This is a pretty fun update to the old Super Offroad game we all remember from arcades and NES. There is a lengthy Career progression with tons of upgrades similar to the old games and more on top of that. And despite having 2 different in-game currencies they are all earned from winning races or leveling up your character (not microtransactions!). There are also some nice mini-game events like the long jump and obstacle course that change it up from time to time. One negative is that your truck starts off pretty slow, and it takes several races before you start to get a decent sense of speed. It's good for getting used to the controls, but definitely makes you feel less excited to race at first. I'm not a huge fan of the graphics effects...the lighting is a bit harsh and there are some line overlays on the trucks and things that make it all feel aliased/jaggy or something. It's not bad by any means, especially from a team of this size, just slightly hard on the eyes if you pay attention to it. My biggest complaint is probably the AI rubberbanding. You're almost always better off sticking with the other drivers, because if you get too far ahead they're going to come boosting out of nowhere and blow your doors off as they win the race. I wish this was toned down considerably to make them more competitive overall but less "come from behind" weiners. Although there are a ton of upgrades, as far as I can tell you're limited to the one monster truck for vehicles. You can change color and get liveries for it, but you won't be changing into buggies or stadium trucks or anything if that matters to you. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this if you want something like the old Super Offroad. Support a tiny indie team! The developer has been super responsive to bugs and suggestions, and hopefully that continues with polishing the game even further!

Purchased this game as I was a huge fan of the original Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off-Road Arcade game. After having played it, there is little in common with the original style or gameplay. Namely: 1) Racing feels slow and kludgy. 2) Controls lack precision. Very easy to spin out and lose races. It feels like you're steering the Griswold's 1979 Ford LTD Country Squire Station Wagon - you have to turn the wheel a full rotation just to make the tires turn a little bit. Driving on a track feels more like snowboarding down a slope. 3) Upgrades don't make sense (there are several categories, such as exhaust, engine, etc). There are only limited slots you can use - but many categories of items that can fill these limited slots. No explanation whether a muffler or exhaust manifold (for example) would be better in those slots, nor any performance explanation after you fill the slots with different components. (For tires, one of the items is tire bolts. Does this mean I'm driving around without tire bolts without this upgrade?) 4) Nitro isn't like original, where you push it and get a nitro blast. It's more like a nitro squirt gun, where you hold the button down and as you hold it the truck goes faster. (This was a big dissapointment, as one of my fondest memories of the original arcade game was banging on the nitro button, getting enough nitro blasts to win a race) 5) Sound effects are weak. You can acquire certain prizes during the race (such as a wrench, which lowers damage, or a money bag which increases your coin by an unknown amount) - but the sound effects are so soft that when you hit the icon, you can't tell if you even got the added bonus or not 6) Boring chellenges. Example: A bunch of concrete barriers are laid out in a pattern. You need to drive your way through the maze in a certain time. If you don't achieve the goal, the goal is made easier automatically. (Adds more time for you). 7) Graphics, UI and ambiance feel like something out of the late 90s. It reminds me a lot of San Francisco Rush on the N64 (only graphically, sans the fun gameplay). 8) Must use a combination of Xbox remote and keyboard. There is no way to just use the Xbox remote to navigate through menus, etc. (If there is, it is not easy to figure out, and the game will make you program your remote prior to working in the menus). I really wanted to get into this game, and I tried, to no avail. Unfortunately cannot recommend this game. Although it was inspired by Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off-Road, there is zero likeness to it other than the fact that it has trucks in it.
THIS GAME IS NOT FUN EVEN FOR THE 3$ I BOUGHT IT FOR! THIS GAME IS NOT FUN EVEN FOR FOR FREE! THIS GAME IS AN ABSOLUTE CHORE TO DEAL WITH THANKS TO A HORRIBLE INVASIVE UI They need to patch fix or update this but they never will. the game is abanon ware. Go Watch youtube play throughs before you waste money this! this games store-videos aren't the real experience. Seriously why do all the time trials start the trial -in- a menu screen with the clock active? no count down no 3 2 1, or red red red green, no. you get a menu in yor face and the timer is running already! you must put down your controller, and click "play" for the screen to undarken and your screen space to un-clutter. this menu isn't even transparent! having to go back and forth between clicking things with the mouse and the controller is horrible. Whoever came up with this UI needs to be fired. maybe even firing-squad'ed. This game is like a bad Microsoft office/power point presentation at a investor meeting. Clearly no one around the table had any clue what was going on and didn't care. the only words anyone heard was "SHIP IT!" there might be a game some where under this awful menu system. but by the time you've suffered it, all will to live or play is sucked out of your life. I wanted a game like Super Offroad. this isn't it. This is garbage. Ask for a refund now before you even buy it! maybe it'll send a message.
NOTE: As of Patch v1.4.2.3 the AI, Nitro, and Damage issues have been addressed. However I am unable to test these changes since I have finished the campaign and as far as I can tell, there is no way to reset it. I will leave them in the review for posterity as this is a developer that listens to his players. There is a section at the towards the end of the review that covers post patch 1.4.2.3, and with this patch, I can 100% recommend this game. So SuperTrucks Offroad is a game very similar to Offroad, Super Offroad, and many other games that focus on either monster trucks or trophy trucks. It really plays on your nostalgia like ThunderWheels does. The premise of the game is you race, you earn money and experience, you upgrade your truck, rinse/repeat. You're a rookie Monster Truck driver who is just starting out, and your opponents are looking down on you. The game starts off easy and well enough, but once you finish Albuquerque and go to Washington the difficulty shoots through the roof as the training wheels have come off. This is where I feel the game starts to stumble. You can't go back and re-race previous races to try and earn experience and cash to make your truck better, so you'll end up on the same race, which will sometimes be mirrored(raced in reverse) until you've fully upgraded your truck or got lucky enough and the AI didn't cheat you out of a win. The Race difficulty I feel is way out of tune compared to the Long Jumps, Obstacle Courses, and Time Trails which can usually be won in a single attempt. The difficulty feels strictly artificial and unnatural as there are more penalties for the player than the AI. The AI will speed boost towards the end of the race making it sometimes impossible to regain or even keep the lead. The player's truck feels weightless when hit by an AI truck, but when the player truck hits an AI truck, it barely does anything. The AI is invincible while the player truck has a health bar(There are repair pickups but the races are usually about 2 laps each and they are rare). Any touching of the walls or other trucks usually leads to sigificant damage. There are two currencies earned in the game, there is cash and gold coins. Cash is earned through racing and as far as I can tell, Gold Coins are earned via leveling up and some are given out for visiting the developer's Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit pages. While you can't currently buy them for real money, the option seems to be on the table as possible monitization. The Upgrade System is more complicated than it needs to be. You can spend your money directly upgrading your truck or use upgrade cards. The upgrade card system isn't really explained well in the tutorial, but there are 4 unique cards per upgrade category, and when you've collected all four, your next upgrade is free. I like having options when it comes to upgrading, but it wasn't explained well and just feels complicated for no reason. There is also a cap on the number of times you can upgrade your truck until you reach a certain player level. Tier 1 has no level requirements, Tier 2 requires level 10, and Tier 3 requires level 20. During my playthrough, I reached the max Tier 1 upgrades at about level 6, so for the next four levels there is no way to improve my truck and completing races then comes down to more luck than anything else because of the previously discussed difficulty. The Upgrade Card system is a very interesting concept but I feel fails in it's delivery. You can earn cards via pick-up during races or crates. Crates can be purchased with both of the currencies earned in the game and come with a number of cards, some of which are cosmetic. You can only earn the cosmetic upgrades via these crates, and then you have to purchase them in addition to the cost of the crate. BUT they aren't purely cosmetic, the paint schemes are just that, new colors to paint your truck, but the tires and branding/decals of the in game part manufacturers give bonuses to specific stats, with the best being purchased by the gold coins. The controls are simple, I highly recommend playing with a controler, but when you do, you won't be able to navigate the menus, for that you'll need to use your mouse. It's not a deal breaker and I hope the developer will add this fuctionality at a later date. Physics can best be defined as loose. There is a lot of bouncing around, take a ramp at an odd angle, you can easily flip, roll, or just land awkward which will scrub your speed, thankfully for when this happens you have a "reset truck" button which more or less places your truck mostly straight, but it also will scrub your speed. When you hit walls, trucks, or obstacles can send your truck flying, rolling it over, turning it around completely or just spinning you out. However, very little if any of those happen with the AI trucks, rarely will they spin out or get an odd bounce that could end their race. There are multiplayer and daily challenges but at the time of review I was unable to join any games. The Challenges have a daily reset and you really only have a chance of being in the top 3 once you've progressed enough in the game to have a maxed out truck. There is a daily offer that gives you a discount on cosmetic items for a discount and from what I've seen, can only be purchased with the premium currency. The music and sound effects fit the game very well, however there are very few music tracks that I've heard in the game so far. The engine sounds have a nice feel of the power your truck has, however the scraping noise when you riding along the wall is rather annoying. After about 2 hours I eneded up turning off the music and just playing my own over instead. Your milage may vary. Post-Patch v1.4.2.3 TLDR: As I had hoped the developer listened to the players and has patched in some of the suggestions. Pros: Great presentation and graphics Controls are solid once you get used to them Encountered no bugs or crashes Plays on your Nostalgia Seperate audio sliders Great Music/Sounds Cons: Can't reset progress or re-race completed events Upgrade System that is limiting and poorly explained Crates I don't feel fit Two Currencies leaves the option for microtransactions open Cosmetic Upgrades that aren't really cosmetic Can't keep the Rusted Truck look! Can't Navigate menus with the controller Limited music selection Pre-Patch v1.4.2.3 TLDR: This is one of those games where there is a healthy mix of good and bad traits where it's hard to give a either a thumbs up or a thumbs down. So I'm giving it a thumbs up since the developer is actively engaging the players and is listening to their suggestions. Video coming soon. Pros: Great presentation and graphics. Controls are solid once you get used to them. Encountered no bugs or crashes Plays on your Nostalgia Seperate Audio sliders Great Music/Sounds Cons: Rubberbanding and Invincible AI Uneven Difficulty Upgrade System that is limiting and poorly explained Crates I don't feel fit Two Currencies leaves the option for microtransactions open Cosmetic Upgrades that aren't really cosmetic Can't keep the Rusted Truck look! Can't Navigate menus with the controller Limited music selection
Not sure why this game gets so many bad reviews. Im in my 40s so I grew up on Super Off Road. This game is pretty darn close to it. It also has a long progression warm up, you don't start having any competition on the track or really getting your truck fast until you've put a solid hour into it. Then it gets really fun. For $5 it was a no brainer to pick up. I would of dropped $20 at the arcade for the 53 minutes I played this today.
I was hoping for a modern version of "Iron Man Super Off Road", but I was disappointed. Well, the game is ok, and the graphics while driving are pretty nice for this type of game, but the controlls are not very precise, it's very chunky, the menus are really ugly, the sound effects are embarassing for a modern game. I'm happy I bought the game on discount, it's definitely not worth the original price. It looks fun, but it's not.
[b]Üstten bakışlı kamera açısıyla oynayabileceğiniz bu yarış oyununda; ses konusunda bazı sıkıntılar olduğunu görebilirsiniz. Oynanışta ise pist üzerinde aracınızın hızını düşürebilecek birçok unsura dikkat etmeniz gerekebiliyor. Galibiyet için tüm hızıyla size yaklaşan rakiplerinize karşı da, zaman zaman kritik hasar oluşturabilecek ufak dokunuşların, sizin galibiyetinizde önemli bir rol oynadığını görebilirsiniz.
I bought SuperTrucks when it first came out, it was a cool game but a little rough around the edges. The Dev (a one man team I believe) has made quite a few HUGE updates over the past several months and I'm finding the game even more fun to play. I have been playing the 'Career' mode (have not tried MP yet), but you do get screen notifications when a MP game is available - just waiting to get a little better before trying MP. With Career mode you start in 1 city that has many racetracks, all tracks but 'one' are locked. You need to 'win' the race on that track before the next track unlocks and then you work your way through all the races until the final track - where you race the 'Champion' for that city. When you beat the Champion the next city is unlocked and rinse/repeat the process. Also, as you race there are 'pickups' on the track; extra Nitrous, money bags, cards and chance for SuperCrates. (the Cards have pictures of Truck parts on them, these are used in the shop to upgrade your Truck - SuperCrates contain multiple cards) The game has a Shop where you can upgrade the various sections/parts (which start at Tier 1) for your Truck, there is also a 'Customize' area where you change the Paint, Tires and Decals (I think) - these Customize options become unlocked by 'leveling' your Truck or they can be obtained (unlocked at least) by getting a random bonus with the SuperCrates (they still need to be bought, once unlocked). Duplicate parts and high-tier parts (that you cannot use) can be sold from the Shop window - just double-click the card. The in-game currency is 'money' $$ and Gold - spend the Gold wisely it does not come as easily as the money, you will get money every time you race - win or lose. You can also buy SuperCrates (from the Shop) in the hopes of getting some parts for your Truck to upgrade, there is also a chance to 'Unlock' a new 'Customize' option. There are 3 daily challenges that allow you to earn some extra money, the challenges (so far) have been the same three; Distance Jump, Obstacle Course and a Timed Race. The Dev has been actively supporting this game over the last 3-4 months making a lot of positive changes, has been responsive on the Forums and is open to ideas/suggestions to improve the game. I have been having a lot more fun with the game since all the recent updates and so I recommend the game. At only $10 I think it's worth a try and if you're not sure you can refund - I think you will know within 2 hours if you like the Arcady type of fun this game offers.
Cool Racing Game 7/10 Pros: +Cool Music. +Decent Graphics +Lots of Levels and Tracks +Nice Upgrade System +Cards, Cash and points, leveling up system is nice I like the variation to give the game some depth. +I Liked the Long Jumps +Customization Cons: - No Weapons - No Rear view Mirror - No Race Track Maps in the corner. Bugs/Suggestions/Comments/ETC: *Top Menu Buttons on start don't need to be that big. *After Race menu looks nice. *Wish there was more cars on the field at a time maybe 8? * Hitting a wall sometimes caused me to glitch back on the track wierdly. * The nitro is cool but wish it would last longer, also Don't like the Nitro sound its kinda weird, some kinda rocket sound would be better. *One bug i notice is one time on the 5th level I went over the last ramp before the finish with nitro and when I landed it was like I hit an invisible wall or vehicle and caused me to spin around losing all momentum. *I'd like to see more weapons, like mario kart. Although I was able to Nitro bump the first boss into a wall lol That was funny. *Cant seem to control menus with controller only truck racing. Do not like that pressing start, or B on the controller when Paused can send you back to the main menu. *Customization is cool wish there was a steam community where you could make and upload tracks for eachother, as well as car logos, would give lots of replayability. Or at least able to upload logos of our own in game. Style of the game upgrades reminds me of road rash kinda, I Mostly only like racing games where you can battle, I dig it tho. 7/10 overall.
