tactics game. You also don't need to micro-manage units too often in casual multiplayer or playing against the computer (something that isn't true with Supreme Commander 2, which is basically a different game). One of its weaknesses is that for larger maps, you can expect to spend a good 20 minutes building your economy and not doing much combat, because harrassing with low-end units is far less effective than on the small maps. It's still a good game, and it still works on my Linux machine many years later.
