Pros: Lots of pawtential Great background mewsic Purrfect art style Cons: Not called "2 Fast 2 Furry"
This is a super cute kart racer and a real labour of love from the developer. Supersonic Tank Cats just got better and better through early access with the developer adding loads of content to the game. It's very different to how it started out - the game has come a long way. There is LOADS of content to keep you busy for a while - battle modes with local multiplayer, challenges and races.. plenty of different characters and powerups to try out. It's awesome. It's colourful and fun but challenging in all the right places. Gameplay is awesome and it's solid technically, too. It supports controller perfectly and wide screen resolutions. If you love racing games, kart racers or supersonic tank cats, get it. Just buy it now already, it's great and we should be 100% supporting developers like Molegato who are making games with real heart <3
It's like Mariokart except with cats that are tanks. What's not to love?
Awesome Game, make many profit, many nice
I really wanted to like this game as I think the concept of cute cats with tanks on their backs racing each other is super adorable and silly. However, this game is one of the worst experiences I've ever had playing a game. Very rarely did I enjoy playing it as it is riddled with design problems. But let's start with the pros: Pros: -Characters are cute and unique, and I loved to look at them. -The playground where you can hang out with your cat friends and pet them is wonderful. -I like the little facecam of the cats in the bottom corner when I'm racing! Those are about the only things I enjoyed about this game. And now for my problems with this game: Cons: -The brightness and the amount of bloom is horrible, I can't see hardly 20 feet in front of my cat and I'm always making last second guesses on some tracks of which way to turn. -Anyone with epilepsy would have a seizure when playing that Chess track. DO NOT put a pure black and white checker pattern down your whole track and have people race down it super fast!!! TONE DOWN THOSE COLORS if you want a checker pattern! I had to squint while playing that map. -Everything is just impossible to keep track of or too fast to make any valuable choices that influence what happens in the game. Once second I'm in first after getting a big boost and then literally half a second later (not even exaggerating) half of the bot players are launched in front of me for who knows what reason. -The items are not well defined at all, half of them I literally have no idea what they do. I found myself just spamming the use item button as I raced because either the item did nothing, or the other items are just something that you shoot in front of you and just hope it lands on the road. There was one item I liked on the speedy cat that put me in the air and launched me forward, problem is after I feel like I've launched myself ahead of the competition, half of the players just appear in front of me again! (I don't know if this is a rubber banding feature coded into the game, but if it is, this is not the way to do it. I just feel like any skill and effort I put in to push myself ahead has no value if the other players are just dragged up to where I am.) -Speaking of skill, I felt like I gained absolutely 0 new skills or knowledge throughout my time playing the game. It doesn't help when the only tutorial in the game is just placing a diagram of all the controls on the screen for a short time before races. I felt like learning how to drift had 0 impact on how well I did in races. I felt like I learned nothing new about tracks as I played them, and that brings me to my next point. -The tracks are so uninspired. Every track is just a wide path that just bends or twists a different direction with some ramps that go through shortcuts. I didn't feel like any track had some unique turns or obstacles that I could practice or get better at. Most of the obstacles were just an object that moved back and forth over the track and it was just luck of your timing if you dodge it or not. -Some of the UI is horrible. I went into a Grand Prix races consisting of 4 races in a row. For some reason after each race there's a button that takes you back to the menu right next to the button that continues to the next race. I would get through 3 of the races and accidentally move to the Back button and lose all my progress, because the menu controls are so slippery, and there was no confirmation panel that asked me if I really wanted to quit. Also maybe give a few seconds before those buttons pop up because my thumb is still on the stick for moving my character and those buttons immediately pop up afterwards which is what caused me to choose the Back button. -The races are either too long, or the gameplay is so bland that they just felt too long. Every race I just find myself pressing forward and steering, spamming the Use Item button. Please shorten the tracks, slow down the gameplay, and make mechanics like drifting have meaningful impact so players feel like they're actually doing something instead of mindlessly driving and hoping they get lucky enough to win the race. -My game crashed twice within the almost 3 hours I've played. -For some reason even though I've set my game to be full screen, every time I open it, it resets back to windowed. -I don't really know why ALL the achievements are hidden. My first instinct was to just look them up online to see what kind of things I would need to do to unlock them. Really no point to hiding all of them. I'm sorry to be so harsh, I really wanted to enjoy this game, I think its a really cute and fun concept, but it was just so draining to play and I really would like to see this game improved. And sorry to my roommate who got this game for me for Christmas, I still appreciate the gift!
**===================** FOLLOW MY CURATOR PAGE TO SEE ALL THE GAMES I PLAY AND REVIEW HERE: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/29637005-Pharticus-Maximus-Gaming/ ====================== This game is already very fun to play if you enjoy "mario kart" style racers. The controls feel good, just how you would want them to be for this style racing game. The graphics are spot on as well for this style game, cartoony, colorful and fun. There is a great sense of speed in this game, you feel like you are in supersonic mode when you pick up various turbo effect items on the track and drive through the speed ups. I feel they need to polish it a bit more and then get players to play online and it would be a perfect cart racer for PC players.
Welcome to the Robot Maid Review of Supersonic Tank Cats
Review of Build V0.2 (Current as of 06/03/2018) Supersonic Tank Cats is a fun and colorful little racing romp through Sugarfire City where you take control of 1 of 8 cats dressed up like various military vehicles. Much like other cart racers, this is meant to be fun and relaxing. While in Early Access, it still has multiple modes, including...

Quick Race: Pick 1 of 6 tracks and get into the race with default settings.
Grand Prix: Pick either Beginner or Intermediate and go through a series of 4 races against the AI.
Time Attack: Go through a track by yourself to get the best time possible
Battle: Drive (run?) through arena like maps to get the highest score by savagely brutalizing other cats dressed up like heavy military hardware.
Mission: Partake in challenges with set cats trying to do specific objectives during races.
Free Roam: Freely drive through maps to familiarize yourself with them with no judgement and no other racers.
Furthermore, it has a couch multiplayer and online multiplayer (which as of this review is still in testing mode). This game looks pretty good, with its vibrant colors and stylized graphics with adorable cats oddly dressed up as heavy weapons. The music is just as fun and whimsical as the game intends to be and is, in my opinion, the highlight of the game. The gameplay itself is pretty solid, allowing you to speed through Sugarfire City while drifting corners for fans of Eurobeat. While mechanically solid for the most part, drifting doesn't feel satisfying as it feels like it doesn't do much for a quick turn. Furthermore, there's very few areas where drifting to turn is more effective than just turning normally. Balancing of the game is shot as well, since each cat has a fixed pool of 3 items and some cats have better items than others. Some items also don't work properly in many cases, rendering them borderline useless. On top of that, the aforementioned items involved can turn the game into a chaotic mess. Bumping into others causes the cats to have seizures and slide around very quickly with the camera following them closely, potentially causing disorientation. While the bad points don't really hurt it all that much in the grand scheme of things, this is not a game you get to compete in because it gets too chaotic to tell who's actually better or if the better racer just got a seizure from bumping into Mittens too many times. Overall, however, this game isn't bad. It's currently missing a few Quality of Life things like minimaps. For 10 USD, the current build can potentially give you a few good hours of enjoyment. The only thing that gives me pause is the sparse update schedule, but some people may be more forgiving than I am in that regard. This has been a Robot Maid Review. Thank you for reading.
Ok, this game is good. There is a few of bugs on the titlescreen but, anyway, they are not a really big probelm. The game is better than I thought, but I see two problems: 1- The multiplayer is not avaible, but I think that's something that will change in the future. 2- The game it isn't translated to spanish, my native lenguaje, so it's a little uncomfortable have to read it in english... I could translate this if you want, but I don't know how to contact with you via mail without expousing my mail here. And belive me, is not the same translate spanish to english and translate english to spanish XD Is easiest the second thing XD PD: I didn't tested the 3 lasts circuits yet, but, for now, the one that is in a city is the best for me.
I've been following the developement of this game since the creator first started posting about it, I felt like it had great potential and I couldn't wait to see what it would become. Now after playing the game a bit for myself, it was even better then I could have hoped for, smooth animations and easy controls. The music that comes with it is fast paced, just like a race games music should be. All the race tracks and battle arenas are beautifually designed, while maintaining the cute cartoony feel that they all have. For anyone who like the Mario cart games, I suggest giving this game a try, it is honestly amazing.
